The Ernest Clarke Updated Method for Trombone is the result of James Biddlecome’s study of the original method book with his teacher, Roger Smith, as well as using it and modifying it in his own teaching studio for over thirty years. This updated version marks F-attachment and alternate positions and includes additional exercises composed by the editor with minor scales, mixed meter, slurring and long tones, most of which are left alone by Clarke. The first 20 of Clarke’s exercises are replaced by the above, making it more of an intermediate/advanced method compared to the original. Mr. Biddlecome’s edition is very well thought out and should be a staple for any serious young performer of the Trombone.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792651). Bach's Partita BWV 1013 is a wonderful unaccompanied work, and in all likelihood, was written for the Transverse Flute, though that is by no means certain. In fact, there is an earlier version of the Allemande for a keyboard or stringed instrument. The Partita, originally in the key of A minor has been transposed down into D minor, putting it into a perfect range for Solo Trombone. The work is in four movements: Allemande, Corrente, Sarabande and Bourrée Anglaise. It is appropriate for advanced performers. Cherry Classics has acquired Ralph Sauer's earlier edition of the Bach Partita, BWV 1013 for Trombone Alone from Balquhidder Music. Mr. Sauer has taken this opportunity to update the transcription.
