The trombones can walk out in front of the concert band to perform, while your other band members rest their chops...it breaks things up nicely.This can also be done as a quartet, without the solo part. I encourage you to feature soloist(s) however, when possible.You can assign more than one to a part on everything except the improvised jazz solo segments with chord changes.
