Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Instrumental Duet,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.591240 Composed by David McKeown. Blues,Easter,Jazz,R & B. Score and parts. 3 pages. David McKeown #6286635. Published by David McKeown (A0.591240). The Spring Chicken Swing is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Trumpet and one Alto Saxophone. The Spring Chicken Swing is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Swing in the narrow sense defines the rhythmic feel and articulation of jazz music, but the word has come to define the Big Band Jazz era of the ‘30s and’40s and the new-style dances that came with it.The Spring Chicken Swing is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo, some syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Spring Chicken Swing is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588806 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. Score and parts. 8 pages. David McKeown #5743971. Published by David McKeown (A0.588806). Merengue de Merlín is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Merengue that emerged in the Dominican Republic during the Nineteenth Century. Merengue Tipico bands maintain the traditional instrumentation of the double-headed tambora drum, güira, accordion and vocal, while urban bands in the North American diaspora often add saxophone, bass and other percussion. The Merengue dance became hugely popular in the 1950s and new forms continue to draw audiences around the world. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The steady quintilla tambora rhythm is present throughout, and following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the style. The main challenge is the fast tempo and melodies should be clearly articulated. Merengue de Merlín has a performance time of around two and a half minutes at full tempo. You can listen to a full performance the Alto Saxophone version of this duet by following the YouTube link above. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

B-Flat Trumpet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317913 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Christian,Historic,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #906595. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1317913). Instrumental descants are useful in hymn playing as they add variety and interest to the music, and they can be used to enhance any piece of music if done correctly. An instrumental descant is a counter melody usually pitched higher than the hymn's. It is played by an instrument, usually a trumpet or a flute, with organ accompaniment. The usual form for these instrumental postludes is to play the hymn melody once through and then to play the descant. An instrumental descant always enlivens the singing of hymns, and this volume promises practicality, variety, and well-crafted countermelodies to do just that. The term descant is used to describe a countermelody, generally at a higher pitch than the main melody, and it is typically sung in the final or penultimate verse of a hymn. Although the English Hymnal of 1906 omitted descants, this influential hymnal served as a source of tunes for which the earliest known hymn tune descants were published. Among composers of descants from 1915 to 1934 were Alan Gray, Geoffrey Shaw, and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
