The Entertainer is a ragtime classic and a must have on any pianists repertoire, but usually well beyond the reach of elementary players.  This carefully reduced arrangement of the first theme allows access for new players with only one note per hand, but still retains some of the style and musical flow of the original. Difficulty is below grade 1, but does require simple movement of hand positions.  The PDF is 3 pages, portrait A4 and includes a 2nd version with finger numbers and note names.

This solo piano piece has two movements. The first movement is somewhat slow but it prepares for the frantic second movement. Both envision a dark theme that gets amplified as the piece progresses. This was my last piece I composed before I obtained my bachelor's degree.

My father once told me about a mountain that he climbed: at the bottom a sign stated, “When you get to the top you will be big and the world will be small.� But when he made it to the peak, there was a sign: “Look around you: you are small and the world is vast. And there are bigger mountains to climb!� There is a beauty to being on top of a mountain, yet being surrounded by so many more! In this work, the left hand mimics the shape of a mountain and the right hand portrays the beauty of the landscape.
