Their part doubles the violin/viola parts in most places, but there’s a part near the middle where their part varies to add complexity to the counterpoint. 6.      The foundational violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, and trumpet parts (normal sheet music) are in unison. They are a mixture of melody/harmonic writing and the bass parts. These parts should be played alongside 2 and 3 listed above. (4 and 5 too if you can!) 7.      The Foundational Notes sheets are one note per measure. In this piece, they are the main tonic chord tones. OEVRE SEPTIÈME.’The publication consisted of a set of parts each with the title page followed by a copy of the  Privilége granted by King Louis to Boismortier to print and sell his music.The fourth sonata has been arranged for flute or oboe, clarinet & bassoon or cello. The four movements are Doucement, Courante, Allemande and a pair of minuets. Players of intermediate standard and above will enjoy the independent part writing. Obvious mistakes and omissions have been corrected without comment, trills have been added where there is for e.g. a sequence where only the first trill has been indicated or a similar passage has a trill in that part or another part. The more modern tr has been substituted for + and the mordant used on shorter notes retained. The only dynamics included in the original are Doucement (softly) at the beginning of the first movement and Doux , an indication to play softly from bar/measure 49 to the end of the first movement, and none have been added.  Players should feel free to add their own. For the arrangement some changes of register have been made to accommodate the ranges of the oboe and clarinet and additional slurs have been added (dashed lines). Players are free to retain the ‘feel’ of early eighteenth century style whilst playing modern instruments.The original publication used the, now defunct, soprano clef (with G on the bottom line of the stave) and this edition has been transcribed into the modern treble clef. In the eighteenth century it was quite usual for wind players to play several instruments. The use of the soprano clef would have made it easier to switch between flute and bassoon.

Described on the title page when first published in Paris as “Douze Petits Duos facile d’éxécution, Pour deux Flûtes DÉDIÉS à M. Auguste de la Grange COMPOSÉS Par F. DEVIENNE�. Neither the date of composition nor that of the first publication are known but the latter would have been during Devienne’s lifetime. Each Duet has two movements and the set of twelve is gently progressive for both parts making part swapping between pupils or pupil and teacher an enjoyable option. The only dynamics indicated are in Duo 9 and I have refrained from adding more as the possibilities are numerous and players will enjoy experimenting for themselves. In editing these duets I have corrected obvious copying mistakes without comment. All editings are indicated either in parentheses ( ) or dashed lines. In the first bar/measure of the Grazioso movement of Duo 4 I have shown the way the turns (grupettos) should be played and continued using the grupetto sign. The layout of the duets avoids page turns during movements except for the last movement of no. 12 which is too long. A nifty page turn from flute 2 should solve this small dilemma.

Published by Reimund Merkens (A0.1081753). This is a true secret masterpiece for piano written by Guiseppe Martucci. The melodies based on the opera La forza del destino (The force of destiny) from Guiseppe Verdi. The original score edition of that masterpiece had a lot of mistakes and the score wasn't very well to read. So I decided to do a complete new score. It took me one month to do a corrected and well readable score.
