Take Five Maurice, is a tongue and cheek arrangement that combines the orchestral forces and the gradual increasing instrument forces of Ravel’s Bolero, with the melodies and chordal pattern of Take Five by Paul Desmond. Following the instrumental structure of Bolero, the piece begins with softer timbres of the woodwinds in the same manner Ravel uses the orchestra, gradually becoming much more raucous.
