String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1489823 By Keith Terrett. By Basil Simonenko. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,World. 12 pages. Keith Terrett #1066696. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1489823). In 1942, during World War II, the British government set up a small base in the North Sea just outside British territorial waters (at the time). After the war, the fort was abandoned, but, in 1967, Roy Bates, a pirate radio broadcaster, claimed it as the Principality of Sealand. The British government’s stated view is that Sealand is within British jurisdiction. Sealand generally is classified as a micronation (a nation project set up by an individual or group, and has no international recognition.)As pertaining to the anthem, it was composed by London composer Basil Simonenko in conjunction with the governing Bates family, and has no words. The title of the anthem is also the motto of Sealand.Principality of Sealand: The Principality of Sealand (/?si??lćnd/) is a micronation that claims HM Fort Roughs (also known as Roughs Tower), an offshore platform in the North Sea approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) off the coast of Suffolk, as its territory. Roughs Tower is a Maunsell Sea Fort that was built by the British during World War II. Since 1967, the decommissioned Roughs Tower has been occupied and claimed as a sovereign state by the family and associates of Paddy Roy Bates. Bates seized Roughs Tower from a group of pirate radio broadcasters in 1967 with the intention of setting up his own station there. Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837485 Composed by Brett L. Wery. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Jazz. Score and part. 53 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #4346989. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.837485). Samuel Detweiler is a superb musician and accomplished saxophonist, equally at home in both jazz and classical idioms. Naturally, I was thrilled when Sam told me of his plans to commission a work that incorporated improvisation in what would otherwise be a neo-classical sonata form. The result is a piece that is technically demanding for most classical saxophonists but also requires a reasonable amount of proficiency in improvisation. Much of classical music is driven by development (the restatement, fragmentation, exploitation, evolution, and eventual transformation of musical ideas). In this sonata much of the development is left to the performer. The first movement is in sonata allegro form with the development being largely improvised. The second movement leaves one entire statement of the form open for improvisation much like any jazz standard. The third movement is a sonata rondo, again, leaving the development section open for improvisation. This 17 minute piece is ideal for college and professional players. Where Northern Indiana and Lake Michigan come together, the Indiana Dunes is a place where wildlife, geography, and human history amplify each other. While there is an order to the work, the performer is free to rearrange the number and order of movements in performance a given performance, to meet time limitations if necessary. The title of each movement is like a few works written rapidly on the back of a picture postcard and sent to a friend. The score of this edition is formatted to be printed double-sided, with correct page turns.Jeffrey Hoover's compositions- music ranging from soloist to symphony orchestra -have received recognition through the Universal Edition/SMP Press Contemporary Composition Award, the prestigious Trieste prize, the international Luigi Russolo competition, awards from Mu Phi Epsilon, the Lancaster Fine Arts Festival, grants, publications fellowships, and more than 25 commissions. Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.954892 Composed by Irving Tallis. Arranged by Rick Rangno. 20th Century,Concert,Traditional. Score and parts. 20 pages. Rick Rangno #4580235. Published by Rick Rangno (A0.954892). The SS Canadiana was a passenger ferry that primarily operated between Buffalo, New York and the Crystal Beach Amusement Park at Crystal Beach, Ontario, Canada from 1910 to 1956.The Canadiana featured stately, Victorian architecture, salons done in rich mahogany, beveled mirrors, brass railings and lighting fixtures, grand stairways with sweeping banisters and stately newels, stained and leaded glass windows and gilded plaster Neptune's heads between each, accenting the walls. Ceilings were done with three-dimensional plaster formations of grape vines and rose clusters enhancing ovals of mahogany molding that, in turn, framed hand painted scenes and still-life's. To say she was elegant is an understatement. Composer Irving Tallis (dates unknown) was commissioned to compose a march to commemorate the launching of this Grande Dame of the Great Lakes. This rousing march incorporates two distinctly nationalistic tunes into its fabric - Yankee Doodle for the USA and Maple Leaf Forever for Canada. It should be played jauntily but not too fast. Range in the 1st trumpet to high D.

Choral Choir,Choral,SSAA Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1475304 Composed by Jocelyn Scofield. 21st Century,A Cappella,Singer/Songwriter. 33 pages. Bilsco Music #1052847. Published by Bilsco Music (A0.1475304). SCORES INCLUDED:Full Score & Parts Scores: Solo+Sopranos, Mezzos+Altos, CajonPERFORMANCE NOTES FROM THE COMPOSER:I AM is a singing meditation. It is both a piece that honors the individual and the whole. It is meant to affirm an individual's worth, as well as the whole collective. When a choir prepares for a performance, they rehearse a piece dozens if not hundreds of times. I wanted the experience of rehearsing I AM to be an ongoing declaration of the singer’s value. Therefore, every phrase in this piece is an affirmation. When a singer finds themselves singing the piece outside of rehearsal, they will be singing words that are positive and affirming. I cannot express how much joy that brings me as a composer.Musically, I AM is both complex, with its 7-part vocal split, contrasting rhythms, and varying accents, yet simple in its repetition, lyrics, and tonality. Each of the 7 parts sings a unique affirmation throughout the piece. They are simple statements like, I am enough and I am love, but can hold so much complexity depending on an individual's relationship with the statement. In the middle of the piece, there is an aleatoric section where each singer contributes their unique affirming statement. It creates a chaotic building of sound before coming together for the first and only time in the piece to sing I AM as a whole choir in block chords.  It is one of my favorite moments in the piece because simple and complex are just a beat apart.I AM was commissioned by the Grand Rapids Women's Chorus and premiered on May 10, 2024.  If you would like to hear more about the creation of the piece, you can hear the composer's original explantions on Youtube.

Instrumental Duet,Percussion,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1248663 By Evelyn Glennie. By Eugene Astapov. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. 26 pages. EAMUSIC #843160. Published by EAMUSIC (A0.1248663). Composing Tiny Shattered Pieces was a truly immersive musical journey due to the sheer amount of time it took to write it and how much time I spent thinking about this piece. Since the work was commissioned before the start of the 2020 pandemic, but rescheduled for a premiere 2 years later – I could write, re-write and re-think this piece from start to finish multiple times. In the end there was enough material for a 30-minute composition, but so much of it was so different due to the different moods one would go through during a pandemic, that compiling it into 5 separate short musical statements was the most natural conclusion.     The music embarks on a journey of discovery, love, destruction, reconciliation, suffering, and by the end of it – war. Naturally at the end of a 2-year period a person evolves and goes through a myriad of different experiences, but few artists or composers experienced the world going through a tectonic shift from the early 2000s until now, therefore I felt it necessary to touch upon many different topics through the language of this work, including the personal and the universal. Each of the movements is a complete statement but together the movements form a larger pyramid-like structure, completing each other’s thoughts, propelling them and eventually bringing them to conclusion.      It should be noted that by the time I was reaching the end of the compositional process – a major war started with Russia invading Ukraine. Being a Ukrainian-born composer, the issue affected me deeply and sipped into the music by the end of the 4th movement. This is where the pyramid reaches its peak and should be appropriately shaped by the musicians.     The piece is approximately 10 minutes in duration and is to be performed with utmost freedom, gusto and conviction. The performers must not shy away from making the sounds crunch together, piercing through the hall, but at the same time the more quiet, gentle parts should be appropriately shaped and bring much needed comfort. The work is about contrasts, outbursts of emotions, quiet sobbing, rage and solitude.  The piece is approximately 12 minutes long. It was commissioned by Dame Evelyn Glennie in cooperation with Calgary's Land's End Ensemble.

4 male voices (CtenTTBar) - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19219 For four male voices. Composed by Gavin Bryars. This edition: score. Downloadable, Score. Duration 15 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19219. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19219). Latin.Glorious Hill may be performed by a male choir. Text by Pico della Mirandola (1463-1497) from De Hominis Dignitate. Glorious Hill was commissioned by the Hilliard Ensemble and first performed by them at its summer Festival of Voices in Lewes, Sussex, in August 1988. It was the first piece I wrote for the ensemble and I focused on the singers' unique ability to move with ease from early music to tonal music of the present day. There were techniques which I asked for which I hardly needed to notate - the staggered breathing of the two tenors to supply a continuous unbroken held note for example - and the piece moves between passages for solo voices and sections of highly chromatic homophony, almost as if the music were switching between the 12th century of Perotin and the 16th century of Gesualdo. Each of the four voices is given its own solo passage, sometimes accompanied, sometimes quietly supported by the other voices. The title, Glorious Hill comes from the name of the small-town Mississippi setting of Tennessee Williams' Summer and Smoke. I wrote the music for the 1987 production of this play at the Leicester Haymarket Theatre, the first time I had written any incidental music for the stage. Williams makes very specific demands in terms of music and there is one particularly powerful scene, the penultimate one, throughout which music and atmospheric sound effects are continuous. The principle character Alma argues passionately about the vital importance of human choice with the man to whom she has, too late, admitted her love. I watched this section every night throughout the 4 week run of the play watching the different ways in which the actress, Frances Barber, played the scene. There is a powerful emotional and philosophical connection between the imagery of this scene and a passage from the Renaissance philosopher Pico della Mirandola's Oration on the Dignity of Man which forms the text of Glorious Hill. This passage has been described as one of the few passages in Renaissance philosophy to treat human freedom in a modern way. The text, which is sung in Latin, is addressed by God to Adam before the fall from grace. Gavin Bryars.

Small Ensemble Harp,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799604 Composed by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #3417119. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799604). This short song was composed in 2012 during my doctoral coursework at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. It was written for tenor, but given its accessible range (Db4 to G5 in the original key), it would work well for lighter voices in many fachs, including light lyric sopranos, baritones, and mezzos. The text, translated from a poem by Takuboku Ishikawa (1886-1912), is gender-neutral. This would be a great introduction to new music for an undergraduate singer with strong aural skills and a still-light voice (since young dramatics might overpower the harp). If you'd like to talk about commissioning a transposed score, please get in touch! Transposition options will be a bit more limited with the harp than with the piano, but I'm sure we could make something work.Poem text (in English translation, as it appears in the score)Setting sun, Drifting clouds, New moon, Evening twilight, What do they matter to me?Composer biography:Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile composer, teacher, collaborative pianist, and music theorist currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. Currently a PhD candidate in music theory at Indiana University, she recently completed a doctoral minor in composition, having studied with Claude Baker, Don Freund, P. Q. Phan, and David Schneider. She also holds a B.Mus. from the University of Michigan, where she studied composition with Bright Sheng and piano with Louis Nagel. Nicole's music has been heard across the world: along with numerous performances in the Midwest, her commissioned song settings of Muscogee poet laureate Alexander Posey's texts have been performed at Shorter College (GA) and Lincoln University (PA), and the Smithsonian Institution procured copies of two of these (Nature's Blessings and A Vision) to archive at the National Museum of the American Indian. Additionally, Nicole's viola duo Three Episodes was featured at Ball State University's 40th Annual New Music Festival in February 2010. Her early compositions have been garnering interest as well: music students in Kenya performed several of Nicole's such pieces in May 2013 through a pedagogical project spearheaded by IU faculty member Kimberly Carballo. Nicole's music also received its Mexican premiere in October 2013 with a performance of her Divertimento, written for the International String Quartet of Yucatán. In 2014, Nicole published a set of twenty short pedagogical pieces in uncommon keys, entitled Venturing Beyond, available on SheetMusicPlus. Also a sought-after teacher and adjudicator, Nicole frequently judges regional and divisional MTNA composition competitions at all levels, ranging from elementary to college-level Young Artists, and she also served as the composition department chair at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in 2014. Instrumental Duet Cello,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.723176 Composed by Shmuel Cohen. Arranged by Joel Jacklich (ASCAP). Jewish,Patriotic,World. Score and parts. 4 pages. Joel Jacklich #6626055. Published by Joel Jacklich (A0.723176). I was asked by two musicians friends, who had previously commissioned several Klezmer pieces from me, to write an arrangement of Hatikva (The Hope), the Israeli National Anthem for a visual visit to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem to take place later this year.  Naphtali Herz Imber (1856-1909) wrote the poem in 1878.   Shmuel (Samuel) Cohen (1870-1940) first set Imber's poem to music in 1887, basing the melody for Hatikvah on La Mantovana, a 16th-century Italian song, composed by Giuseppe Cenci (Giuseppino del Biado) ca. 1600. In 1933, the 18th International Zionist Congress in Prague adopted Hatikva as the anthem of the Zionist movement.  With there establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, it was adopted unofficially as then national anthem of Israel, becoming finalized officially by the Knesset in 2004.  This arrangement for clarinet and cello shares the melody diplomatically between the two instruments.  The clarinet occasionally switches octaves for a slight Klezmer feeling (as was requested by the commissioner) while still maintaining the piece in a serious mode.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887978 Composed by Graham Yates. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Graham Yates #6027709. Published by Graham Yates (A0.887978). These short piano solos were commissioned as part of the second annual Christmas in July showcase in 2020. Each composition encodes the donor’s first name (praenomen) as a musical motif, which is stated before the start of each piece. It also serves as a sketch that is loosely based on some aspect about the subject: 1. The classical-style Katies kleine Sonatine is a pun on Katie Cline and Eine kleine Nachtmusik; 2. Garrett is a proudly unusual character and his piece is vaguely atonal at times; 3. Jennie is a generous and deep soul, in a way that reminded me of Beethoven’s Andante cantabile from the Pathétique sonata; 4. Barbara’s second commission was an occasion for me to explore a Chopinesque etude style and unlikely harmonies; 5. Jamie is boisterous, fiercely devoted, strong-minded, and plays ukulele. The pieces can, of course, be enjoyed on their own merit.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534555). In 2004, the Orchestre Philharmonique de l’Oise commissioned its musical director, t Thierry PĂ©licant, this concerto for the late Claude Caens, the principal contrabass of this orchestra. This great artist, who was friends with everyone in this ensemble, wanted everyone to have a part in the festivities, not only the strings, but also the winds, the horns, the trumpets and the percussion, and also that they all should be heard ! Thierry PĂ©licant wrote therefore a concerto which is at once very symphonic – and for this reason, it is strongly advised that the contrabass be amplified – but also a piece which would express the friendship between the orchestra and the soloist. This concerto strives to be both warm and lyrical : it is not a virtuoso showpiece, inspite of the real technical that it offers to the soloist and which he would do well to try to hid them from the audience. It is also not a battle between the orchestra and this gentle giant : they stroll together, sometimes joyously, sometimes with nostalgia and go through the strong storms which do not fail to present themselves, smiling together and finding them to be envigorating. The work is scored for (2(Pic)2(EH)22/2200/Timp/2perc/strings) and lasts aproximately 23 minutes. The orchestral parts are on rental from the pubilsher.  The full score is available for sale on this site.Thierry PĂ©licant was born in 1957 at Sainte-Adresse, France. After studying the organ and the horn, his meeting with Jean-Claude Hartemann, the Musical Director of the OpĂ©ra Comique in Paris lead him to decide to explore conducting. He was the student of Haremann for fifteen years. He is the Musical Director of the AndrĂ© Messager Orchestre and has also directed the Orchestre Philharmonique de l’Oise since 1980, one of the oldest French orchestras, since it was founded in 1750. A passionate ssupporter of French music, PĂ©licant reconstructed the Messe solennelle of L.V.A BoĂŻeldieu and Te Deum of 1792 by Philidor and premièred and recorded the Suite Parnassienne, Massenet’s last work. At the same time, he has also served the music of our time in premièring or recording the works of Dazzi, Marchand, Braconnier, BĂ©nard, Drouin, Preschez, etc. As a composer, musical grammar and stylistic debates only interest him from afar. As a true gourmet (since cooking is another of his passions), he strives to write the music that pleases him, that would be enjoyable to play and which would be enjoyable to hear, hopefully with real pleasure and in which he tries to express the emotions and the pleasant or surprising states of being which, to hime, these works are tied. Through this process, he has created concertos (for oboe, for bassoon, for organ, for contrabass), Escales & paysages, ma monumental literary concerto for narrator, piano and orchestra, written for his friend Dominique Preschez, Operas (Histoires comme ça, Ribouldingue, Élise et le fantĂ´me) ; With the poet Luis Porquet, he wrote the song cycle Ombre lĂ©gère (for soprano, harp and orchestre), Rhapsodie du Havre (for tenor and chamber orchestra, a commission from the Forum de Normandie to commemorate the 500 years of the founding of the city Le Havre), Et de toi, Bethleem, Christmas oratorio for baritone, chorus and orchestra and, finally, commissioned by the Orchestre de l’Oise in honor of the centennial of the First World War 14, fresque de la Grande Guerre, for the tenor Daniel GĂ lvez-Vallejo, children’s chorus and orchestra. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917402). Petite Suite for Brass Quintet is a light-hearted piece for brass quintet in four movements with a duration of fourteen minutes. The four movements follow the basic Classical symphonic form - Allegro, Adagio, Scherzo (Presto) and Finale (Presto). The first movement Strombor has a fanfare at the beginning with a melodic 2nd theme in the French Horn. The second movement is based on a slow cantabile theme. The 3rd movement Attack of the Killer Bees includes a bit of theatre. Throughout the movement there is a buzzing of bees, which are killed at the end when all the players stomp on them. The 4th movement Finale has a feeling of cartoon music, ending with a big finish. Throughout the Suite each of the five instrumentalists is featured. Blore Heath 1459 was commissioned by the Audley Brass Band (Staffordshire, UK) in 1998. The Battle of Blore Heath was the first major battle in the War of the Roses. The music sets out to portray the events that took place there in 1459 in which the then Lord Audley, James Tuchet met his demise. The composition is based on material derived from the opening maestoso statement. Fanfare ideas lead on to a march theme that descibes the assembling of both sides at the battlefield. Quicker and more agitated passages ensue portraying two unsucessful assualts by Audley's men. The main battle scene then unfolds during which he, Lord Audley is killed. A touching lament follows his death with solos for Euphonium and Cornet in the works most sensitive section. The original march theme returns in the form of a funeral march and the tempo gradually returns  to its original form in an extended coda section before the initial opening statement brings the piece to its conclusion.
