SKU: A0.1249010

Composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Arranged by edited by Dr. LeRoy Henry. Jazz,Latin. Guitar Tab. 2 pages. Dr. LeRoy Henry #843483. Published by Dr. LeRoy Henry (A0.1249010).

Triste is a song written by Jobim in late 1966 while staying at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles, as he waited for Frank Sinatra to return from a holiday in Barbados so they could begin recording their album Francis Albert Sinatra & Antônio Carlos Jobim (1967).[1]

The first recording of the song was an instrumental version by Jobim for his 1967 album Wave. Sinatra recorded it with Jobim two years later on the sessions for their planned second album, SinatraJobim, which was ultimately released as Side A of Sinatra & Company (1971).

Jobim recorded an English-language vocal version in 1980 on the album Terra Brasilis.

This arrangement is a head chart for guitar with tablature.

Composed by Anthony Whittaker. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score and individual part. 8 pages. Anthony Whittaker #36019. Published by Anthony Whittaker (A0.912276).

A characterful, descriptive piece for flute and piano of intermediate difficulty, ideal for recitals or festivals at c. 1' 47 The download contains the score and flute part. This piece draws its inspiration from a trip to Rome in 2014 where the composer was invited to enjoy, but did not always accept, large plates of pasta and regional wines every evening by a persuasive hotel waiter. The fictional character 'Florian' in this piece is the composer's idea of the waiter himself going out to dine full of ebullience and eagerness. Choosing his items whimsically from the menu, he decides, eats with gusto, then after paying a large bill, he disappears into the night with a carefree nod and farewell. www.anthonywhittaker.co.uk Twitter: @tonywhittaker.

Bint Al Shalabiya (Beautiful Girl) is an ancient tune made famous in Egypt by the great singer Daoud Hosni. It was later adapted by the Rahbani Brothers and performed by Feyrouz in Lebanon. It’s a very joyful song, with a dancing mood, describing how much a lover adores his beautiful sweetheart with almond green eyes, how he waited for her under the arches (a feature of old Lebanese houses), and how difficult it was for her to resist coming to meet him.

By Michael Swedberg. By Traditional French Carol. Arranged by Terrence Niska. Christmas,Contemporary,Holiday. Score. 8 pages. Niska Music Publishing #726510. Published by Niska Music Publishing (A0.1125770).

This song has a long history with me. I first wrote a five-part vocal to be sung by the group Five By Design (of which I was a member) back in the late 1990s or early 2000s. Unfortunately, it never found its way in to our repertoire. It sat on my computer for quite a few years before I revised it to be sung as a trio with my brother, Kurt, and his wife, Lorie. I had written a vocal arrangement of the carol for us to sing at some Christmas concerts and a few years later, when putting this album together, I returned to the first chart and adapted it for piano solo. The meter of the song moves back and forth between 3/4 and 2/4 and conveys the joy and hopefulness of the opening lyrics: “He is born, the Divine Child, Play the oboe, resound the bagpipes. He is born, the Divine Child, Let us all sing of his arrival.†It is this combination of instruments that I tried to emulate in the introduction, with the bagpipes in the left hand and the oboes in the right. When the tune proper begins, there is a definite rhythmic vitality that is maintained throughout the prelude as it celebrates the long-awaited birth of Jesus as foretold by the prophets over 4,000 years ago. From start to finish, the influence of both George Winston and Mannheim Steamroller can be heard in the music.

By David Warin Solomons. By David Warin Solomons. 21st Century,Christmas. Full Performance. Duration 218. David Warin Solomons #926515. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1340942).

Multitrack performance of my Chocolate angel song using both verses and with an instrumental improvisation (with hohoho from Santa) between them.

Well there's mince pies and sherry
and pudding and whisky
and there's candies and chocolates
to make us all frisky
but do you know the most famous
sweet of all?

Rupert the chocolate angel
Waited by the fire one day
'cos he was told that Santa
would be coming on his sleigh

all of the other chocolates
told him that he was a fool
they were afraid of melting
so they kept in shade and cool

but that night old Santa came along
at we all request
and he gulped the sherry down
doffed his boots and had a rest

then he looked round at Rupert
melted now and quite deceased
gave out a little giggle
and had a little chocolate feast.

[impro with hohoho from Santa]

Well there's presents and crackers
and turkey and telly
and there's thousands of kids
eating ice cream and jelly
but do you know the most sickly
sweet of all?

Rupert the chocolate angel
waited by the fire one day
'Cos he was told that Santa
would be coming on his sleigh

All of the children loved him
told him that he was so great
as they sat by the fire
they could never know his fate

So that night old Santa came along
As we all request
and he got the sherry down
doffed his boots and had a rest

then he looked round at Rupert
melted now and quite deceased
gave out a little giggle
and had a little chocolate feast.

SKU: A0.869256

Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. With Arioso … Allegro con moto 3. 36 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #32565. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869256).

Program note:
In 1997, I wrote Yo Picasso for clarinetist Nancy Braithwaite and the Arto Ensemble; scored for clarinet, viola, cello and piano. The work is in five movements, each a musical interpretation of a painting by Pablo Picasso.

Fifteen years later Nancy told me she has a new group called the Emmelos Ensemble and they are planning to perform the Schubert Octet in F major, D. 803, in the spring of 2012. She asked me if I would be interested in writing a companion work with the same instrumentation as the Schubert. She also mentioned that Schubert’s inspiration was based on Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat major, opus 20. I said, Sure. It sounds like a great idea.

My Octet in D, opus 144 (2012) is, like the Beethoven and the Schubert, in six movements. The instrumentation is, like the Schubert, scored for Bb clarinet, bassoon, horn in F, string quartet and contrabass.

1. Prelude … Moderato; Scherzo … Prestissimo!
2. Arioso … Allegro con moto
3. Numinoso … Largo
4. Alla Marcia … Allegretto
5. Recitativo … Adagio; Canzone … Adagio
6. Bacchanale … Prestissimo!

Unlike the Schubert, which is an hour long in duration, mine is just a little over 20 minutes.

Enjoy!!!
