SKU: A0.764695

Composed by J.S. Bach (1685-1750). Arranged by James Pybus. Baroque,Contest,Festival. 65 pages. James Pybus #4363538. Published by James Pybus (A0.764695).

The Brandenburg concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1046–1051) are a collection of six instrumental works presented by Bach to Christian Ludwig, Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt, in 1721. They are widely regarded as among the finest musical compositions of the Baroque era. Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F major, BWV 1047 was originally scored for a Concertino of natural trumpet in F, recorder, oboe, violin, with a Ripieno of two violins, viola, violone, and basso continuo (including harpsichord). This challenging arrangement has been adapted for a Saxophone Quintet: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and Bass. An alternate Baritone part is included that is more saxophone friendly, and a 2nd Baritone part is included as a substitute for the Bass. A version for solo SATB Saxophone Quartet with Wind Ensemble is also available upon request. The three movements total 11:30. Please contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com

Composed by Luigi Boccherini. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Traditional,Wedding. Score. 4 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #753664. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1153404).

This simple arrangement adapted for tenor saxophone duo was imagined for a group of beginner students who want to start their immersion in classical music, of course with the help of a teacher. Even though the original work is for strings, this did not prevent this beautiful adaptation, where the original essence of the work was maintained, being made only an adaptation of the tonality and some adaptations in the tessitura of the instruments. This piece can be used for professional and academic recitals, didactic material and repertoire for ensemble practice as well, which does not prevent professional musicians and instructors from using it for performances of their preference. Luigi Boccherini was born in the city of Lucca, in northern Italy. He studied cello and became a virtuoso who eventually moved to Spain, where he worked with the Spanish royal family for the rest of his life. His String Quintet in E major, Op. 11, No. 5, G 275, was written in 1771 and published in 1775, and is one of his most famous works. The quintet is famous for its minuet and trio, third movement which is often played as an independent piece outside the context of the full quintet. This is notably the most famous, it is in 3/4 time, in the key of E Major modulating to A Major. This is a beautiful work, and not just the third movement, with good partial writing for all. The lovely, flowing melodies and rhythms are typical of Boccherini. The quintet is suitable for both concerts and home performances.

Peer Gynt, Op. 23 is the incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's 1867 play of the same name, written by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg in 1875. It premiered along with the play on 24 February 1876 in Christiania (now Oslo).

Later, in 1888 and 1891, Grieg extracted eight movements to make two four-movement suites: Suite No. 1, Op. 46, and Suite No. 2, Op. 55. Some of these movements have received coverage in popular culture; see Grieg's music in popular culture.

Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Christmas,Classical,Instructional,March,Romantic Period. Score. 8 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #752153. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1151946).

This arrangement adapted for tenor saxophone duo was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice. Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).

Composed by John Francis Wade and John Reading. Arranged by Vitor Melo. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Religious. 3 pages. Melo Music #704266. Published by Melo Music (A0.1100489).

O Come, All Ye Faithful (originally spelled in Latin as Adeste Fideles) is a famous Christmas song that has been attributed to various authors. This beautiful hymn was first published by John Francis Wade in his collection Cantus Diversi (1751), with four Latin verses, and music set in the traditional square notation used for medieval liturgical music. Besides John Francis Wade, the tune has been attributed to several musicians, from John Reading and his son, to Handel, and even the German composer Gluck. The Portuguese composer Marcos Portugal or King John IV of Portugal have also been credited. Thomas Arne, whom Wade knew, is another possible composer. This arrangement is a beautiful duet for alto and tenor saxophones, with piano accompaniment and chords, for optional guitar accompaniment. Key: G Major.

Composed by Leon Jessel. Arranged by P. R. Frederick. Christmas,Holiday,March. Saxophone Duet. 6 pages. P. R. Frederick #891867. Published by P. R. Frederick (A0.1302260).

The Parade of the Tin Soldiers (Die Parade der Zinnsoldaten), also known as The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, is an instrumental musical character piece, in the form of a popular jaunty march, written by German composer Leon Jessel, in 1897.

The Parade of the Tin Soldiers was originally composed for solo piano. Jessel later published it for orchestra in 1905, as Opus 123. Today, it is also a popular tune for marching bands, concert bands, and small orchestras, and for extremely diverse alternate instrumentations as well.

Since the early 1920s, the piece has been very popular in the U.S., and has also been frequently performed and recorded worldwide. A song, The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, was also created from the piece in 1922, with English lyrics by Ballard MacDonald.

The song is often performed around the Christmas holiday season.  Here it is arranged as a duet for two like saxophones.  A full score and separate parts are provided
