Hint: another dance style VII. This chord sounds in a place where it is not real VIII. Minor form of I-IV, but what does it mean? IX. (In the piano part) Again, chords are not accompanying the melody, there is a code behind it (you may try the chord progression) X. Basically same with IX, but more agitated XI. Please do not associate these riddles to my other compositions XII. The riddle (bracketed in red) is only useful in the 1st movement. These twenty short pieces were composed between March 15 – 25, 2020, during the first days of self-isolation and social distancing brought about by the COVID 19 global pandemic. They were conceived as a set of dances and meditations, with the intention of providing music for a dance performance. The individual movements themselves are free form in construction. The countertenor (or mezzo-soprano) part is wordless, with the exception of the penultimate song “The Color Fades to Grey�, which serves as a poignant moment of heart-on-sleeve passion before the recapitulation of the first movement. The title of the piece, a play on the concept of 20/20 vision, written in the year 20/20, containing 20 movements, and 20 measures in each, was a gift to the tranquility of order. Having 20/20 vision does not necessarily mean you have perfect vision. 20/20 vision only indicates the sharpness or clarity of vision at a distance. Other important vision skills, including peripheral awareness or side vision, eye coordination, depth perception, focusing ability, and color vision, contribute to your overall visual ability. There is always more than one way to look at things!

It's around the turn of the 20th century and the young lassies from the many farms and villages from the glens surrounding Peebles, leave their homes to come and enjoy the festival - 'To gather on the village green and hail the festal day' 'Lassies blooming fresh and fair cam liltin’ doon the glen' - they pause for breath now and again and as they join their friends along the way, the dance intensifies into a mazurka style. At the fanfares herald the many compliments they get from 'Huntsman gallant and sheperds grey, doughtyand blythsome men' they encounter along the way. It culminates with all the lassies getherin' at the Mercat Cross.

Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer first hit number one in the US charts sung by Gene Autry over Christmas in 1949, becoming the first No. 1 of the 1950s. Songwriter, Johnny Marks, based this song on the eponymous book first published in 1939. Before its chart-topping success, Rudolph was first heard in November 1949 on New York Radio (WOR) by crooner Harry Brannon. Since then it has remained an extremely popular seasonal song and has been covered many times by such diverse artists as Bing Crosby, Spike Jones, Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Temptations. This is a new arrangement, rather than a transcription of a known reccording. It is jazzy in style and rhythmically playful. Watch out for the little tags, such as the intro, coda and between refrains! They symbolise how lost the other reindeer would have been on that foggy night without their red-nosed hero, Rudolph! The level is on the easier side of advanced; quickly rehearsed by professional quartets and an accessible challenge for experienced students. Enjoy!
