A march dedicated to the Heroes of Telemark entitled ''Heltane frå Telemark (Sabateurs March). The melodies come from vest telemark where I worked from 2001-2006 as Band Director to Kviteseid Hornmusik. The melodies used in this new march entitled 'The Heroes of Telemark' are songs from Norway, Kviteseidsangen and Fjaasesundsangen are from Vest Telemark in Southern Norway, while Mellom bakker og berg is an old melody by Ludvig Mathias Lindeman (1812-1887). Keith Terrett has re-harmonised and orchestrated these fine melodies into an exciting march, in honour of the gallant 'Heroes of Telemark'. Until the 1970s the Minuet in G Major was attributed to the great Johann Sebastian Bach. For centuries musicologists believed it was an original composition as it was a part of the manuscript notebook compiled by Bach and his wife Anna Magdalena Bach, in 1725.

Petzold was born in Konigstein, Germany, in 1677 and little is known about his exact birth date. Relatively few pieces ofhis have survived the centuries, but the inclusion of his two minuets in the Anna Magdalena Notebook, remain the most famous of these.

The theme to the Minuet in G was used in 1966 by the American pop group The Toys, in their song 'A Lover's Concerto'.

In this arrangement I have syncopated the theme and accompanying parts to create a jazz feel. From letter A the theme appears in the cornet and euphonium lines and then at letter B the theme is transferred to the horn section. Whilst the theme is in the horn section there is a counter riff in the baritones and trombones, and a simple jazz syncopation in the cornets. At C the key changes to the sub-dominant key of C and the back row cornets get the tune in a simple but syncopated form whilst a flowing counter melody continues in the lower instruments. Then at D the euphoniums, baritones and basses have their chance and the syncopation appears in the horns and interjections in the cornets. After the D.S the the piece goes to the Coda, which hasthe tune split between each of the sections of the band with a fortissimo climax.

The Three Ring March is a tribute to the marches written for the great circuses in America by Karl King and Henry Fillmore, and even Sousa himself.  These were typically exciting marches which were played faster than military march music. In this composition, the rhythms are syncopated and accented.  The use of accidentals will help students practice combinations of fingerings not always used.  Three clarinet and three trumpet parts are included. The melody is passed to the lower voices at one point to give the march contrast and added interest.

This is a basic straight-ahead arrangement of the Graduation Song from Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance. It is a quick learn, and although it looks easy at first glance, it should sound great with any size band or string group, second year through professional. I have added a string score and parts in the PDF bundle. These parts may be performed as a string ensemble or with the band resulting in an orchestra format. The beauty of this arrangement is that it can be performed with just the strings, woodwinds or the brass section or any combination. Just percussion might sound a little thin. If there is a large group graduating, everyone does not have to play the whole time. Enjoy.

One of Hans Zimmer's most powerful pieces, this marching band arrangement of The Kraken from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest features three distinct, memorable sections of the piece seamlessly woven together into a 70 second short that is perfect for a pinch in a game-day or pep setting. Included with the arrangement are original countermelodies and additions in the alto and tenor voices, as well as an original full drumline inspired by Davy Jones' Theme that foreshadows rhythms played by the winds later in the piece. As the arrangement progresses, later complicated rhythms are broken up into earlier digestable pieces to teach the band as they play it, which makes this arrangement easier to learn fast. The second of my 'Peebles Beltane Festival Suite' is 'Liltin doon the glen' inspired from the line in the Festival Song. It's around the turn of the 20th century and the young lassies from the many farms and villages from the glens surrounding Peebles, leave their homes to come and enjoy the festival - 'To gather on the village green and hail the festal day' 'Lassies blooming fresh and fair cam liltin’ doon the glen' - they pause for breath now and again and as they join their friends along the way, the dance intensifies into a mazurka style.

At the fanfares herald the many compliments they get from 'Huntsman gallant and sheperds grey, doughtyand blythsome men' they encounter along the way. It culminates with all the lassies getherin' at the Mercat Cross.
