Thumbelina is the best known name today. Also it's the original tale of Hans Christian Andersen. In 2004 Russian composer Lena Orsa has composed the opera based on this tale. March of the Beetles is the most famous music from this opera.

This is a folk tune from the 1800's referred to as a play-party-song. It was sung at social gatherings where improvisation and group participation was encouraged and expected. My great Aunt taught me this the way that you find it here--she had no idea that it was actually composed by anybody since she'd learned it from her mother and assumed her mother made it up. While teaching an American Folk Music Class I came across a tune called The Three Chafers whose text and music was similar, but hardly recognizable. Written in the baritone range for the most part (E3-E4).
