This solo feature for a quintet's trumpeter or cornetist is from the Golden Age of concert bands at the turn of the 20th century composed by legendary Sousa Band soloist Hebert L. Clarke. Clarke's impressive setting of Carnival of Venice remains the most frequently performed version of the theme and variations cornet solo first made famous by Arban. To contrast the cornet soloist's pyrotechnics is a humorous trombone and tuba accompaniment that enlivens the listening experience. A flugelhorn/trumpet alternate part is provided for the horn part. For ambitious trumpeters who want to expand their solo repertoire and technique, this 60-page collection (solo parts only, no keyboard accompaniment), of Three Famous Baroque Works for Two Trumpets by Italian composers Vivaldi, Manfredini and Franceschini who wrote brilliantly exciting music for solo trumpets, provides study and performance editions for the three most frequently performed and recorded trumpet duo works of the Baroque era. Each work has a complete set of trumpet parts in C, D, piccolo B-flat and A to provide performers parts for the instrument they prefer to use and practical study material for enhancing transposition capabilities necessary when encountering baroque works published in various keys. Optional trumpet parts for the second movement of the Manfredini Concerto and concluding measures of the third movement of the Vivaldi Concerto are provided.  All have suggested dynamics and no ornamentation except for cadential trills and a single ornament added to the final two measures of the Manfredini Concerto. Cited by the International Trumpet Guild Journal as a great introduction to the world of atonal music, Intermediate Serial Studies for Trumpet bridges the gap between tonal music and more difficult atonal literature with 20 short twelve-tone studies set primarily in the middle and lower registers. Settings vary from lyrical to marcato and tempos range from adagio to allegro. Using serial twelve-tone technique, each study's tone row is used only in original and retrograde (reversed) forms. Interval review in the studies begins with seconds and gradually expands to focus on thirds, fourths, tritones, fifths, sixths and sevenths. While 14 different time signatures are presented, beat subdivisions are not complex to facilitate precise rhythmic execution. Atonal music need not be barren of musical expression as applying creative interpretation with technical accuracy can make the music vibrant and exciting.
