Premiered by the UWO Relaxed Concert String QuartetThe Jinn, from Arabian folklore are a group of beings invisible to humans with tales ranging from the magical and enchanting to the grotesque and macabre. They are shapeshifters and are neither inherently good nor evil beings. (note: Jinn is the modern transliteration of Djinn). I have always been a fan of the Arabic style of music, so I wrote the piece incorporating parts of the Arabic style, while mixing in some aspects of classical harmony. My piece aims to capture the feel of the Jinn in the form of a waltz, imagining a group of Jinn dancing to it, with the Arabian night sky as their backdrop.Includes:- Score- 4 Parts (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello)- 3 Maqam practice sheets (Violin, Viola, Cello).
