Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719763 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. 8 pages. Curtis Hanson #6069357. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719763). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include Holy, Holy, Holy, For All the Saints, and A Mighty Fortress Is Our God. This collection of arrangements is also available for SATB voices and piano or piano solo.

SATB choir, keyboard - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.50-7051-E Composed by Raymond H Haan. Lent, Thanksgiving. Instrument parts. 6 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #50-7051-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.50-7051-E). Written in a classical style, this bright and happy anthem is useful as a choral call to worship or anthem of praise. Both accompaniment and choral parts are vigorous and assertive, reflecting the call to Praise Him for His wondrous doings. The repeated chords and the running passages of the accompaniment provide an energetic background for the easy choral parts. Accompaniment may be played by Organ or Piano. Particularly useful in connection with Psalm 95, Third Sunday of Lent, Year ARevised Common Lectionary.

Soprano Saxophone Duet Soprano Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1129703 Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. Arranged by Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,Chamber,Contemporary. Score. 31 pages. Studio at the Post #730114. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1129703). An arrangement for piano and soprano saxophone based on the quasi-concerto by the same name. Duration: 11 - 12 minutes, 18 pp. Description: In Korneitchouk's mischievously titled quasi-concerto for saxophone and orchestra, The Disqualification of Harry Semantix as Trial Juror for East County, the concept of Truth and Lie is explored musically, as well as metaphorically implying something deeper. The Truth (the opening theme after an introduction pieces it together) is slowly mutated into its opposite, the Lie -- upside down, backward, twice as long and strident (the closing theme just before the double cadenza at the end of the piece). The double cadenza, is in fact a cadenza for the saxophone played over a wild orchestral stretto -- a kind of orchestral cadenza -- both simultaneously intoning bits and pieces of either theme, and seems to ask: Can Truth coexist with its Lie? or perhaps, Can Truth exist without its Lie?The first incarnation of The Disqualification of Harry... (available on CD from Old King Cole Productions) appears as a duo for saxophone and piano and has only more recently been orchestrated. The composer tells us that the idea for this piece initially germinated from his own frustrations of having to serve jury duty and being disqualified as a potential juror for answering honestly during jury selection. East County is to be understood as Any County. Separate sax part included.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1208460 By Various. By Words: Edward Mote / Music: John B. Dykes and Lyndell Leatherman. Arranged by Lyndell Leatherman. Christian,Religious,Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. Leatherman Music Services #806569. Published by Leatherman Music Services (A0.1208460). This well-loved text is set here to the sturdy MELITA tune (perhaps more often associated with Eternal Father, Strong to Save) and arranged for SATB choir with piano accompaniment. Due to the relative scarcity of men in many church choirs, I have also arranged it for SSAB choir, and you will find that edition posted separately. Either edition would work well on those occasions when a big festival choir piece is called for.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1411452 Composed by Alexandros Pirillis. Classical,Contemporary,Renaissance. 14 pages. Songburd Music #993718. Published by Songburd Music (A0.1411452). “Fall’s Calling†takes us to a time when the music of the Renaissance crosses a threshold into the modern world.  With its sobering and thoughtful foundations and captivating folk-like melody we are brought to experience the coming of fall’s season, being touched in heart with feelings of soft-spoken melancholy as the gray and colder days replace the brightness and warmth of summer.  The temper of this lovely piece calls forth many thoughts and images of a time long gone, when kings and queens ruled and knights fought to prove their valor, and when tales of dragons were told around the unsteady flames of nightly campfires.  When listening to “Fall’s Calling†one may—perhaps—picture themselves on a lone walk along a wind-swept shore with bending blades of grass, where well-worn rocks are battered by chilling waves, and when looking to the horizon one sees a shadowy castle looming and silhouetted in the background, looking forlorn and lonely in the distance as it stands tall among the colors of autumn.
