Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.533493

Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 15 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3000187. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533493).

Souvenirs d’Île Maurice begins with a lyrical pastorale in 12/8 time which features chromatic harmonies in the piano. The Rondo section presents first a Waltz theme in minor mode and then reprises the pastorale theme which is then varied in several brilliant passages.

One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in
1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director of
music of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London.

While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series in
London. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octave
mechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and began
touring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the
«turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, through
China and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It was
during this period that he converted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). He
subsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyages
were subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collection known
as The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution.

Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. On March 27 1865, he
performed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire Imperial
Family. After 1865, nothing more is known about him.

2017 Holiday Contest Entry

                        The world that there isn’t

How did

Dante one day

in the hell and after I return

Down in the world that there is not

In pieces of ice

It reduced your heart

you walk, walk,

do not you think the pain

of lost things,

caresses denied

the cold that you feel and clouds the mind

At What you cling

and where are you going?

it is dark at night

and you think only

that Close the eyes

it means to die

in this station might end

the life,the joy,

but which ? future

and that  what you have inside

It makes you tougher

you mirrors, reflect

in the void of others

Look at them in the eye

precipitates, reel

this is the life

in the world that there is no

and while run after a blind butterfly

and meanwhile look back on fairy tale ever read

and you search  the laughter, games and friends

return back, hope of happy days

everyone is inside his sick world

and that who you are looking for is not there, is lost

only shadows lurking

and the moon that shines

but she is not always that

here in the world that there is no

and while you get lost in 1000 miseries

and then you start up into the nothingness that awaits

if you touch people

they hastens and takes offense

and lengthens the step that knows where it goes

you don’t look, you don’t dare

don’t hope and don’t you think

and the snow falls and while you pray

that this god distracted

realizes that exist

a deeper world

what light does not

but your soul is not dead yet

walk, walk

and she opens the door

that goes to the world

that out shines

there is still a spark of love that awaits

and here it is

that rises  the charm

the flower is reborn

fear and fright

heat that feeds

sun is shining

and with its rays

protects, defends

and while you mirrors  ,with the sun in your eyes

and while you look back  the dark of before

there is that girl

that inside the night

smiles, turns and then goes away ...

you look at her, until she is a distant shadow

Turn around and answer

to life calling

As Dante  did one day

in the hell and after I return

Down in the world that there is no ...

Music While You Work was a daytime radio programme of continuous live popular music broadcast in the United Kingdom twice daily on workdays from 23 June 1940 ]until 29 September 1967 by the BBC. Initially, the morning edition was generally broadcast on the BBC Home Service at 10:30am, with the afternoon edition at 3pm on the Forces/General Forces Programme - and after the war on the BBC Light Programme. Between August 1942 and July 1945, a third edition was broadcast at 10:30pm for night-shift workers.

The programme began in World War II with the idea that playing non-stop popular/light music at an even tempo would help factory workers become more productive.[4][5] It originally consisted of live music (light orchestras, dance bands, brass and military bands and small instrumental ensembles). In order to make studios more available during the day, it was decided in 1963 that the shows would be pre-recorded (often in the evening or on Sundays).
