Praise to the Lord – for SATB choir with piano. This is a hymn of praise, thanksgiving and celebration, for looking back, looking at the present, and looking ahead. The refrain is majestic and uplifting, with voices rejoicing in both unison and four-part harmony. Each verse is prayer-like and more reflective, first with the women’s voices, then the men’s, and lastly all voices a cappella. The final refrain includes a descant with a hint of the traditional hymn Praise to the Lord! The Amighty, the King of creation. The anthem ends in glorious fashion. This is suitable for general use, for Thanksgiving, or for a service or program celebrating a special milestone, anniversary or event. As an extra option, the congregation could join in singing the refrain. $15.00 - THE PURCHASE PRICE ENTITLES YOU TO MAKE ENOUGH PHOTOCOPIES FOR ONE CHOIR IN ONE FACILITY. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955857 Composed by Jacques Offenbach. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Concert,Opera,Romantic Period. Octavo. 11 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6476035. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955857). As in The Student Prince and Faust the main character arrives at a tavern packed with students who probably should be studying, but instead they are setting the scene for the real drama… In Les Contes d’Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann) a lively drinking song opens the scene at Luther’s tavern with a rowdy crowd of students teasing bartender Luther and calling for beer and wine.  Originally scored for principle cast members and 4-part men’s chorus, this arrangement of Scene IV of the Prologue: Luther’s Drinking Song ‘Drig! Drig! Drig! Drig!’ is adapted for 4-part SATB ensemble and piano accompaniment.  This exhilarating drinking chorus is a great opener for an evening of drinking songs – or an evening of light outdoor entertainment – or a recital for community engagement.  It is in original French language.  Performance time:2:40+- Bring us your beer, your wine; Fill our glass until morning! Your wine is ours!

Small Ensemble Bass Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792274 Composed by Diefendorfer, Ryan. Arranged by Diefendorfer, Ryan. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 60 pages. Gordon Cherry #4803763. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792274). Stephansdom is a new composition, descriptive of the iconic St. Stephan's Cathedral in central Vienna. Ryan Diefendorfer wrote this work for the Indiana University Trombone Ensemble for Bass Trombone solo and Trombone Choir (6-part) to be performed by Carl Lenthe at the 2012 Eastern Music Festival. Ryan's work was awarded the winner of the 2012 Eastern Trombone Workshop National Composition Competition. St. Stephen’s Cathedral, also known as Stephansdom, is one of Vienna’s most remarkable city icons. Dating back to 1137, Stephandsom towers above the rest of Vienna’s skyline and has been a constant presence in the lives of the Viennese for nearly one thousand years. Among the buildings that the Viennese find closest to their hearts, Stephansdom is certainly one of them I. Groundbreaking The first movement depicts the troubles that St. Stephen’s Cathedral had in getting its groundbreaking as a church. The opening of the piece marks the celebration of the Viennese when St. Stephen’s was first constructed in 1137, during the Romanesque era. However, the church faced many issues-from being destroyed by the Babenberg Empire to being decimated by a fire-before the church began its construction in the Gothic style in 1307. The first movement depicts these struggles before resolving to an open chord. II. Steffl Steffl, the nickname for Stephansdom’s soaring north tower, is one of the characteristics of the cathedral that the Viennese find so endearing. This movement is very upbeat and is meant to portray the excitement shared by the Viennese for this beautiful addition to Stephansdom, which was completed in 1433. Stephansdom’s north tower is the tallest structure in Vienna, and distinctly stands out within Vienna’s skyline. III. 1945 As World War II was coming to a close in 1945, Stephansdom’s roof caught fire from a neighboring building, destroying large portions of the church. One climax occurs at m.30, which depicts Stephansdom’s great bell, the Pummerin, crashing down to the ground. This movement depicts the chaotic nature of the raging fire of 1945. IV. Anton Pilgrim Anton Pilgrim was the last, and perhaps most beloved, architect who worked on St. Stephen’s Cathedral in the Gothic style. One of his most famous projects was the St. Stephen’s organ loft, which is depicted by an opening organ-like canon. The final movement to the piece ends in a chorale-like fashion, demonstrating the Viennese’s love for Anton Pilgrim, as well as Stephansdom, one of Vienna’s most iconic sights. This work of 12 minutes in length is appropriate for advanced performers.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023766 Composed by Christian Humcke. A Cappella,Contemporary. Octavo. 11 pages. Christian Humcke #6404851. Published by Christian Humcke (A0.1023766). Instrumentation: SATB a cappella choir (with divisi)Duration: 6'Completed: January 2017I wrote the poem The Landowner a few years ago in a poetry class at my undergraduate alma mater, Bucknell University. When I heard that there was an opportunity to write for a student formed choir at Peabody, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to set one of my previously written poems to music. I looked back at poems which I had written, and came across The Landowner. It continues to intrigue me to this day since I am still uncertain as to what it is about. This enigmatic, earthy, and hauntingly repetitive poem poses more questions than it does provide answers. This is something which fascinates me, and which I sought to depict in the music. The Landowner:The landowner sends out his three servants. Each go to work in separate fields; To rake the leaves,to harvest the crops,to pluck the fruits from the tree.Working endlessly,They turn their heads from each other. They refuse to help, they refuse to talk.Good work is done, but for what purpose? The landowner plucks fresh leavesfrom a papaya tree.Although he is blind,he still sees the sun.The mooing of cows andcrowing of roosters ceases. He stands in the shade, waiting for his servants. They offer him papaya,He shakes his head

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.778049 Composed by John David. Arranged by Jen Mathers. 20th Century,Pop,Praise & Worship. Score and parts. 4 pages. Jen Mathers #5790833. Published by Jen Mathers (A0.778049). Arranged for standard string quartet (NOTE: the audio and video samples are performed by a cellist covering all violin, viola, and cello parts, but the voicing/octaves are identical to the string quartet arrangement). This choral work was originally written by John David for the band Airwaves in 1978. It was later arranged by Peter Knight and recorded by the King's Singers. This transcription for strings follows the very popular King's Singers version. The song is about 2 1/2 minutes long, and easy to read for all string parts. Doublestops could be skipped for beginning players. Bowings are included to facilitate uniform ensemble playing. It is a secular song but is often used by church choirs. It is a lovely ensemble piece when played by string quartet, and can be used for weddings, memorial services, or any occasion requiring hopeful or somber music. According to the composer: The inspiration for New Day was quite simple; I had just had a major blow in my personal life, and was sitting alone late at night on the settee feeling very low, and watching an ominous story on the news about the very real possibility of nuclear war. I started singing to the (hopefully) soon-to arrive New Day like it was an entity, that would rescue me from the depths. If the sun came up and the birds started singing as usual then I could believe that it really was the new day in which life would go on, and in which hope would survive.

Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953625 Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). Contemporary,Latin. Octavo. 5 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #6405603. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953625). La ciudad sumergida (The Submerged City) for four-part treble chorus and nature soundtrack by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) Commissioned for Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale A setting of an excerpt of Río de La Plata en lluvia from Mascarilla y Trébol (1938) by Alfonsina Storni (1938) Copyright © 2020 Adrienne Inglis Founder, composer, and singer with Inversion Ensemble of Austin, Texas, Adrienne Inglis also serves as principal flute with the Central Texas Philharmonic, flute instructor at Southwestern University, and flutist with flute/harp duo Chaski. She has music degrees from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Texas at Austin. An avid birder and environmentalist, she lives in the rural hill country of Central Texas. Poet Alfonsina Storni began writing during a tumultuous childhood fraught with economic hardships, many disruptive moves, and an alcoholic father. She danced with a theatrical troupe and then became a teacher and journalist. She bore a child out of wedlock and found herself working as a single mother during socially oppressive times. In Buenos Aires she joined the emerging world of women’s rights, becoming an important literary voice in the movement. When her breast cancer returned, her lifelong passion for the sea culminated in her suicide off of the coast of Argentina. Río de La Plata en lluvia from Mascarilla y Trébol (1938) lines 1-4 by Alfonsina Storni in the public domain Ya casi el cielo te apretaba, ciego, y sumergida una ciudad tenías en tu cuerpo de grises heliotropos neblivelado en su copón de llanto. [The sky was about to embrace you, blind, and you had in your body of gray heliotropes a submerged city, with the misty sky like a chalice about to overflow with tears.] Program note: Commissioned for Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale of Naperville, Illinois, La ciudad sumergida (The Submerged City) by Adrienne Inglis for four-part treble chorus with nature soundtrack captures the mood of a river, a city, the cloudy sky, and the poet’s own profound melancholy. The sound of rain creates both the ambiance of a misty day on the river and the sensation of cathartic crying from great sadness and pain. The city’s reflection on the river’s surface gives the illusion that the city is submerged in the water. The reflection of the clouds hovering low over Río de La Plata looks like gray heliotrope flowers. The apocalyptic images of a submerged city and of tears overflowing from the chalice-sky eerily foreshadow rising sea levels due to anthropogenic global warming. The nature soundtrack of rain was recorded by the composer in the hill country of central Texas, July 2020. Performance note: This aleatoric, asynchronous composition is suitable for remote singing along with the video score and nature soundtrack. Observe the order of entrances, but know that it’s not meant to line up exactly. Finish a phrase even if another phrase has started. Diphthongs move immediately to the second vowel sound. Ya begins with the [dÊ’] sound and llanto begins with the [Ê’] sound, both typical of the Buenos Aires accent. Sing quite expressively except for the neblivelado section which is misty and veiled. The director may wish to indicate the rehearsals numbers or the singers may follow the time on the video-or both. Duration: 3:08 Link to video with soundtrack is available from the composer (http://adrienneinglis.com). Large Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522130 Composed by Ditlev Ludvig Rogert (1742-1813) and Hans Ernst Krøyer (1798 -1879). Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Contemporary. Score and parts. 37 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3428555. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522130). Denmark has two national anthems. The first, Der er et yndigt land (There is a lovely land) is the civil national anthem and the most frequently performed. When it was first published in 1819, the anthem had twelve verses but today it has been significantly shortened. The dotted rhythm in measure 15 (in Parts 1 and 2) is sometimes played as two equal eighth notes (quavers). The second anthem, Kong Christian stod ved højen mast (King Christian stood by the lofty mast) has equal status but is mainly used for royal and military occasions. At such times, it is either performed alone or the two anthems are played together. Known simply as Kong Christian it is traditionally sung in Denmark immediately after midnight every New Year's Eve. The audio sample contains the first, more popular anthem. These quick and easy national anthem arrangements are essential for traveling musicians, bands, instrumental groups and both amateur and professional ensembles. You can play it with any virtually any combination of instruments: symphonic band, clarinet choir, brass ensemble, brass band, solos, duets and trios - almost anything! This arrangement is in six independent parts each transposed into a variety of keys. For the most satisfying sound you’ll need to get a good balance between each part possibly with an emphasis on the melodic line. If you have a non-standard ensemble, you can pick 'n' mix as required. The piano reduction can fill missing parts or can be used as the basis for an accompaniment. Note that this anthem is virtually identical to the anthem of Finland. There is a minor difference in part of the melody and the repeat structure is different. This arrangement consists of a four-page score with seven instrumental staves and three percussion staves. The following parts are printed on separate pages. The score and all the parts are contained in the same pdf file. Part 1 in B flat (clarinet, trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, soprano sax); Part 1 in C (glockenspiel, violin); Part 1 in E flat (alto sax, E flat clarinet); Part 1a in C (octave above concert for flute, piccolo, oboe, violin) and Part 1a in E flat (E flat cornet in brass band). Note the parts in Kong Kristian go a bit too low for flute and oboe, so Parts 1a or 2a should be used instead. Part 2 in B flat (clarinet, trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, soprano sax); Part 2 in C (flute, oboe, violin); Part 2 in E flat (alto sax); Part 2a in C (octave above concert pitch for flute, oboe, violin); Part 2a in B flat for clarinets; Part 2a in E flat (minor 3rd below concert for E flat alto clarinet). Part 3 in B flat (tenor saxophone, B flat baritone); Part 3 in C (bass clef for trombone, bassoon); Part 3 in C alto (alto clef for viola); Part 3 in E flat        (tenor horn, alto sax); Part 3 in F (French horn);  Part 3a in B flat (8ve below concert for 3rd clarinets in band). Part 4 in B flat (tenor sax, baritone); Part 4 in C (bass clef for trombone, euphonium, bassoon, cello); Part 4 in E flat (tenor horn, alto sax); Part 4 in F (French horn). Part 5 in B flat (baritone); Part 5 in C (bass clef for trombone, euphonium, bassoon. Part 6 in B flat (B flat bass, bass clarinet); Part 6 in C (bass clef for bass trombone, bassoon, contrabassoon, tuba, double bass); Part 6 in E flat  (E flat bass, baritone sax). There’s also a part for timpani, percussion (3 players) and a piano reduction.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1325401 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Christmas. 9 pages. RayThompsonMusic #913639. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1325401). Bring Us in Good Ale is a medieval English drinking song celebrating good drink and honoring Our Lady. For the medieval man, convivial drinking was a part of life, and drinks were enjoyed with nearly every meal. The English beverage of choice was ale. In Bring us in Good Ale the singers jocularly excuse themselves from mutton, eggs and pudding and instead stand firm in their call for their favorite drink. As they list all the dishes they refuse, the singers indirectly give thanks for the good season that has led to the plenty they are enjoying.Gustav Holst arranged it for unaccompanied choir as one of his 4 carols Op.34.It is quite short.Arranged here for wind quintet.Bring us in good ale, and bring us in good ale;For our Blessed Lady's sake, bring us in good ale.Bring us in no brown bread, for that is made of bran,Nor bring us in no white bread, there therein is no game; But bring us in good ale.Bring us in no beef, for there is many bones,But bring us in good ale, for that goes down at once; And bring us in good ale.Bring us in no bacon, for that is passing fat,But bring us in good ale, and give us enough of that; And bring us in good ale.Bring us in no mutton, for that is often lean,Nor bring us in no tripes, for they be seldom clean.Bring us in no eggys, for there are many shells,But bring us in good ale, and give us nothing else.Bring us in no butter, for there are many hairs;Nor bring us in no pig's flesh, for that will make us bears.Bring us in no puddings, for therein is all God's good;Nor bring us in no venison, for that is not for our blood; But bring us in good ale.Bring us in no capon's flesh, for that is often dear;Nor bring us in no duck's flesh, for they slobber in the mere; But bring us in good ale. Octavo. 6 pages. Brock Lupton #4764195. Published by Brock Lupton (A0.942423). This setting is ideal for Remembrance Day: it is also suitable for a funeral or celebration of life. It is singable as a congregation hymn, as an anthem for unison voices, or as a vocal solo (range A below middle C to D a ninth above middle C). The text is by Canadian poet Frederick George Scott (1861-1944). The original title is Requiescant (Let them rest). The source is Christian Poetry in Canada (ed David A. Kent ed, Anglican Book Center and ECW Press, Toronto, Canada, 1993) page 54. Scott was a military chaplain during World War I. This poem was, in the poet’s own words, [b]egun while I was lying awake in a sleeping-bag under a tarpaulin at Brielen, near Ypres…. during the gas attack on April 22nd, 1915…. As I lay awake, I wondered what all our comrades who had passed over were doing now…. I finished the poem at a little village called Robec. As I wrote it, I could see through the window, my host, who was a carpenter, making a baby’s coffin. (http://www.canadianpoetry.ca/confederation/FGScott/collected_poems/notes.htm) I have made a few slight changes: awful  has become awe-filled Dear Christ became O Christ, and the line A weary road these men have trod has been altered to A weary road these warriors trod. Both the music and the original text are in the public domain in Canada, where copyright expires 50 years after the death of the author or composer.A brass quintet arrangement compatible with the voice part is available separately.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549215 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. Score and Parts. 47 pages. Jmsgu3 #3467666. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549215). A musical monument: the first known composition in history to employ dynamics. Instrumentation: Medium-sized Concert Band. 1 PiccoloAt least 2 flutes, clarinets, alto & tenor saxesAt least 1 bass clarinetAt least  2 trumpets, horns, trombones & tubas4 timpaniScore: 20 pg. 81 measures. Duration: 3:45 at half-note = 86. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He, therefore, developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.
