Choral Choir,Choral (TTBB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1374352 By Elton John. By Elton John and Lee Hall. Arranged by Chip Prince. A Cappella,Barbershop,Broadway,Musical/Show. 8 pages. Chip Prince #958955. Published by Chip Prince (A0.1374352). This song by Elton John, from the musical Billy Elliot, was originally written for the character of young Billy to sing as an emotional and revealing statement about what dancing means to him. This confession can, in this context, describe the sensations of group singing as well. This particular arrangement was created expressly for TTBB Barbershop ensemble, whether a chorus with soloist(s) or (potentially) a quartet plus a soloist. A brief explanatory monologue can be spoken during the introduction to set the stage for the song. This setting is moderately challenging, but once learned it allows a lot of room for expressive rubato and a couple of climactic held chords in Barbershop style. It ends introspectively and quietly.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534554 Composed by Thierry Pélicant. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 136 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #4283537. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534554). In 2004, the Orchestre Philharmonique de l’Oise commissioned its musical director, t Thierry Pélicant, this concerto for the late Claude Caens, the principal contrabass of this orchestra. This great artist, who was friends with everyone in this ensemble, wanted everyone to have a part in the festivities, not only the strings, but also the winds, the horns, the trumpets and the percussion, and also that they all should be heard ! Thierry Pélicant wrote therefore a concerto which is at once very symphonic – and for this reason, it is strongly advised that the contrabass be amplified – but also a piece which would express the friendship between the orchestra and the soloist. This concerto strives to be both warm and lyrical : it is not a virtuoso showpiece, inspite of the real technical that it offers to the soloist and which he would do well to try to hid them from the audience. It is also not a battle between the orchestra and this gentle giant : they stroll together, sometimes joyously, sometimes with nostalgia and go through the strong storms which do not fail to present themselves, smiling together and finding them to be envigorating. The work is scored for (2(Pic)2(EH)22/2200/Timp/2perc/strings) and lasts aproximately 23 minutes. The orchestral parts are on rental from the pubilsher.  The piano reduction with the solo part is available for sale on this site.Thierry Pélicant was born in 1957 at Sainte-Adresse, France. After studying the organ and the horn, his meeting with Jean-Claude Hartemann, the Musical Director of the Opéra Comique in Paris lead him to decide to explore conducting. He was the student of Haremann for fifteen years. He is the Musical Director of the André Messager Orchestre and has also directed the Orchestre Philharmonique de l’Oise since 1980, one of the oldest French orchestras, since it was founded in 1750. A passionate ssupporter of French music, Pélicant reconstructed the Messe solennelle of L.V.A Boïeldieu and Te Deum of 1792 by Philidor and premièred and recorded the Suite Parnassienne, Massenet’s last work. At the same time, he has also served the music of our time in premièring or recording the works of Dazzi, Marchand, Braconnier, Bénard, Drouin, Preschez, etc. As a composer, musical grammar and stylistic debates only interest him from afar. As a true gourmet (since cooking is another of his passions), he strives to write the music that pleases him, that would be enjoyable to play and which would be enjoyable to hear, hopefully with real pleasure and in which he tries to express the emotions and the pleasant or surprising states of being which, to hime, these works are tied. Through this process, he has created concertos (for oboe, for bassoon, for organ, for contrabass), Escales & paysages, ma monumental literary concerto for narrator, piano and orchestra, written for his friend Dominique Preschez, Operas (Histoires comme ça, Ribouldingue, Élise et le fantôme) ; With the poet Luis Porquet, he wrote the song cycle Ombre légère (for soprano, harp and orchestre), Rhapsodie du Havre (for tenor and chamber orchestra, a commission from the Forum de Normandie to commemorate the 500 years of the founding of the city Le Havre), Et de toi, Bethleem, Christmas oratorio for baritone, chorus and orchestra and, finally, commissioned by the Orchestre de l’Oise in honor of the centennial of the First World War 14, fresque de la Grande Guerre, for the tenor Daniel Gàlvez-Vallejo, children’s chorus and orchestra. In the area of chamber music, he has written a sonata for horn and piano, for the Festival de Giverny, Borée (quintet for oboe and strings), Sextuor d’été, and Milonga (septet inspired by the World of Tango Music). Published in 2005, his novel Carnets de Walter Crane, explores the sufferings of a composer who has the obligation to write a string quartet ...

Published by Abundant Silence (A0.1260605). SPIRALS IN THE SKY, BY MARTHA HILL DUNCANFOR SOLO PIANO, LATE INTERMEDIATE, 21 PAGES.....................................In this whimsical marriage of astronomy and music, my husband,  astrophysicist, Dr. Martin Duncan and I have combined our talents to celebrate the beauty of the night sky and the magic of music. M.H. DuncanMartha Hill Duncan’s passion for music started early, inspired by her mother, who sang and played the piano by ear. Martha was a member of the first graduating class of the Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from the University of Texas at Austin. Her piano works have been inspired, at least in part, by her long-time career as a piano teacher and some of these pieces, as well as her art songs, appear in educational publications and syllabi. Piano collection titles include The Sunken Garden, Isla Vista Suite, Precipitations, Angular Measures, Limestone Etchings, Rainy Days and Cottage Days. Since moving from the United States to Canada, many of her compositions have been inspired by Canadian landscapes and texts. In January 2014, her youth opera, Searching the Painted Sky, with poet/librettist Janet Windeler Ryan, was premiered at the National Opera Association Convention in New York City. She was named a finalist for the 2020 Louis Applebaum Award.A former piano examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music, she is also a founding member of Red Leaf Pianoworks, a self-publishing composers’ collective. Originally from Houston, Texas, Martha and her husband Martin have lived in Kingston, Ontario since 1988. She also conducts the women’s choir She Sings! and has two grown children and two granddaughters. To explore more of her music, please visit www.marthahillduncan.comDr. Martin Duncan was born in London, England and was raised in Montreal, Canada. As a child, his biggest question was, “What would happen if...?†His first experiments involved creating foul-smelling concoctions with his chemistry set in hisparents’ basement. He survived and went on to complete an Honours Physics degree at McGill University, followed by graduate degrees in astronomy at the Universities of Toronto and Texas at Austin. Post-doctoral research was performed at Cornell University, the University of Toronto and the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1988, he became a professor of astronomy and physics at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. In his academic career he has co-authored over 120 scientific papers, which have been cited over 8,000 times. He has presented numerous invited talks at international scientific conferences and has been the guest speaker at many public lectures. His research has ranged from the study of black holes to simulations of the formation and orbital evolution of planets and comets. He is best known for the prediction of the existence of a disk of small icy bodies beyond Neptune, which he and his colleagues called the Kuiper Belt. In 1996, the International Astronomical Union named Asteroid 6115 “martinduncan†in honor of his contributions to planetary dynamics.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.753645 Composed by George Gershwin. Arranged by John Hoesly. 20th Century,Folk,Jazz. 58 pages. PRS&B #6202151. Published by PRS&B (A0.753645). Return Of The Blues: from Rhapsody In Blue- for big band/jazz ensemble arranged by John Hoesly. Based on a theme from Rhapsody In Blue by George Gershwin. Rhapsody In Blue is considered an American musical masterpiece.  Written by George Gershwin in 1924, right from it’s opening notes it conjures up The Jazz Age, The American Scene, New York City, and as Gershwin himself described, national pep.  Return Of The Blues is known as the ritornello (Italian: return) theme as it appears seven times during RIB.  It is one of the more famous themes from RIB, being heard right after the clarinet glissando in the beginning of the piece.  Here, it is presented as a stand-alone tune.  It is written with a trumpet solo, but the solo can be played by any member of the band.  Difficulty level is intermediate and certainly playable by most high school jazz ensembles.  Lead Tpt Ab5.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1261270 Composed by J.L. Macbeth Bain. Arranged by Todd Marchand. 19th Century,Christian,Folk,Sacred,Traditional. 16 pages. Con Spirito Music #854340. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1261270). Brother James' Air was composed by James Leith Macbeth Bain (1860-1925), a Scottish-born poet, author, mystic, and healer whose ministry took him to Liverpool and London, where he became known simply as Brother James. The tune is often sung to the metrical paraphrase of Psalm 23, The Lord's My Shepherd, by the Puritan religious author and English politician Francis Rous (c. 1581-1659), published in his The Psalms of David set forth in English meeter (1643). The angular, highly arpeggiated tune in bar form (AAB) is both stark and lovely, rising and falling before ascending to a high tonic cadence in its final phrase. Its harmonic simplicity — consisting primarily of I, IV, and V chords — lends itself to alternate harmonizations with substitute chords. Following a short introduction, this arrangement presents the tune four times: first, alternating between the two trumpets; second, by trio of horn, trombone, and tuba; third, in minor tonality (reflecting the psalm's verse 4 and the text's paraphrase, Yea, though I walk thro' death’s dark vale); and fourth, with powerful extended harmonies and surprise cadences resolving to a quiet, peaceful conclusion.  ©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Large Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Cello,Clarinet,Double Bass,Drums,Flute,Horn,Tenor Saxophone,Trombone,Trumpet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025251 Composed by Adrian E. Wagner. Contemporary,Jazz. Score and parts. 46 pages. Adrian E. Wagner #4607643. Published by Adrian E. Wagner (A0.1025251). Composed in 2018, this piece essentially starts out as a waltz, with a surprise halfway through. The first 3/4 melody you hear may sound a tad reminiscent of a waltz composed by Dmitri Shostakovich, which was partially intended. The second melody, consisting mainly of dissected chords, sounds more like carousel music, hence the title. And then we come to the plot twist.Towards the end of the piece, there is a subtle detail the composer threw in, which most listeners might not notice. During a section in C minor, the counter-melody transitions into major 3 bars before the lead melody does. In the counter-melody is an unexpected C major chord in C minor, (an E-natural where you likely expected an E-flat). This was actually done to foreshadow the melody jumping back into major for the finale. To a certain extent, Carousel City is Adrian's love letter to Binghamton. He personally believes this piece to be one of the best in his archive, and hopes that you experience as much fun hearing it as he did writing it.

Rhythm Section,Small Ensemble Bass Clef Instrument,Bass Trombone,Double Bass,Drum Set,Drums,Euphonium,Keyboard,Piano,Tenor Trombone,Trombone/Baritone B.C.,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.961200 Composed by John Rox. Arranged by Bob Coil. 20th Century,Christmas,Contemporary,Jazz,Pop. Score and parts. 33 pages. Polished Brass #4409943. Published by Polished Brass (A0.961200). This arrangement for Trombone quintet with optional rhythm section should be played with swing eighth notes and a feeling that reflects the tongue-in-cheek humor of the lyrics. It can be performed with a vocalist, as well as just instruments. Letter D and E include some fun glissandos, so don't be shy about bringing them out. Whether you include the extra parts or just play it as a quintet, this is bound to be an audience pleaser. When Gayla Peevey recorded this song in 1953 she was just 10. It may have sounded like a strange Christmas wish; she wanted a Hippopotamus for Christmas. However, her recording became a hit that led to the purchase of a hippo for the Oklahoma City Zoo. The Bones of Cincinnatus found a welcome audience in 2018, with the birth a hippopotamus named, Fiona, at the Cincinnati Zoo.    The arranger, Bob Coil, is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of music, where he studied bass trombone with Betty Glover. Dr. Coil is the leader of the Bones of Cincinnatus trombone ensemble in Cincinnati, OH.
