Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.917412 Composed by Gregory Fritze. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 370 pages. Musica Nova USA #6321277. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917412). The Four Seasons in the Basque Country is a 4 movement symphony for concert band. It is the Third Prize Winner of the 2020 American Prize in Composition - Concert Band. Grade 5, duration 27 minutes. The piece depicts four different places in the Basque country that the composer feels best show the changes of season. The first movement is Winter in the Costa Norte (Galerna). Galerna is on the northerncoast and is subject to harsh storms in the winter. As the piece starts off with a light-hearted dance in thepiccolo, a storm is approaching from afar. At first the storm seems to be in the distance but as it comes closer it overtakes the festivities in a bluster. For a short time two conductors are needed as the concertband is split into two groups – one showing the light-hearted dance led by the piccolo, the other thecacophony of the storm led by the percussion. The storm overtakes everything as it ends the movement with a flourish. The second movement Spring in Rioja Alavesa is a calming contrast to the first movement like the freshness of a spring day. The sun rises and shines beams of light onto the acres of grape vines. After a timea short rain comes to refresh and clean the plants. The third movement Autumn at the Guggenheim Museum is in a traditional 3rd movement form of a symphony, minuet and trio, but the harmonies sometimes use bitonality, having the melody in one key while the accompaniment is in another to suggest surrealism. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbaois one of the world’s most famous museums, not only for the surreal art inside, but also because of the architecture of the building itself. The fourth movement Summer in Bilbao is based on a dance melody composed in the Ezpata- dantza Basque style. It employs a rhythmic element with alternating 6/8 and 3â„4 meters where the eighth notes are basically equal, but in the dance the 3â„4 meter is actually a little bit longer. This type of subtlemanipulation of rhythm is used similarly in the Viennese Waltz, when the 3rd beat would be stretched outto accommodate the dancers. The Ezpata-dantza dance continues until the Altza Gastiak, the officialsong of the Bilbao Athletic Club, the local soccer team of Bilbao, is heard. After this the Ezpata-dantzamelody is transformed from a happy dance to a triumphant melody and rousing finale. In The Four Seasons in the Basque Country all of the themes are original except for the short excerpt ofAltza Gastiakin the 4th movement. Some themes are composed in the style of Basque folk dances.Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer. Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317749 By Keith Terrett. By KÄrlis Baumanis. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional. 26 pages. Keith Terrett #906430. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1317749). He national anthem of Latvia arranged for SymphonyOrchestra. The music and lyrics were written in 1873 by KÄrlis Baumanis, a teacher, who was part of the Young Latvian nationalist movement. It has been speculated that Baumanis may have borrowed part of the lyrics from a popular song which was sung to tune of God Save the Queen, modified them and set them to music of his own. Baumanis's lyrics were different from the modern ones: he used the term Baltics synonymously and interchangeably with Latvia and Latvians, so Latvia was actually mentioned only at the beginning of the first verse. Later the term Latvia was removed and replaced with Baltics to avoid a ban on the song. This has led to the misapprehension that the term Latvia was not part of the song until 1920, when it was chosen as national anthem and the word Baltics was replaced with Latvia.During the annexation of Latvia by the Soviet Union, the singing of Dievs, svÄ“tÄ« Latviju! was banned. The Soviet republic of Latvia had its own anthem. Dievs, svÄ“tÄ« Latviju! was restored as the state anthem of Latvia on 15 February 1990, a very short period before Latvian independence was restored. The anthem's tune was modernized with a new F major version that is used since 2014, formerly a G major version was used on LTV's sign-on and sign-offs daily from 2011 up to 2013.For more of my original music, great arrangements and all the national anthems of the world, check out my on-line stores:http://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/keith_terrethttp://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=keith+terrettNeed an anthem fast? Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1384296 Composed by John Burkett. Arranged by John Burkett. Christmas,Contemporary,Praise and Worship,Sacred. Score. 10 pages. John Burkett #968607. Published by John Burkett (A0.1384296). My Prelude on the Christmas carol tune Mendelssohn (Hark! the Herald Angels Sing) opens with a brief introduction based on the first measure of the third phrase of the tune.  An original harmonization of the entire tune follows, anchored by a repetitive rhythmic pattern of alternating rests and chords.  An interlude ensues, which is a rhythmically intensified reworking of the initial introduction.  Then the first phrase of the tune sounds in a new key in the pedal bass, accompanied by parallel triads in the hands.  Another interlude follows, also based on parallel triads, and leading to a statement in the pedals of the second phrase of the tune.  Slightly modified versions of the third and fourth phrases with varied accompaniments lead to a strong cadence.  The final section follows, beginning with an extended introduction that increases the rhythmic pace to the point where a constant stream of rapidly moving sixteenth notes drives forward to the final statement of the carol tune, and lends a sense of urgency as the flow continues underneath the melody.  The tempo slows slightly during a brief postlude in which the state trumpet reiterates a rhythmic pattern heard earlier.  I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.

String Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533700 Composed by Carson Cooman. Baroque,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 38 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3038895. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533700). Concerto for Portatif Organ and Strings (2006) was commissioned by the HarvardBaroque Chamber Orchestra and its director, Robert Mealy. The work is dedicatedto organist Nancy Granert, for whom the solo part was written. The work wascommissioned in celebration of the von Clemm Chamber Organ at The MemorialChurch, Harvard University, built in 2006 by Klop Organ Builders. As with many of my works, relationships between old and new musical concepts areexplored. In this piece, musical aspects of the Baroque organ concerto tradition(and Baroque style string playing) co-exist with more contemporary musicalelements. In particular, the directness of expression found in many Baroqueconcertante works is present throughout. Musical material is shared between themovements in a motivic fashion. The title of the first movement, Bricolage, is defined as “something made or puttogether using whatever materials happen to be available.†Thus, the musicalmaterial for the movement is of varying characters; these elements are assembledtogether in ways that allow them to comment on and inform each other. Some ofthese musical elements include: a traditional “overture†texture, a Basse deTrompette texture (with an organ reed stop in the left hand) common in FrenchBaroque organ music, and the French keyboard toccata style. The second movement, Elegia, is dark and searching in tone. It begins with arageful roar before quieting down to introduce its basic musical material – a simple“lament†theme in a folk-inflected style. This material is used for further explorations, building to passionate climaxes. Finally, the opening music returns, but this timewith a whisper. The movement winds down to a sad conclusion. After the soul-searching of the second movement, the third movement, Rondeau, issprightly and energetic. The basic material is a set of Baroque and Classical-stylefigurations (with a few American gospel inflections thrown in), firmly grounded in Gmajor. After minor diversions, the original material continues to return and ends thework with unfettered joy. This item is the score only.  The score and complete parts are available for sale as another item.

Tba. pft. - Intermediate-Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM597 Composed by James Pickering. A piece for Tuba and piano. Score and part. 14 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM597. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM597). ISBN 9790570484966.The story of this composition really begins with another composition entitled 'Play-Time' for solo piano. I showed the score for 'Play-Time' to a friend, Boryana Petkova a very talented pianist from Bulgaria, to whom I eventually dedicated 'the Dancing Bear'. After showing her 'Play-Time' she commented that part of it sounded like a Bulgarian folk dance. The potential of this intrigued me quite a lot so I sketched out a few bars intent on writing another piano piece based around this idea (the melodic line first heard in the Tuba part in the fifth bar after letter A). However, upon discussing these sketches with Boryana she mentioned they no longer sounded particularly Bulgarian. As this was the main aim of the sketches that eventually became 'The Dancing Bear' it is fair to say I was slightly miffed. Undeterred I decided to shift focus and write for the instrument I knew best, the Tuba. The 'Bear' part of the title refers to the tendency of composers to use Tubas to represent angry bears, most famously in Stravinsky's ballet 'Petrushka'. Musically it still contains quite a few elements of eastern European dance including the use of drones, some typical scales with flattened seconds and sevenths as well as the rhythmic oscillation between bars of 2,2,2,2 and 3,3,2 quaver (8th note) division. However, the goal for me was to writes a slightly humorous piece, with a technically demanding Tuba part, that could show off the musicians abilities and still retain the feel of a rhythmical dance.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251502 Composed by Ross Fiddes. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Historic. Score. 23 pages. Ross Fiddes #845791. Published by Ross Fiddes (A0.1251502). This extended through-sung song cycle was composed at the request of the remarkable Turkish-Australian soprano, Ayse Goknur Shanal, to include in a 2015 recital program by her to commemorate the 100th anniversary of origin of ANZAC, being the date Australian & New Zealand armed forces entered into combat in WW1.  The date is focused annually to commemorate those Australians who have served & those who have died in war.For the words I located some striking, even emotional, poems by Leon Gellert who, as a poet & a Lance Sergeant with the 10th Battalion, landed at Gallipoli, Turkey, on 25 April 1915. Wounded by shrapnel, and suffering from septicaemia and dysentery, he was evacuated to Malta in July and thence to London. He was repatriated and discharged medically unfit on 30 June 1916.Gellert created his overseas verse. Songs of a Campaign (1917) which was hailed by the Bulletin as one of the best verse collections to have come out of the war in the English language; it won the Bundey prize for English verse, and, before the year was out, Angus & Robertson Ltd published a third and enlarged edition, illustrated by Norman Lindsay.Ms Shanal premiered These Men in the recital collection curated by her in April 2015.  In 2016 she recorded the complete program to CD. In 2018 & 2019 she gave performances of the program in the Melbourne Recital Centre, Sydney Opera House & other venues throughout eastern Australia & Germany. In live performance her associate artists have been Patrick Keith & Ashley Hribar.CD:           https://www.australiancomposers.com.au/products/canakkale-gallipoli-songs       Also:  Spotify, AppleMusic, Presto.

Small Ensemble Flute,Piano,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008082 Composed by Connie Pwll Walck Tyler. Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 14 pages. Connie Tyler #4607671. Published by Connie Tyler (A0.1008082). This piece, for soprano and alto duet with piano and flute, speaks of the persistence of the dove, the peace maker, faced with war, famine, poverty, etc. It was written when the United States went to war with Afghanistan and Representative Barbara Lee stood up and was the lone voice against war. Although the piece is secular, the use of the symbol of the dove would work well in religious services. The piece involves a two against three rhythm which suggests the difficulties the dove faces flying for peace against the overwhelming odds of war. The .mp3 file is computer generated with choral oohs for the voices. The words are:Now the dove flies, sails the war-torn skies, feels the wind rip through her wings.Tossed and turned now, cries of war howl,tear-ing through her, and she still sings.  Sings to march-ers on crowd-ed streetssing-ing songs of love and songs of peace.Tips her wings to those who dare stand tall, speak re-sound-ing no's in hal-lowed halls.  They say that that sin means to miss the mark.I have so man-y times aimed in the dark.We fail in lit-tle ways, be-tray our friends. It was-n't planned that way.Dis-trac-tion leads to e-vil ends.  The sha-dow fear clouds our at-ten-tion.Mind falls a-stray in-to dis-sen-sion.
