Piano Quintet,String Ensemble Cello,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1499301 Composed by James Albert Yeager. 21st Century,Chamber,Contemporary. 99 pages. James A. Yeager #1075356. Published by James A. Yeager (A0.1499301). Foreword:Each movement revisits classic paradigms—sonata form (I), ternary song form (II), and sonata rondo (III). The three movements of this piano quintet share a common element contained in the seed of a motivic idea—the interplay between the minor and the major 3rd : a tonal ambiguity or conflict of the minor 2nd. Stylistically, this Sonata pays modest homage to neo-classicism of 20th Century composers such as Poulenc (I), Prokofiev, Shostakovich (III), and perhaps even a touch of Gershwin (II). I hope this piano quintet will offer players and their audience chamber music that is a bit unusual yet worthwhile. The Sonata embraces the lightheartedness, the melancholy , and the whimsy of nostalgia. There is no separate piano part.Performance Notes:I Moderately fast,  expresses dialogues of themes that move between piano and strings. The playfulness of the exposition (repeat is not optional) can give way to a more passionate building of the development to the climax at letter H. In the recapitulation the longer bridge remains steadily in tempo (no accelerando) relaxing just before letter N and theme two. The coda after letter O is a somber premonition of movement two.II Slowly, the bowings are ad libitum. The viola is chantlike and smooth. Violins glissando like the portamento of the Chinese stringed instruments, the Guqin or the Ehru type glissando leading to a very pure quiet long tones without any vibrato and the resulting fourth should be a pure tuning. The piano can use una corda ad libitum in softer passages, and the pedal (damper) ad libitum. In the B section (Letter D) pianist should treat the 64th notes like an ornament (upper mordent). Strings play the eighths after Letter G accents with strong bow changes. At the end, the piano lingers until the sound vanishes after the strings die away.III Introduction: Quick and spirited, the transition (Introduction) is measured and strict without alteration leading to letter A. The rondo theme, ‘A’ section, can slightly intensify in each successive repetition, but not slavishly. The small waltz or ‘B’ section, Letter C, the quartet might play to resemble a reed organ or harmonium—sweet, sonorous, and harmonious. The ‘C’ section, Letter G, big swell on short bridge passage, then pizz. strings become very rustic and like a peasant dance. Pianist can use una corda ad libitum in soft passages. Violins again after Letter I play similarly to non-vibrato of 2nd movement. The ‘B’ section at Letter L is now the grand waltz slightly faster and more indulgent with tiny rubatos tastefully allowed.James Albert Yeager (b.1946)James began his career as organist and choral conductor then harpsichordist and finally, professor of sacred music. As an organ major at The Ohio State University, he studied with Dr. Wilbur Held (B.Mus. 1969). Professor Joseph Goodman mentored him in composition at Union Theological Seminary in New York city (M. Sac. Mus, 1971). At the University of Colorado-Boulder, he returned to the organ, nevertheless, keeping composition as a mainstay (D.M.A. 1985).  He was appointed Director of Sacred Music at the Pontifical College Josephinum (Columbus, Ohio) and rose to the rank of Professor (1984-2009). He retired as professor emeritus in 2009 and moved to New Mexico. While residing in Mountainair, New Mexico, he was organist/choral director for 12 years at a major Albuquerque church retiring again in 2021. His most recent compositions include Passacaglia & Fugue for Organ and Chamber Orchestra (2022), a Fugue for Piano and Orchestra (2022), a Sonatina for Flute and Piano (2023), and the Sonata for Piano Quintet (2024) as well as several smaller works for voice and piano.

Brass Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927019 By Celtic Thunder. By Bill Staines. Arranged by Dr. Jim Fox, ASCAP. Folk. Score and parts. 23 pages. All Brass Radio Publishing #3541427. Published by All Brass Radio Publishing (A0.927019). Need a fun 2-minute piece that is fairly easy to play for a low brass ensemble? This may fill your needs! It is arranged for four low brass parts and a tuba (Bb Bass). All the brass parts come in both treble and bass clef. Could be played by any combination of trombones, baritones, euphoniums, Bb Basses, BBb Tubas. Say you have two euphoniums the read treble clef, a trombone player who reads bass clef and a euphonium who reads bass clef. This arrangement is easily adaptable. If your group is used to reading brass band parts and needs to read treble clef in all five parts. Fine. If your group reads world parts, you are covered. If you used a bass trombone to play the tuba part it would even serve as a trombone choir piece. All God's Creature Got a Place in the Choir is a fun and simple little diddy that the smash group Celtic Thunder turned into a fun and simple hit. A piece that everyone can tap their toe to. With five parts used, in places, it has a very deep harmonic sound and simply duets in others. All in all, it is a fun piece to perform and audiences love it. It is arranged to be very flexible for many different combinations of low brass.More information can be found at:  https://soundcloud.com/user-100948232/a-place-in-the-choir

Saxophone quartet - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6324 For saxophone quartet. Composed by Anthony Gilbert. This edition: score and parts. Dieses lebhafte Charakterstück bringt Abwechslung in jedes Programm. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 10' 20. Schott Music - Digital #Q6324. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6324). Based upon Jorge Luis Borges' imaginary ancient Chinese encyclopaedia in which the animal kingdom is broken down into fourteen categories such as 'Frenzied creatures' and 'Those belonging to the Emperor', this quartet reflects on the bizarre imagery suggested by these headings. 'The first movement 'Stray dogs' tends, after the fashion of these creatures, suddenly to appear in unexpected places' (Gilbert). This lively piece of character music would add much variety to any programme.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031907 Composed by Francisco Martín-Quintero. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 27 pages. Francisco Martín-Quintero #3685863. Published by Francisco Martín-Quintero (A0.1031907). ON THE KEYS (INMANENCIA III) Chords that tremble because their notes trill, tremble, move fast to not perish, complex arpeggios rising and falling as sound blasts, brief but wide melodies, just three or four notes, dissonant, quasi solemn, apparent scales ascending, descend, without getting anywhere, textures at last with a static vocation, looking for its instant, its present... Every texture wants to stay. The horizontal occurs only because time passes, not because the sound aspires to happen, it seeks its moment by recreating itself, renouncing what will come for what it is, the transcendent for the immanent ... On the Keys occurs from the instrument's keyboard. That title, a frequent indication in the current scores to return to the interpretation on the keyboard, is my way of protesting the over-exploitation of the interpretation of the harp and other surfaces of the piano, my way of being bold in this 21st century. The work is dedicated to the italian maestro Cosimo Colazzo.

Digital Download SKU: S9.Q25917 Vocal Score based on the Richard Wagner Complete Edition edited by Wolfgang M. Wagner. Composed by Richard Wagner. This edition: vocal/piano score. Erstveröffentlichung - Oper - Theater. Wagner Urtext Piano/Vocal Scores. Downloadable, Piano reduction. Schott Music - Digital #Q25917. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q25917). German • French. An important addition to Schott's newly published orchestral material is the first publication of piano scores for the ten major operas by Richard Wagner in all major versions. For the first time, we offer the stages and interested opera lovers piano scores as urtext editions that were designed according to uniform editorial criteria.•The score is aligned with the performance material of the Complete Edition. •All piano scores have study numbers and continuous measure numbers for rehearsal and study practice. •The editors are renowned musicologists from the circles of those working on the Richard Wagner Complete Edition who contribute detailed information on the respective editions to the critical prefaces.•The prefaces are printed in three languages (German, English, French). •The uniform appealing cover design with reproductions of paintings from the Wagner era emphasizes the serial character of the edition.TANNHÄUSERFor the Richard Wagner Complete Edition, the editors Egon Voss, Peter Jost and Reinhard Strohm as well as Cristina Urchueguía have researched and presented Tannhäuser's genesis and history of more than thirty years, which also took about thirty years of scientific work, on 2,959 pages in eight volumes. With the present piano score, the findings gathered therein shall now also to be made accessible for the musical practice. (Wolfgang M. Wagner, quoted from the foreword to the new Tannhäuser piano score)The piano score unites for the first time all four stages of the work (the score as of 1845, the score as of 1860, the Paris version as of 1861/62 with the complete French text of this version, and the Vienna version as of 1875) in a single excerpt for rehearsal and study practice, thus allowing the comparison of the versions, without sacrificing practicability. All variants are printed one after the other in the chronological sequence of the action on the stage, so that each of them can be explored in their context of action by simply turning over the pages. Only two variants rejected before the Paris premiere were printed separately in the appendix. A fascinating insight into Richard Wagner's thinking in terms of stage practice and into his very precise ideas of tonal balance, scenic details and role-conception are made possible by the quotations printed in key passages from his work On the Performance of Tannhäuser, published in 1852.For example, soon after the world premiere, Wagner suggested the deletion of bars in the orchestral part in the 4th scene of Act I, reasoning that […] due to the tremendous woodenness and self-consciousness of our usual supernumeraries, the impression of overwhelming liveliness, which was intended by me and which was to imply a heightening of the mood led up to by the liveliest manifestations of life, was not achieved. (piano reduction, p. 221)In the big ensemble scene at the end of Act II, Wagner puts in a comment at a certain passage, referring to the conductor and his great responsibility for tonal balance:The exclamations 'Ach, erbarm' dich mein!' require such a piercing emphasis that he [the performer of Tannhauser] as a mere, well-trained singer is not enough; it is but the highest dramatic art that has to provide him the energy of pain and desperation for an expression that must seem to break forth from the most gruesome depths of an awfully woeful heart, like a cry for salvation. The conductor has to ensure that the implied success is made possible for the principal singer by the most discrete accompaniment of the other singers as well as of the orchestra. Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1127840 Composed by E Elgar. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical. 26 pages. Philip Le Bas #728449. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1127840). An arrangement by Philip Le Bas of a very early wind quintet written by Edward Elgar while still based in Worcester in 1878-9, entitled Harmony Music No.1, after the German Harmoniemusik, meaning music for wind instruments. His quintet group (in which he played the bassoon) consisted of two flutes, an oboe, a clarinet and a bassoon, which by modern standards is rather unusual (omitting the usual French horn). He agreed to write a quintet for the group once a week, and he claimed to have written most of them during the 25-minute sermons at St. George's R.C. Church, where he had taken over the organ-playing from his father (and where the arranger ministered for three years in the 1990s!) It is a wonderful, cheerful, tuneful short piece (4-5 minutes long), but the original version is rarely performed, perhaps because of its difficulty on several fronts. First it is very fast, challenging performers' ability to tongue rapidly. Secondly, it repeatedly leaves no time to breathe, especially for the flautists (meaning that it has to be performed even faster, in order to get through it.) Thirdly, Elgar's oboist must have been extremely versatile, as its part is very low indeed in places (several low B's played pp at speed.) Finally, published copies seem to have rather a lot of editorial errors... This arrangement was therefore created in the hope that the piece might become more accessible and be more frequently performed. Although the bassoon part remains Elgar's, the other four players are used imaginatively to overcome many of the difficulties of the original. For example, the original low oboe parts are here played by one of the clarinets instead, and the severe breathing problems are solved by sharing repeated quavers between the four higher instruments.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet - Digital Download SKU: A0.1353179 Composed by Adolf Jackel. Arranged by Paul Kajzar. Romantic Period. 9 pages. Paul Kajzar, Gyllcott Music #937978. Published by Paul Kajzar, Gyllcott Music (A0.1353179). An arrangement for four basset horns of Maienzauber (translates as “May Magicâ€), originally composed for four french horns. Biographical details regarding Adolf Jackel are very limited, but it seems likely that he was active as a composer during the second half of the 19th century and into the early part of the 20th. This is a short movement which has an almost hymn-like quality in places. The set comprises full score and parts including alternative parts for basset horns 3 and 4, these being Bb clarinet and Eb alto clarinet respectively. Difficulty level : Easy/Intermediate.
