Flute Duet Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576261 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary,Folk,World. Score. 8 pages. David Warin Solomons #12145. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576261). Journeymen (young craftsmen) in Germany used to be required by law to go from town to town to practise their skills rather than stay in one town, which gave rise to many songs, of which Es es es und es is the best known - (the words of that song mean it is a hard conclusion but I have to leave this town). These journeys were referred to as Walz so these workers went auf der Walz. The idea of travelling auf der Walz was also taken up in Australia (where they called it on the Waltz or on the Wallaby) and it gave rise to the famous song Waltzing Matilda, although in the Ozzie song the traveller was a swagman rather than a craftsman. So I have called this arrangement On the Wallaby. In neither case was the 3/4 time of the Waltz used although there is probably a connection: I initially tried to create this merged arrangement in 3/4 but it didn't seem to work satisfactorily - indeed my left hand ended firmly stuck down my collar and my right leg twisted round my back - well... sort of! So here is a 4/4 waltz based on the two traditional and related songs.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.993114 Arranged by Peyton T. Starkweather. African,Contemporary,Spiritual. Score and parts. 33 pages. Starkweather Arts Publications #3686107. Published by Starkweather Arts Publications (A0.993114). This piece is intended for Field Opera: an orchestral Marching Band featuring theatre, ballet, and strings. This piece is elegant and suited for Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and of course, Marching Band. The piece is one minute long and is meant to be suited next to other Egyptian features, such as the other movement of The Sands of Time. In the second movement of The Sands of Time, we further into Egyptian mythology with a cross arrangement of Go Down Moses, an African American Spiritual about the Harriet Tubman, whose codename was Moses among the slaves at the time and Aquarium, by Camille Saint-Saens from Carnival of The Animals. At the surface level, the concepts of these pieces have nothing in common, but musically, their melodies are quite similar. The piece is beautiful and catchy, despite its literal and lyrical meanings, although we can use this as a tool to delve from our time into an Egyptian fantasy.Audio Link:https://soundcloud.com/charmonicmajor/go-down-moses

Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028133 Composed by Arwyn Bailey. Christian,Gospel,Jewish,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 113 pages. Galactic Publishers Limited #3382201. Published by Galactic Publishers Limited (A0.1028133). Hope PrevailsThe composition consists of six movements and is for a Brass Quintet with guest instrumentalists of Oboe, Violin, Viola and Soprano voice. The piece explores the moods that many encounter as they go through life from loneliness through to elation. the composers brother experienced these extreme emotions and it resulted in him taking his own life. This piece is dedicated to his memory. The MP3 contains a very short extract from each movement that is a direct download from computer composition software and is therefore not of great quality. The composer is looking for a group to record this piece. Please get in touch if you wish to be part fo a collaborative project perhaps as a school, college, university or other group. The Struggle of the night - 4:09 in length:The first movement commences with sonorous chord sequences and quickly moves to a lively section. The piece incorporates the tune of the Welsh National Anthem along with the hymn tune Cwm Rhondda. The movement moves between the despair and loneliness of the night that one can feel, even when sleeping next to a close partner, and the racing desperation of the mind, whereby patriotic affiliations will calm the soul at these times.  the movement finishes with the tune of Land of my father's resonating but even this is of no comfort, and the troubled mind lies awake and the movement finishes with a flurry of discord. The Solitude - 5.34 in length:The movement begins with a haunting melody led by the Oboe. the Horn soon joins in as do other instruments of the quintet. A simple Gregorian type rhythm and chant passes through the quintet with the Oboe leading the movement.Crescendos and attacked notes give the piece a rise and fall showing the mood of the soul that alternates between a calm and a peak of mood as sleep is hard to come by and a restless state is invoked. It appears that the oboe will be leading the soul into peace yet, at the last moment, the quintet joins in with chords of attack and crescendo followed by a sharp diminuendo to end the piece. The soul has sought solace, yet, all they find is loneliness.Brad's Broadcast - 3:01 in length:The restless soul awakes after a restless night.  The world is full of voices, advice, motivation and answers. In this lively movement, the soul searches for solace and finds sense from some sources, yet, the cacophony of contrary advice and the nature of some disciples of business and life coaches becomes confusing. there are some real gems of advice available, but, the noise of others drowns out the sense and sanity. The soul manages to find some humour in the forums and media, they smile, but the relief is short lived. The movement ends with all voices descending away in a glissando and silence is restored.By His Own Hand - 4:26 in length:This movement reflects the desperation of the soul. they have sought solace, humour has passed them by, they do not feel that they can continue to live. The piece starts with a cadenza played by a viola.  A violin soon duets in this Jewish styled lament.Throughout the movement the brass are spartan, reflecting the confusion of the soul. The ability to cling onto the world and to continue living is a losing battle. The waves of the lament increase in their presence, but not velocity, for the depressed souul is reaching the point of no return and of no choice. They will soon depart from the world by their own hand. The end ofthe movement is a descent and a unifying discordant sound as the soul leaves.Dreaming of Heaven - 2:31 in length:The soul is now rising and an ancient Celtic tune accompanies the soul in the form of a Soprano voice singing words of hope and light. The soul's path is lit and the ancient bell of.

This special part is not visible in the score. Keyboard instrument with sustaining capability - piano sound   Instructions: Wind players can breathe ad lib. during any very long notes. From letter D onwards non-wind players who are not soloists blow across the top of small bottles. The pitches produced are not specified, but they should not be shrill. A soft breathy tone is preferred. About half of the voices play pairs of metal spoons (share printed part between two singers and anyone not holding the music holds metal spoons). Hold the spoons one in each hand, and strike the larger ends together. Spoons are struck together where shown with a large patterned note head. Strike rapidly where a tremolo sign is given. Four singers play pitch tuning pipes: 1 Soprano and 1 Alto play viola/cello pitch tuning pipes, 1 Tenor and 1 Bass play violin pitch tuning pipes Pitch pipe playing is indicated with square note heads - player should breathe ad lib. during very long notes. Where there are very long sung notes, the singers may stagger breathing ad lib. Spoken sounds are indicated with x note heads and with the text in italics. There are many pauses. These can be of varying duration, but on the whole they should not hold up the momentum of the piece, but be of sufficient duration to establish the solo and pitch pipe notes.   Text: Carve stone Strike out Stay at home Or go far alone. Blocks of stone are laid Emblazoned with the signs of great deeds That signify our memory, Mem’ries of who we are. Careful carvings erode through time, Chiseled grooves smooth away. Families, they scatter and fade As generations age Descendants pass on memory time. Sense of our allegiance shifts when major faults are found, Feelings of belonging fall on shaky ground, But the sense of a place will remain.

Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8769-4E). English.Juliana Hall wrote her song cycle Of That So Sweet Imprisonment for mezzo soprano Stephanie Blythe, for whom Hall had expressed a desire to write a piece. Blythe accepted Hall's proposal, and her request was that Hall write a song cycle for contralto voice. In recounting her motivation for writing this piece, Hall - in a discussion with Blythe at the Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar (where Hall was the Guest Composer in 2018) - said You know what I think is really so wonderful is how you [Blythe] communicate, from here to there, right to the audience...it just speaks, the words, the text, come right...right to the heart of each person...I was thinking, what a wonderful person, what a wonderful voice...to be able to communicate...I've just got the most perfect singer to take these songs, this wonderful subject of love, and present it to the worldThe seven poems Hall set in Of That So Sweet Imprisonment were chosen from James Joyce's early book of poems, Chamber Music (Elkin Mathews, London) published in 1907.  The poems are arranged in a narrative arc that takes the listener from the presence of love in nature (Strings in the Earth and Air), to the human feeling of emptiness when love is not present (Winds of May), to a description exulting in the joys of human love (Of That So Sweet Imprisonment), to expression of human love such as kissing (In the Dark Pine-Wood), to love's tranformation of a girl into a woman through love making (Bid Adieu), to the feelings of contentment in the early morning after making love (At That Hour When All Things Have Repose), and finally a call for the lovers to go to a special place where they may remain together in love (O Cool is the Valley).Of That So Sweet Imprisonment will be premiered on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City, by Ms. Blythe and pianist Alan Smith, on the third concert of the Sparks & Wiry Cries' NYC songSLAM Festival, entitled Expressions of Love: Stephanie Blythe and Friends.Contents:I.
