In a 2012 interview, Hopkins stated, I've been composing music all my life and if I'd been clever enough at school, I would like to have gone to music college. As it was, I had to settle for being an actor. His compositions cover a wide range of genres. And The Waltz Goes On dates from 1964 but was not performed until 2011 when André Rieu and his orchestra premiered the piece in Vienna.
