Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797377 Composed by William Mahan. 20th Century,Concert. Score. 31 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4831411. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797377). Here is another collection of beautiful pieces, similar to Mr. Mahan's first collection of French pieces entitled French Impressions,  with the impressionistic harmonies. These pieces can be played on lever or pedal harp, but not on small harps of 26 strings or less. The melodies are lovely. Intermediate level, left hand is supportive of right hand melodies and usually contains ascending arpeggios. Carousel and Moonlight on the Seine are quite different than the others in the collection, one having the driving 3/4 rhythm and the other having a decidedly modal feel. The Windows of Paris Suite is similar to the rendition in the first collection (French Impressions), but has a new introduction and ending, total playing time around 5 minutes.Titles: Plasir D'amour by Jean Martini, Paris Nocturne, Here's to You, Moonlight on the Seine, Carousel Waltz, We'll Always Have Paris, Windows of Paris Suite, Un Chanson Vieux, A Time to Say Goodbye

Cl.bsn-2hns-str(1.1.1.1.1) nonet - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q20914 For nonet. Composed by Gerald Barry. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 18 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q20914. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q20914). The title No people. comes from the surrealist Raymond Roussel. In 1932 he published a long poem called New Impressions of Africa. For this he commissioned 59 drawings to illustrate the text. The commission was given to the artist through a detective agency so he never knew who the commissioner was or saw the text he was supposed to illustrate. All he got was instructions for each drawing and he had to make the drawings accordingly. A typical instruction might be Nocturnal landscape. Very starry sky with a thin crescent of moon. (No people.) or A rambler, arm raised and fingers outspread, dropping a pebble (still visible) down a well and seemingly straining to hear the sound of its splash. (No other people.) When Roussel put the drawings and text together, the ordinary everyday drawings took on a strangeness they might otherwise not have had if the artist had drawn with the text in front of him. It's the juxtaposition of both unknowns - text/drawings - that gives the final work its strange quality. © Gerald Barry (2013).

Saxophone in Eb and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q15272 From the Idyll At Twilight. Composed by Zdenek Fibich. Arranged by Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Downloadable. Op. 39. Schott Music - Digital #Q15272. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15272). The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and Antonín Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan Kubelík played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1229684 Composed by André Luiz Machado. Classical. Score. 11 pages. André Luiz Machado #825453. Published by André Luiz Machado (A0.1229684). A musical poem reflecting memories and impressions while sitting by the ocean, getting lost in sea horizons, remembering the first light of day when the sun is almost gone. Portraits, an evocation of life.  This music was originally composed for O Jardim da Casa daMinhaAv6 ('The Garden of my Grandmother's House'), a poetic short documentary directed by Sejana Pina. An intimate, but intense, concert piece for solo piano emerged from this score, premiered by Gunther Bauer in 2006 and first released as part of the album Dialogues Between the Sound and the Moving Picture (2015).

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025143 Composed by Kirk O'Riordan. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 12 pages. Kirk O'Riordan #4357415. Published by Kirk O'Riordan (A0.1025143). Water Lilies for Solo Piano is the second in a series of Water Lilies pieces, which also includes versions for chamber winds and orchestra. Each version is based on the same melodic idea; in each piece this idea is developed using different compositional procedures. The result is a series of noticeably related but distinct pieces. The idea for these pieces comes from my impressions of an exhibit of Monet's Water Lilies at the MusĂ©e de L’Orangerie in Paris. The room that these magnificent works are displayed in is in the shape of an oval; and when sitting in the middle of the room one has the distinct impression that one is in the middle of Monet's pond.My Water Lilies are not necessarily an attempt to reproduce each painting in sound; rather, they represent the attempt to reproduce the feeling of being surrounded by these images, which from far away seem perfectly clear and photographic but up close are rather blurry and repetitive. Indeed, Monet's genius lies in his ability to make his audience look upon his art from afar, taking in the whole view at once rather than focusing on the details of its construction. This series of pieces attempts to recreate this effect in sound.Water Lilies was composed for pianist Holly Roadfeldt. Her recording of the work appears on the CD Strange Flowers (Ravello Records).
