Two-part mixed chorus - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGA183 Composed by George Frideric Handel and Hal H Hopson. Arranged by George Frideric Handel and Hal H Hopson. General. Sacred Anthem. Octavo. 8 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGA183. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA183). UPC: 749193004678.Douglas E. Wagner is new to the Choristers Guild catalog. He is Director of Music at the Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has music published with AMSI, Flammer, Somerset Press, Bourne, Sacred Music Press and Heritage Music Press?and now Choristers Guild! 'Three Wise Kings' may be performed either in unison or two-part, and is to be accompanied by organ and finger cymbals. The work is appropriate either as a Christmas anthem or an anthem for the Epiphany season. The Latin text, 'Hodie, Christus Natus est' means 'Christ is born today!' and is pronounced 'Ho-dee-eh, KREE-stoos NAH-toos ehst'. The work very uniquely uses the Latin section as a refrain, and then on the last stanza, combines the refrain and verse in a two-part section, concluded by a coda and 'Amen'. The work should be quite simple to perform, and should provide us with an effective anthem for next season.

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1050020 Composed by Robert Nathaniel Dett. Arranged by Richard Decker. 20th Century,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Spiritual,World. 23 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #654420. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.1050020). Early 20th century Canadian-American composer, conductor and pianist Robert Nathaniel Dett's Listen to the Lambs choral anthem combines his neo-romantic style and advocacy for spirituals in this engaging arrangement for brass quintet. Director of the Hampton Institute, Dett developed the college's choir with his compositions and conducting into one of the leading choirs in the nation.  Always looking to improve his compositional capabilities, Dett studied with notable teachers such as composer Arthur Foote at Harvard, was the first African-American to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Oberlin Conservatory in composition and piano in 1908 and received an Honorary Masters Degree in 1932 from the Eastman School of Music. This brass quintet arrangement is scored for two B-flat trumpets (alternate C trumpet parts included), horn in F (alternate flugelhorn substitute part), trombone and tuba. The recording is of the entire edition. “The Music of Black Composers Series is a welcome and timely addition to the brass repertoire. Interesting music, expertly arranged, fun to perform, and well received by audiences. These pieces are now permanently in my quintet book and I will be using them with my student groups as well. Highly recommended!†  Wesley Nance, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman School of Music“I was so pleased to see the great works arranged for brass ensemble by Charles Decker Music Press especially the Music of Black Composers’ Series. It was especially rewarding to perform several of these with Summit Brass and with the students attending the Rafael Mendez Brass institute. Please keep these wonderful settings coming. You have provided the brass world with some real gems.† Joseph Parisi, Director Summit Brass, Fountain City Brass Band, University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory Wind EnsembleThe Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Denver have purchased the Music of Black Composer Series with Charles Decker Music Press and the summer Rafael Mendez Brass Institute and Eastman School of Music uses the series arrangements in their chamber and brass ensembles music programs. See 50+ homogeneous brass editions for trumpet, horn and trombone ensembles and 75+ mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1376368 Composed by John Burkett. Arranged by John Burkett. Classical,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. John Burkett #960911. Published by John Burkett (A0.1376368). My Prelude on the hymn tune Terra Beata (This Is My Father's World) is intended for church pianists looking for interesting arrangements of hymns familiar to their congregations.  It is one of two settings for piano of Terra Beata that I have written.  This setting begins with an introduction followed by a statement of the hymn tune, the phrases of which are succeeded by interludes of varying lengths.  After that, the second half of the tune is restated in augmentation, moving at half the original speed.  A brief postlude brings the piece to a joyous conclusion.  I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841364 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Samuel Arnold, and William H. Cummings. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 18 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #6098157. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.841364). This year's Christmas publication choice fell on a song very dear to me: Hark! The herald angels sing. The text, inspired by Luke’s Gospel (2:14), appears for the first time in a collection of Christmas carols called Hymns and Sacred Poems in 1739, jointly written by Charles Wesley (1707-1788 ) and George Whitefield (1714-1770), two of the founding members of the Methodist movement. The version we know today is the one adapted by William H. Cummings (1831-1915) from the section Vaterland, in deinen Gauen of the Festgesang zum Gutenbergfest, WoO 9, by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847). The story, however, is more complex and articulated than that. The original version of the text, written by Wesley, bearing the title Hymn for Christmas-Day, had received only slow and solemn music for its verses, music now almost completely discarded. Also, his original opening lines were Hark! How all the welkin rings / Glory to the King of Kings .The version that has been passed to us is the result of alterations made by different hands, especially those of Whitefield, who changed the initial couplet into the one we know today. In 1840-one hundred years after the publication of Hymns and sacred Poems-Mendelssohn composed a cantata commemorating Johann Gutenberg’s invention of movable-type printing. The English musician William H. Cummings finally adapted Mendelssohn’s music around 1855 in order to fit the music to the verses and give it its present look.In this edition we propose the version that every listener expects to hear when reading the title on the programme and, immediately after, one of the few original versions that have reached us in their entirety, that is the one set to music by Samuel Arnold (1740-1802) and available today in The British Minstrel, and Musical and Literary Miscellany, vol. 3, published in 1843.The proposed instrumentations are those of the classical string quartet and the cello quartet. Both variants are very simple to perform and are certainly suitable for small string ensembles formed in musical schools. In the cello quartet version, the only relatively complex part is that of the first cello, which should be left to the teacher or to a student able to play up to the 7th position without excessive troubles.I hope this music can bring you the serenity that made me prepare it.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734646 Composed by Joseph Hasper. A Cappella,Christmas,Contemporary. Octavo. 10 pages. Joseph Hasper #442961. Published by Joseph Hasper (A0.734646). The text for The Kings They Came is from the poem Christmas Carol by Sara Teasdale. Teasdale (1884–1933) published this poem in 1911 and won the Columbia Poetry Prize (which was later known as the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry) in 1918. A 1926 New York Times Book Review described her poetry as musical and lyric, stating MissTeasdale is first, last, and always a singer. It is in this spirit of joyous and unstudied song (as a New York Times Book Review described Teasdale’s poetry in 1915) that The Kings They Came should be sung. The music is unpretentious, tuneful, and ever joyful.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024222 Composed by Will Shaw. 20th Century,Christian,Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Score. 3 pages. Phoenix Melodies #2918767. Published by Phoenix Melodies (A0.1024222). The Lord's Will is the story of my life told through music. This is the piano solo music of the primary theme for the story. John Williams once said that you can be looking at something horrific but the music content can be giving you a sense of compassion. In our pre earth life, we all chose certain challenges. The lord knew that certain select children of his would take a course not as common to others. Those that take these courses don't always see life in the same way. Sometimes that to open another's eyes to see more than what is in front of them may be, The Lord's Will.
