String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.747136 Composed by François Vincent Ayssav. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Multicultural,Patriotic,World. 10 pages. Keith Terrett #6717597. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.747136). An arrangement of the Vanuatu (Ni-Vanuatu)National Anthem Yumi, Yumi, Yumi- We, We, We for String Orchestra Vanuatu gained its independence from both the United Kingdom and France in 1980. (I assume that during the colonial period, both anthems were used, however I do not know how they were performed). Upon independence, the anthem Yumi, Yumi, Yumi, written in the native Bislama language (a type of Pigdin English/French hybrid), was chosen as the national anthem. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774724 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Folk,World. Octavo. 14 pages. Sandra Milliken #3873279. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774724). The Old Palmer Song is a favourite Australian folk song that is meant to be sung in a rollicking style that reflects the excitement and anticipation of hardy Australian colonials setting out in search of gold. Following hard on the heels of the great California gold rushes (1848 – 1855) came the discovery of payable quantities of gold in Australia. The first gold rush in Australia began in New South Wales in May 1851 after prospector Edward Hargraves discovered gold near Orange, at a site he called Ophir. Other discoveries quickly followed, including those at Ballarat and Bendigo in the colony of Victoria. Then came Rosewood and Gympie (1867) in Queensland; the Gawler region in South Australia in 1868; and Halls Creek (1885), Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie (1893) in Western Australia. One of Australia’s richest alluvial goldfields was that of the Palmer River in far north Queensland. The rush to the Palmer began in 1873 and lasted for about three years. The goldfields were nearly 100 miles inland from the small coastal settlement of Cooktown and the early prospectors had a hard time of it just getting to the field. Leaving Cooktown they crossed the coastal mangroves, then on through dense tropical rainforest, into the more open eucalypt forest beyond and then across the dry, inhospitable and rugged country of the hinterland dissected by wide and deep rivers. And always there was the risk of meeting with fierce resistance from the Aborigines whose tribal land they were travelling through. At the height of the rush there were around 35,000 prospectors on the Palmer (including a great many Chinese). By the time the rush was over, the Palmer had yielded over 100 tons of gold! The Old Palmer Song is set to the tune of Ten Thousand Miles Away, a shore ballad/sea shanty that probably originated in Ireland in the early 19th Century.

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1316712 Composed by Bach-Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christmas,Contest,Festival,Religious,Traditional. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #905408. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1316712). This arrangement features the controversial Schwencke measure (ms. 27) initially introduced in 1783 by Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance. Duration with repeat - 4:50. Score: 7 pages. Solo part: 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. They are based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1, and well suited for church meditations, school programs, or recital encores. Ave MariaAve Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach's Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This and Schubert's versions have become essential at weddings, masses, and funerals.Bach OverviewFirst, Johann Sebastian Bach may be the greatest composer in music history. Indeed, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. People are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. His most famous vocal works seem to include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most striking, though, are the St. John Passion and certainly the Christmas Oratorio. HistoryBach came from a long line of musicians and, above all, composers. Consequently, he first of all pursued a career as a church organist. As a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. He worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen for a while. Here, he probably developed his organ style and, likewise, his chamber music style. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here, he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as a court composer. StyleIt seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his unique style. This new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top.Revival              Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach's works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.

Small Ensemble Flute,Recorder,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.932484 Arranged by JM Bolton. Folk. Score and parts. 84 pages. JM Bolton #6658415. Published by JM Bolton (A0.932484). One of the things I did to pay my way through college was to entertain at coffee houses, playing the guitar and singing folk songs. Many of the songs in the collection are old favorites that were in my repertoire. While I sang a lot of songs from the English-speaking countries, I especially loved finding tunes from other countries. Many those songs have found their way into this book. Then, when I finally put the book together with 45 songs, there was a space left over just big enough to add one more song. So, I did! The songs are arranged as solos, duets, and rounds. As well as notes for the psaltery, lyrics and guitar chords are included for many of the tunes.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081578 Composed by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber. Arranged by Joshua Choe. Baroque,Classical,Sacred. Score and parts. 57 pages. JMJ Arrangements #685700. Published by JMJ Arrangements (A0.1081578). In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, 'Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!' But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.' And Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be, since I have no husband?' And the angel said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.' And Mary said, 'Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:26-38 RSV-CE).

Oboe Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596425 Composed by Daniel Hay. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Individual part. 1 pages. Daniel Hay Music #5741923. Published by Daniel Hay Music (A0.596425). When composing this solo piece the composer, Daniel Hay was thinking of massive troll-like creatures ponderously stomping around a bonfire. Perhaps the image is better if you think of drunk sumo fighters dancing around rising flames. Most of the time when the composer uses repeats he labels them with an uppercase letter to identify them, followed by a hyphen and a lowercase letter showing where the repeat leads. Occasionally, as in The Dance of the Stone Trolls, there is also a lowercase letter within parentheses which is used to indicate an optional location to repeat from either at the first pass or possibly as a second pass. The attached YouTube link is performed on Tenor Recorder by the composer during a rehearsal. This version is wonderful with Oboe, Clarinet, Violin, or Soprano, and Tenor Recorders.
