Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1093770 Composed by F. Leslie Smith. Folk,Holiday,Traditional. Score and parts. 57 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #697853. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1093770).      The dictionary defines revel as “a time or instance of carefree fun.†The verb tipple refers to the imbibing of spirits. A tippler is one who drinks beer, wine, whiskey or other such spirituous liquids. So a tipplers revel would be a gathering of folks who, in the words of Dolly Parton’s “Two Doors Down,†are “laughing and drinking and having a party.†     This Tipplers Revel is a compilation of traditional drinking songs. It begins and ends with that bane of school trips, faculty sponsors, bus drivers and chaperones, “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.†And between those two bookends come “Rye Whiskey,†“Little Brown Jug,†“Landlord, Fill the Flowing Bowl,†“Jimmy Crack Corn,†“Beer, Beer, Beer (An Ode to Charlie Mops, The Man Who Invented Beer),†“Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight,†“Wein, Weib und Gesang [Wine, Woman, and Song],†“Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes,†“There Is a Tavern in the Town,†“Good Night, Ladies,†“How Dry I Am,†and brief quotes from about a half dozen other melodies associated with quaffing.      For the most part, this arrangement’s time signature is 4/4 and should be played at about 120 BPM. There are, however, two sections of 3/4 time, one of which is marked “tempo di valse,†and the opening and ending few measures should be played rather slowly.      The music should be well within the normal range of the group. Possible exceptions: trumpets play their A above the staff a couple of times.      There are quite a few 16th notes in the allegro sections. (And one could make the argument that at least two sections ought to have been written in 6/8 time. But they weren’t.)      Completed in 2022, performance time runs about 6 minutes, 43 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge. He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms. For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box. (Also, purchase of this piece entitles you to your choice of another of his arrangements at no charge; send a copy of your purchase receipt directly to him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.)

Treble recorder and piano - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q54256 Eine umfassende Schule für Gruppen-, Einzel- und Selbstunterricht. This edition: teacher's book. Downloadable, Teacher's edition. Op. Vol. 1. Schott Music - Digital #Q54256. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q54256). English. The best way to learn any instrument is to have lessons from a good, experienced teacher. Although, happily, the number of such teachers is constantly growing, the recorder is still frequently taught by enthusiastic but inexperienced teachers and many players start by teaching themselves. This series of books sets out to help learners of all ages in all three situations. Experienced teachers, who may choose to disregard much of the text as personal demonstration is always clearer than the written word, will find exercises and fine tunes a-plenty to support their own mathod at each stage. The less experienced willbenefit from many valuable teaching hints culled from long experience and may rely on the books to lead to a sound playing technique and a mastery of simple notation. Those learning by themseves - and I started in this way - are urged to work carefully and systematically through the books, taking plenty of time to assimilate each point before moving on. For them, without the personal model provided by a live teacher, it is vitally important to listen as often as possible to fine players, in person or on record, so that they have in their mind's ear a clear notion of the kind of sound they would like to produce. But however they start, I can only wish that all who use these books will derive as much pleasure and musical satisfaction and gain as many lasting and valued friendships as I have through this most subtle, delightful and sociable of instruments. (Brian Bonsor) “...this work is likely to become a standart work very quickly and is to be recommended to all schools where recorder studies are undertaken“ (Oliver James, Contact Magazine) These two tutors, with accompanying teacher's books, are for newcomers to the instrument who are beginning on the treble and so assume no previous knowledge either of the instrument or of musical notation.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.773330 Composed by Various. Arranged by Yoel Epstein. Christian,Contemporary,Jewish,World. Score and parts. 37 pages. Yoel Epstein #4285845. Published by Yoel Epstein (A0.773330). These six songs have become icons of remembrance of the six million Jews who died in the Holocaust. They are traditionally played on Holocaust Day, which is on the 28th day of the Hebrew month of Nissan in Israel, or January 27th in the rest of the world. Unter Dyne Vyse Shteren (Under the Starry Sky) was written by Avraham Sutskover, a leading Yiddish poet, while trapped in the ghetto of Vilna, in July 1943. Days before the ghetto was destroyed and all the Jews murdered, Sutskover escaped to the forest with his wife. He reached Russia, and in 1947 moved to Palestine. He died in Israel in 2010 at the age of 96. The poem was set to music by Avraham Brodna, a simple laborer in the Vilna ghetto who died in a concentration camp. Ani Maamin (I Believe): The words to this simple song are of the Jewish prayer I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah. The tune is attributed to Azriel David Festig, a leading Warsaw hazzan (cantor) who died in the Holocaust. The song was performed after the war by Rabbi Shaul Yedidia Eliezer Taub, the Admor (Rabbinical leader) of the Modzitz Hassidic sect, and has become the iconic song of the remembrance in the Hassidic community. Shtiller Shtiller (Hush Hush) was written by Alexander Volkovitzky, then a 12-year-old boy, in the Vilna Ghetto in the spring of 1943. Volkovitzky, who wrote the melody for a song contest organized to encourage the cultural life of the ghetto, eventually came to Israel where he (under the name Alexander Tamir) became a leading pianist and music educator. The words are by Shmerke Kacserginsky, a leading poet of Vilna, who later escaped the Holocaust and migrated to South America. Papirossen (Cigarettes) actually predates the Holocaust by 15 years. It was written by Yiddish actor and composer Herman Yablokoff in 1922 in Grodno, Poland. Yablokoff later immigrated to America, where he produced a musical Papirossen that incorporated the song. It was later made famous by the Barry Sisters, a Yiddish popular music group. Donna Donna was written by Shalom Secunda, with words by Aaron Zeitlin for the Yiddish musical Esterke in 1940. Though the song originally related to the 600-year-old legend of a Polish king who married a Jewess, it quickly became associated with the Holocaust because of its haunting message. The song has entered the popular folk repertoire, with canonical renditions by Joan Baez, Theodore Bikel, and many others.  Hatikva (the Hope) is Israel's national anthem. The words are by Naftali Zvi Imber, and the tune is a traditional eastern European tune.  You are welcome to try some of my other arrangements. In addition to the songs offered on this site (you can see them at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=Yoel+Epstein ), I have arranged three songs from the Holocaust, which I arranged and distribute for free on IMSLP. You can find them at http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Ravpapa. Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534671 Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #5775633. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534671). Noes by Robert Orledge: Debussy planned to compose seven pieces of incidental music for André Antoine’s production of Shakespeare’s King Lear (Le Roi Lear) in 1904 at the time of his elopement to Jersey with Emma Bardac. However, he never completed the project due to Antoine’s frequent postponements and unwillingness to provide the ‘30 musicians’ Debussy required to avoid ‘a feeble little sound like fleas rubbing their legs together!’ On the verso of the Fanfare manuscript from Debussy’s sketches, I discovered the start of an extremely moving little piece in a modal D minor, which could only be for ‘La Mort de Cordélia’ in Act 5, scene 3. I thought this would be best suited to a binary movement in which most of the first half, the striking chromatic introduction and the elegiac theme are all by Debussy. This pencil sketch turned up in 2000 in thecollection of Mrs Jayne Ericourt (wife of the pianist Daniel Ericourt) in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970736 Composed by Mike Strand. Graduation,Jazz,Wedding. Score and parts. 22 pages. Michael M. Strand #4890111. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970736). By Mike Strand, ASCAPThis is the full score, plus scores for three groups of parts, for a full arrangement of a swing tune for piano, bass, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and two singers. After the cover, there are 21 pages of music: Ten pages for the full score; four pages for the group of blowing instruments (alto saxophone, B flat trumpet, and trombone); four pages for the piano and bass; and three pages for the two singers.   Grouping the parts in this manner is natural and advantageous for this particular swing composition. These part groupings will help players in a group coordinate with each other from their group score. This is an excellent compromise between everyone working from the full score, and each player having a score with just the player’s individual part. The audio sample plays the full score. This product solves a problem that any composer of new jazz music faces: Unlike the popular standards, there aren’t any well-known and often-heard arrangements for a band to emulate. As the composer with only a lead sheet, I would have to convince your band to develop an arrangement from scratch, starting from nothing but the lead sheet!  With so many attractive standard swing tunes to perform, a busy band may hesitate to put extra effort into an unknown tune. Problem solved! With this full arrangement of They Came Here to Dance, a band can better see and hear the tune’s full potential. It will be easier for a band to make any modifications to suit its particular mix of musicians and to better fit its style. With this arrangement, with written score, part group scores and audio sample, it will be as easy as working from the recording and score of a popular standard. All that’s missing from this arrangement is the percussion, because of the individuality of drummers. The band only needs a skilled jazz drummer to join in easily with this arrangement.  Here are the lyrics to They Came Here to Dance: 1.You may come here to eat and to drink.Lots of chins wag, and wine glasses clink. Well, that’s all good, but here’s what I think: They came here to dance! 2. We cats up front have to check our sound mix. Then they walk in, togged to the bricks. They have the moves to show off our licks. They came here to dance! Bridge – Instrumental section, followed by: Our band’s in the groove – here’s one reason why: The doghouse amps are turned up high. They get in there, and tear up the floor! And they don’t care if their feet get sore. 3. Bustin’ our conks, we cats are hot, She is a wren who rocks him a lot! And they don’t care if we light up or not. They came here to dance!4. Bridge again, then:Bustin’ our conks, we cats are hot, She is a wren who rocks him a lot! And they don’t care if we light up or not. They have the learning to, they have a yearning to,They came here to dance! Note Some words in these lyrics are taken from Cab Calloway Slang: Light up – smoke a stick (marijuana cigarette) Doghouse - bass Get in there - go to work, get busy, make it hot, give it all you got Bustin’ our conks – breaking our necks (applying ourselves diligently) Wren – a chick, a queen (beautiful girl) Cat – musician in swing band Togged to the bricks – dressed to kill, from head to toe Licks – hot musical phrases In the groove – perfect, down the alley  .

Trumpet, Horn, Strings, Percussion and Bass/guitar About the Musical A great story about one of the 20th century’s greatest storytellers. Carefully researched, yet full of fun, this entertaining musical tells the story of the early part of CS Lewis' life from the time of his mother's death in 1908 until his arrival as a student at Oxford in 1916. (Throughout his life CS Lewis was always known as Jack) This new work was premiered at the end of 2019 at the annual CS Lewis Festival held in Ireland. (CS Lewis’ birthplace) It proved to be a great success and was very enthusiastically received. Synopsis Jack’s Journey is a whimsical re-imagining of the childhood journeys of CS Lewis - each of the seven songs representing a stop along the way to his eventual career as the writer of the Narnia Chronicles. The story is told through music relating his memories and significant episodes from his schooldays up to his entry into Oxford. Living almost entirely in his imagination as a small boy, the seeds of the world of Narnia are already beginning to grow in his writing and drawings. Little Lea, his childhood home, provides the setting for the early scenes. Following the death of his mother the young Jack has his first experience of school and England. He endures with fortitude the harsh regime of boarding school and begins to recognise the value of friendship, mutual support and the courage that children can show in adversity. He returns to Ireland and to Campbell College – a much more positive experience. Illness brings his attendance at Campbell to an end. Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. List of Songs (the sample pages and mp3 file gives a chance to see and hear the first page of most of the songs) 1 Soft through the window 2 Kingdom of Mourne 3 Little Lea 4 Campbell Days - Boy to the left, Boy to the right 5 The Dandy's song 6 The Scholar's song 7 Strength and honour As will be evident from the above, there is plenty of flexibility regarding the scale of the performance. ‘Jack’s Journey’ may be staged using relatively modest outlay – for example, the premiere did not have a set because the venue for the performance was an actual railway station! The piece certainly allows for imaginative approaches to design and staging. In terms of the additional challenges presented by 2020 the length of the musical at 40 minutes helps in delivering a shorter theatrical experience. Also, the fully digital download of all performing materials allows for distribution via email Indeed the whole show could be effectively recorded and presented online as well as in person.

DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications #11627. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784814). Contemporary pop rock musical by Dennis McCorkle. SUMMARY Saul, a charismatic individual from a prominent family, would become the first king over the nation of Israel. Lacking a relationship with God and insecure of his own worth and ability to govern, he consistently bends to the whims of the people and his troops. Plagued with bouts of depression and manic behavior, Saul consistently disregards direction from his mentor, Samuel the Prophet; eventually leading to his downfall, removal as king, and ultimate suicide. Conversely David, from humble and modest beginnings as a shepherd, rises to become one of the most revered and powerful rulers in Hebrew literature uniting the twelve families of Israel and establishing a central capital in Jerusalem, Israel. Although making many inappropriate choices along the way, his ongoing faith and trust in his God enables him to weather the consequences of his own actions and the trials that were placed before him.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1517572 By Keith Terrett. By Original: Korofo Moussa, 1904 Modern: Fodéba Keïta, 1958. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Instructional,Multicultural,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional,World. 9 pages. Keith Terrett #1091734. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1517572). Korofo Moussa's song:The music of the anthem is derived from a praise song for the late-1800s king of Labé, in Fouta Djallon, Alpha Yaya Diallo (or Alfa Yaya). Alpha Yaya is, along with Wassoulou Empire founder Samory Touré, considered central by Guineans to the foundation of the modern Guinean nation, in part because of his fierce attempts to resist colonisation. In 1904, Alpha Yaya was one of many traditional chiefs and kings summoned to a doctrinal conference with French colonists, who were still in the process of consolidating his territory. The chiefs each brought along a retinue for the journey; in Alpha Yaya's retinue was griot Korofo Moussa, from Kissidougou in the south of the country. Alpha Yaya arrived to the conference on its sixth day, and Korofo Moussa is said to have spontaneously improvised, along with his troupe of dancers and kora players, a praise song for Alpha Yaya after he arrived. The song began with the line Alpha Yaya, Mansa bè Manka (Alpha Yaya, mansas (kings) are not the same). According to Fodéba Isto Keira, former Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the performance took place in the building of the modern Directorate of the Judicial Police in the Kaloum sub-prefecture of Conakry.Korofo Moussa's air quickly became popular; it was sung and played by all the griots for the rest of the conference, and within a few days it was known throughout Conakry. Alpha Yaya's personal griot immediately trained to play the song. Upon the return of the kings and their retinues to their regions, it spread throughout the country.Modern anthem:Upon approaching independence in 1958, the lyrics of Korofo Moussa's song were reworked and written in French by artist, choreographer and politician Fodéba Keïta and Jean Cellier for the national anthem of Guinea. Korofo Moussa's melody was retained for the anthem. According to Keira, Keïta used the solfège method when working with the music. Keira stated that the national anthem had to be inspired by something from Fouta Djallon for the sake of avoiding frustrations and preserving national unity.

The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [2 Samuel 11:12-13 - And David said to Uriah: ‘Tarry here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let thee depart.’ So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow. 13 And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk; and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.] In fear of being exposed, DAVID has her husband brought back from the field with the hope that he will have relations with his wife covering up his own indiscretion. URIAH, a conscientious soldier, returns home, but sleeps outside on his steps out of respect for the men still fighting on the front. Seeing that his ploy has not worked, he has URIAH and some of his men over to the palace for drinks [Pour Me Another One – Troops, Uriah and David]. Getting URIAH drunk, DAVID has him escorted home, but as before he sleeps outside. As a last desperate measure, he sends a letter for JOAB (David’s commander and confidant) back with URIAH to place URIAH on the front line and then have the rest of the troops pull back leaving him exposed. URIAH is killed. Also included with your order is our new 20 page catalog of over 150 titles at no additional charge.
