Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1486279 Composed by Landini. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Early Music,Historic,Renaissance,Standards. 15 pages. Jmsgu3 #1063339. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1486279). Francesco Landini's Ecco la Primavera is a significant work from the early Renaissance that exemplifies several essential aspects of 14th-century Italian music. The piece is a ballata, a popular form of Italian secular music during the Trecento period (14th century), also known as the Italian Ars Nova. This era marked the beginning of a new musical epoch. Ecco la Primavera is composed as an isorhythmic duet. Isorhythm was a crucial compositional technique in medieval and early Renaissance music, demonstrating Landini's mastery of complex musical structures. The work celebrates spring and love, reflecting the humanist ideals emerging during the early Renaissance. This focus on secular themes and natural beauty was a departure from the predominantly religious music of the medieval period. The piece provides insight into the cultural and social life of 14th-century Florence. It was likely performed at gatherings of intellectuals and artists, such as the one described at Villa del Paradiso near Florence in 1389. As the foremost composer of the Trecento period, Landini's works, including Ecco la Primavera, are crucial for understanding the musical developments of this era. The composition features flowing melodies that were characteristic of early Renaissance Italian music. This melodic style would influence the development of Renaissance music more broadly. The work has endured over centuries and continues to be performed and appreciated today, as evidenced by its inclusion in contemporary classical music rankings. Ecco la Primavera thus serves as an essential example of Italy's musical, cultural, and intellectual shifts during the transition from the medieval period to the Renaissance.

Pedal Harp - Digital Download SKU: A0.1493483 By Anna-Maria Ravnopolska-Dean. By Anna-Maria Ravnopolska-Dean. Opera,Romantic Period. Score. 22 pages. Arpa d'Oro #1070130. Published by Arpa d'Oro (A0.1493483). This fantasy is a romantic work based on the opera La Traviata, one of Verdi's masterpieces. It uses the great capabilities of the harp to show the emotions provoked in the main moments of the opera. The main arias are modified through the harp spectrum.  The whole composition follows my interpretation of the opera,my way of thinking and logic. The original themes are modified and combined with my own themes, transitions , and Cadenzas.I combine the two of the most important tunes in the opera: Libiamo and Addio del'passato. Tha most significant thing for me is that they show two very important and contrasting moments in Violeta's life: wnen she falls in love and is happy, and when she senses the near approach of death. I recorded a CD with different opera fantasies, and this inspired me to compose my fantasy on La Traviata.  Enjoy!

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767195 Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Baroque,Renaissance. Score and parts. 15 pages. Lyons Music Services #3074159. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767195). Monteverdi's third book of madrigals of 1592 is one of the earliest steps towards the writing of opera as we know it. In this collection of songs, Monteverdi, for the first time, starts to bring small groups of songs (2 or 3) to form a 'Scena - a collection with similar words or on a similar theme or by the same poet and keeping them as a little group within the book of madrigals. The 9th song, La Tra'l Sangue is a song about love and war. The opening words are Between the blood and the dead.As with all of Monteverdi's vocal music, it translates really well onto instruments. The individual madrigals are available separately. This flexible arrangement is equally playable on woodwind ensembles as on brass.Flexible quintet parts are supplied as follows:Part 1 in Bb,Part 2 in Bb, Part 3 in Bb/Eb/F, Part 4 in Bb/Eb/C(Bass clef) and Part 5 in Bb/Eb/C(Bass clef)Other parts may be requested free of charge.

The first song La giovinetta pianta speaks of a young plant growing into the sunlight and being attached to its roots. This is a typical Renaissance song with loads of hidden meaning and double entendres. As with all of Monteverdi's vocal music, it translates really well onto instruments. Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008332 Composed by Felix Mendelsohn Bartholdy. Arranged by Esaú Flores Carreño. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Esaú Flores Carreño #4795353. Published by Esaú Flores Carreño (A0.1008332). 4:00Another really classic Christmas hymn is Hark! The Heralds Angels Sing, composed originally by Charles Wesley in 1739 with a very different music, it was later modify by his colleague George Whitefield and in 1840 by Felix Mendelsohn who made a Cantata with the Weasley-Whitefield text but with the music known still this days. This arrangement is an Allegro de Sonata, completely  in a classic style therefore really light and ideal for an Offertory in a service or as a recital piece. Aprox. duration: 4:00.
