Instrumental Duet Cello,Instrumental Duet,Viola - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.949311 Composed by Jean Ahn. Classical,Contemporary,Renaissance. Score and parts. 14 pages. Jean Ahn #6079037. Published by Jean Ahn (A0.949311). Renaissance composer Orlando Lasso was an international figure compared to other composers around his time. That is the reason he had two names, Lasso (Italian) and Lassus (German). I played with this fact and explored the possibilities of solfege ‘La-sol’. Lasso's bicinia is paraphrased several times in the piece. There is a timbral cannon toward the end where second cello strictly follows the viola's gesture. It is then dissolved to an improvisatory coda to once again reveal the very theme La-Sol.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1233374 By Daniel H Lloyd. By Daniel H Lloyd. 21st Century,Contemporary,Historic. Score and Parts. 58 pages. Acid Lime Sun #828970. Published by Acid Lime Sun (A0.1233374). Optional string parts are also included and the piece may be played as string ensemble with percussion, concert band or as a combined full orchestra.José Gaspar, literally the last of the Buccaneers, plundered and terrorized the southwest coast of Florida in the late 18th and early 19th centirues. While the truth of the many stories about his life is debatable, he became known as the pirate Gasparilla, from which the famous (or perhaps, infamous) Gasparilla Festival held annually in Tampa, Florida took its name. Much folklore exists about Gasparilla, including that he established a pirate kingdom in a mysterious location in Florida, became terrifically wealthy from plundering ships and holding hostages for ransom, and that he jumped from his ship and drowned rather than be captured by the U.S. Navy in 1821. The piece features many pirate and nautical themes easily playable by 2nd and 3rd year bands, along with a wealth of sound effects from percussion and optional synthesizer.

The official anthem of the Canary Islands, arranged for Brass Quintet & Percussion.A region of Spain, the anthem used in the Canaries for official local occasions was introduced on May 30 (Canary Islands Day), 2003. It is an adaptation of a local folk song called Arrorró (Lullaby). Before the official announcement of the anthem unofficial local songs were in place, and tended to differ depending on the person’s political beliefs. Those who prefered independence for the Canary Islands used the Canto de Tierra as their anthem, while others used another work by Teobaldo Power y Lugo-Vina, Pasodoble Islas Canarias. For more of my original music, great arrangements and all the national anthems of the world, check out my on-line stores: http://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/keith_terret http://musicforalloccasions.org.ukhttp://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=keith+terrett Need an anthem fast? Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1335072 Composed by James R. Murray. Arranged by Connie Boss. Children,Christmas. Score. 4 pages. Connie Boss #920918. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1335072). I put a twist on Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. I added verses and a different melody along with the familiar melody of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. This song starts off with a child waiting patiently in line to see Santa so he can tell him what he wishes for him to bring him for Christmas. I started off with my own original melody and lyrics and then in the middle of the song, when the child finally reaches Santa, I switch to the melody of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. However, to modernize it, I switched to Jolly Old Dear Santa Claus. I kept verse one lyrics the same except for that part. I changed the lyrics entirely for the second verse. The child tells Santa where he can put the presents and hopes one is for him. He also tells him he tries to wait up for him each year, but Santa is so quiet, he sleeps through the night. The last verse is back to my original melody and lyrics where Santa tells him it will be a surprise what he brings him this year. This brings the song all the way from waiting in line to see Santa to sitting on his knee and Santa telling him it will be a surprise. Let me know if you have any questions or request at cdboss@cvalley.net.Lyrics:Here to see Santa Claus “Jolly Old St Nicholasâ€Â I’m here to see Santa Claus But, it’s a long, long line, With lot’s of kids ahead of me, It will take some time I have with me my Christmas listTo tell dear Santa what I wish Now my time is finally hereTo sit up on his kneeHe asked me what I want this yearSo I whisper in his ear Jolly old dear Santa Claus, lean your ear this wayDon’t you tell a single soul what I’m going to sayChristmas eve is coming soon, now you dear old manWhisper what you’ll bring to me – tell me if you can Down the chimney you will comeRight next to the tree,You can put the presents thereI hope there’s one for me You never make any noiseI wait for you each yearBut I sleep all through the nightSo I can’t catch you here Then he looked and smiled at me and whispered in my earIt will be a big surprise what I bring to you this year.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.899136 Composed by Alban Berg. Arranged by Rod Whittle. Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Maggie Creek Music #3874083. Published by Maggie Creek Music (A0.899136). For solo classical guitar; 4 pp; first part of 2nd movement of the Lyric SuiteAlban Berg 1885 -1935Berg was a student of Arnold Schoenberg, and came to prominence with compositions using the atonalism of that school. He incorporated chromaticism and an absence of tonality into his compositions with complete facility, if not to public acclaim. His creativity was interrupted by World War 1, during which he served in the Austrian Army. He returned to composition as a champion of modern music, with his opera Wozzeck (1923) bringing both fame and notoriety. He died of blood poisoning in 1935. Over the past century dissonance increased in the compositions of serious music to a point where the semitones had equal value, which is harmonically a kind of wall. Berg was an early innovator. However, if when strictly followed such serialism reaches an ultimate dissonance that effectively sees off melody and harmony as emotional and structural entities, that still leaves elements around form, dynamics and rhythm for the purposes of expression, and these together with adroit note selection prove to be surprisingly potent for articulation and cohesion. The Lyric Suite (1927), which uses Schoenberg's twelve-tone technique, is a case in point. The very name seems incongruous for an atonal work, yet lyric it is, and if the forms used are necessarily masked by the characteristics of serial writing they are not eliminated by them. In this excerpt a rondo form is used with the principle subject repeated on the third page (noted in the score) after a digression to more remote regions than this form usually adopts, due to the atonality.   As well, Berg's writing is rarely purely atonal. In fact the integration of consonant elements are one of the music's most alluring features. It would be so easy, one feels, for melodic material to coagulate the mix, but in his hands the very opposite is generated, an increased clarity of mood. The music remains consistent, as it should, and the incorporation of (often only relatively) thematic material, if often arresting after so much dissonance, doesn't always always mean less intensity or gloom. It is simply effective, either way. Having said all that, it can hardly be denied that the substance of atonality (dissonance, clashing semitones, unharmonic bass) gives it a special suitability to express dark outlooks, and Berg is the author of Wozzeck and Lulu, no downtown musicals. It is hard to determine if Berg chose atonality because it could deliver the angst or because he was bored with obvious forms and romanticism. Probably both.

Stephanie Martin’s Ascension, Salute the Everlasting Day is written in a festive anthem for SATB choir (div.) and organ for the Feast of the Ascension. The anthem was commissioned by Dr. David and Ann Stinchcomb as part of the 2014-15 Friends of Cathedral Music program at the Cathedral of St. John, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.Text: John Donne (1572-1631)STEPHANIE MARTINCanadian composer and conductor Stephanie Martin is associate professor of music at York University’s School of the Arts, Media,Performance and Design; artistic director of Pax Christi Chorale; director of Schola Magdalena (a women’s ensemble specializing in chant and medieval polyphony) and past director of music at the historic church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Toronto.Martin holds degrees from the University of Toronto and Wilfrid Laurier University, and is an Associate of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. In York University’s School of Arts,Media,Performance and Design she teaches music history, composition, harpsichord and organ, and coaches historical ensembles.ReviewsWhen someone says new music, most people imagine something abstract or conceptual, probably dissonant and experimental...Martin is a great tone painter who serves her texts with great attention to detail while also drawing the us along in a broader musical narrative...Martin, who was director of music at Toronto’s Church of St Mary Magdalene for several years, is particularly effective in setting texts with a devotional bent.John Terauds Musical Toronto & Toronto Star
