Y Ddau Farch (The Two Mares) The song tells the story of two horses. The older one tells the younger, “In my day I was as good a horse as you�. But when I became too old to work, I was sent away to the mountains. She vows never to return to her cruel owners. This is an example of a macaronic song in which the lyrics use more than one language.  2. Si Hei Lwli, ’Mabi (Sleep, my Lovely Baby) In this pentatonic lullaby, a mother tells her child that their ship is moving away, the captain is on board, the eastern wind is blowing and the seagull is on its nest. 3. Canu Cwnsela (Wassail Song) The singers ask permission to come in and sing for their dinner. But they seem to have chosen the wrong house because the reply is: “I have no dinner or money to spend, to give you a welcome tonight.� The melody is in the Dorian Mode.  4. Robin Ddiog (Lazy Robin) The song, also in the Aeolian mode is about a robin whose little house is always tidy. “Open the door a little bit, so that I can see the sea and the waves� he asks. When the door is opened, the breeze sweeps away all the leaves from the floor. 5. Migildi Magildi “When the smithy’s door is open, we can see the blacksmith working.� The song describes the sights and sounds of the blacksmith’s workshop.You can hear all the songs in the audio demo, though they are played by an oboe rather than sung.

There’s a funny little story with how I wrote this piece. I’ve got these dice called ‘Rory’s Story Cubes’ which have little pictures on them and they’re meant to be an ice breaker where you roll the dice and come up with a story based on the images that come up. Anyway, I thought of using them to help me come up with an idea for a new composition. So I rolled some of the dice and there was a picture of a fire, a house, and someone running - something like that, I can’t remember exactly what the pictures were. Then that prompted me to write this composition: ‘Fire in the House’. It was a great way to try something new and write something that I never would have thought to write if it were not for those dice.Through the piece I have written little annotations to explain what is happening in the story of the piece of music and the scene I was trying to reflect in the music. It was a fun little piece to write and I really enjoyed using the dice to come up with a story for me to write about - I should definitely do it more often to try something new and get out of my comfort zone. I highly recommend you pick some up one day if you write music too - they’re a great tool to have!

His name is sometimes seen as Artsibushev, Artsybuchev, Artzibushev, Artzybushev, Artchibousheff, Arcybusev, etc.Artsybushev was born at Tsarskoye Selo in 1858. His legal studies were at the Imperial School of Jurisprudence in Saint Petersburg, after which he practised in St Petersburg as an attorney. He also dabbled in music composition, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov gave him private lessons in music theory after Mily Balakirev said his works showed some promise.He also became acquainted with the music publisher Mitrofan Belyayev and participated in his regular weekly gatherings called Fridays (Vendredis). To mark these occasions, a group of 10 composers including Artsybushev collaborated on a 16-part suite for string quartet, called Les Vendredis. His contribution was a Serenade in A major. He also collaborated with others on Variations on a Russian Theme, in versions for both string quartet and orchestra.He was a member of the St Petersburg City Council. After Belyayev's death in 1903 he became chairman of the board of the Belyayev publishing house, in which capacity he had significant dealings with Alexander Scriabin. From 1908 to 1917 he was President of his city's branch of the Russian Musical Society, and later succeeded Rimsky-Korsakov as President of the Board of Trustees for the Society for the Encouragement of Russian Musicians.In 1920 he moved to Paris and became a director of the Belyayev publishing house there. A beautiful, relaxing trio for alto flute, bass flute, and classical guitar (optionally with added keyboard-synthesizer), in the romantic impressionistic style (Debussy, Ravel, Delibes, Satie, etc.), by Bradley Powell, who has recorded many albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. A moderately easy piece for the flutes, and an intermediate level classical guitar part. Here it perfomed by Bradley Powell featuring GIlberto Hildavio performing the alto and bass flute parts.  The Alto flute part, Bass flute part, and guitar part are all included here (the optional keyboard plays chords off the guitar part).Gilberto Hildavio was a flute student Luella Howard, principal flutist of the 20th Century Fox Studio orchestra in Los Angeles. Hildavio has played woodwinds for many leading shows in Los Angeles (including Sunset Blvd, Fiddler on the Roof.), and performed with many musical stars, including the Percy Faith orchestra. ABOUT the composer: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. Brad also played as the solo guitarist for Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventure at Disney's Grand Californian Resort by Disneyland (March 2019-January 2024), providing music for the Disney Princesses (Belle, Tiana, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Mulan, Aurora, Ariel, Pocahontas, Cinderella, and their friends and guests).

Apart from the collection of Classical Manuscripts composed by the violin virtuoso Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) which he had passed off as transcriptions of settings of old masters, the violinist published original works early on as well. Kreisler himself liked to play them as encore pieces, thus sweetening many a concert with this 'musical confectionery'. Famous tunes are, for example, Liebesfreud, Liebesleid and Schön Rosmarin, his old Viennese dance tunes, in which Kreisler evoked the coffee-house atmosphere of his home town with beautiful melodies and mellifluous harmonies. Another wonderful example is his Marche miniature viennoise, with its humorous theme and a rather march-like middle section - and everywhere, Kreisler takes the audience by surprise with a little Viennese snide humour. Kreisler's original compositions are lovely miniatures, lively and catchy, even with a touch of melancholy - yet full of charm and elegance. Arranged for string trio, they are enjoyable to play and worth listening to and a valuable addition to the repertoire - ideal for sociable music-making or as pieces to end a 'serious' concert.
