Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1084247 Composed by Turlough O'carolan. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Celtic,Irish. Score and parts. 23 pages. Derek Hasted #688426. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1084247). PLANXTY THREE - 3 Celtic pieces for THREE GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEDerek Hasted writes Turlough Oâ??Carolan, the blind Irish Harpist, wrote some of the most gorgeous Celtic melodies - pieces that still delight today. Here are three contrasting pieces, each beginning with the word â??Planxtyâ? - the meaning of which is still the subject of some debate, but thereâ??s evidence to suggest that the Publishers added the title when they were unsure of the full name of the person to whom the piece was dedicated. Planxty Irwin is a sedate piece with simple but rich harmonies Planxty George Brabazon is much more stirring - almost march-like in its pace Planxty Sir Festus Burke is a masterpiece of busyness - a real crowd-pleaser Together they make a wonderful suite for a concert, gradually lifting the mood and pace from piece to piece. In each piece, the 3 guitar parts range in complexity from early intermediate to intermediate, so thereâ??s something for everyone. I hope you enjoy these pieces!

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1257185 Composed by Nicholas White. 21st Century,Classical,Traditional. Octavo. 16 pages. Nicholas White Music #850509. Published by Nicholas White Music (A0.1257185). George Eliot's poem is given a rich and powerful setting for choir and organ.O May I join the choir invisible  Of those immortal dead who live again  In minds made better by their presence: live  In pulses stirr'd to generosity,  In deeds of daring rectitude, in scorn For miserable aims that end with self,  In thoughts sublime that pierce the night like stars,  And with their mild persistence urge man's search  To vaster issues.          So to live is heaven:  To make undying music in the world,  Breathing as beauteous order that controls  With growing sway the growing life of man.  So we inherit that sweet purity  For which we struggled, fail'd, and agoniz'd With widening retrospect that bred despair.  Rebellious flesh that would not be subdued,  A vicious parent shaming still its child,  Poor anxious penitence, is quick dissolv'd;  Its discords, quench'd by meeting harmonies,   Die in the large and charitable air.  And all our rarer, better, truer self,  That sobb'd religiously in yearning song,  That watch'd to ease the burthen of the world,  Laboriously tracing what must be,      And what may yet be better,—saw within  A worthier image for the sanctuary,  And shap'd it forth before the multitude,  Divinely human, raising worship so  To higher reverence more mix'd with love,—    That better self shall live till human Time  Shall fold its eyelids, and the human sky  Be gather'd like a scroll within the tomb Unread forever.          This is life to come,  Which martyr'd men have made more glorious       For us who strive to follow. May I reach  That purest heaven, be to other souls  The cup of strength in some great agony,  Enkindle generous ardor, feed pure love,  Beget the smiles that have no cruelty,Be the sweet presence of a good diffus'd,  And in diffusion ever more intense!  So shall I join the choir invisible  Whose music is the gladness of the world.

Text: Spare these thy children who do believe, These who believe on my Name. As I present each child to Thee I will, Myself, take the shame. Father, behold my suff’ring and death, I, who without sin. Honor my blood, the blood of thy Son. O, let thy child enter in. Spare these thy children placed before Thee; For each I offer to stand. As I approach thy holiest throne O, accept scars on my hands. Father, behold each one of thy own! Mercy was gifted by Me. All to thy glory, thy sacred Name, So these, thy children, could be.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719731 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Curtis Hanson #4573021. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719731). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal/choral tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include I Need Thee Every Hour, O Jesus, I Have Promised, and The Church's One Foundation.

Small Ensemble High Voice,Oboe,Piano Accompaniment - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.981218 Composed by Judith Cloud. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 17 pages. Judith Cloud #6689693. Published by Judith Cloud (A0.981218). Composer’s Notes             In my parents' library there was an assortment of very old books that I used to leaf through while home for holidays.  One of these, The Ladies' Wreath, was of special interest.  The inscription inside the front cover read To Miss Sophia Venable by her friend William M. Duphuy, April 25, 1850.  Within the collection of romantic short stories and poems was The Poet's Pen from the Greek didactic poet Menecrates.  Here was something very different from the overly sentimental offerings in most of the volume.  I imagined the solitary lady reading this would feel most exhilarated and even empowered.  Ideas for setting the poem came almost immediately, with the oboe as a key figure.  Having experimented with a choral setting, I settled on tenor, oboe and piano and in 1989 the piece was completed.  I revised The Poet’s Pen in 2016. The Poet's Pen I was a useless reed; no cluster hungMy brow with purple grapes; no blossom flungThe coronet of crimson on my stem;No apple blushed upon me, nor (the gemof flowers) the violet strewed the yellow heathAround my feet; nor jessamine's sweet wreathRobed me in silver: day and night I pinedOn the lone moor, and shivered in the wind.At length a poet found me.  From my sideHe smoothed the pale and withered leaves, and dyedMy lips in Helicon.  From that high hour,I spoke! my words were flame and living power! All the wide wonders of the earth were mine;Far as the surges roll, or sunbeams's shine;Deep as earth's bosom hides the emerald;High as the hills with thunder-clouds are palled; And there was sweetness round me, that the dewHad never wet so sweet on violets blue.To me the mighty scepter was a wand; The roar of nations pealed at my command. To me the dungeon, sword, and scourge were vain,I smote the smiter, and I broke the chain;Or, towering o'er them all, without a plumeI pierced the purple air, the tempest's gloom,Till blazed th'Olympian glories on my eye,Stars, temples, thrones and gods--infinity. Menecrates of Ephesus (330-270 BC)
