She happened to be wearing blue face-paint at the time, and at one point, with her finger, she smeared some of it onto his face, leaving a faint blue stripe. Although the two of them did not end up dating, it still made for a beautiful piece of music.The Blue Stripe was performed (in a slightly different arrangement) for the first time ever by Binghamton University's Explorchestra, on 2 December 2017.
