SATB choir, Organ, Narration - Digital Download SKU: LX.65-1968LA A Christmas Celebration for Mixed Voices and Organ. Composed by Stephen Walters. Choral Cantatas. Christmas. 64 pages. Laurel Press #e65/1968LA. Published by Laurel Press (LX.65-1968LA). ISBN 9780893280475. UPC: 000308102468.With the narrations and text derived from notable Christmas poems and carols both ancient and modern, this seasonal music service makes its mark as a sophisticated, inspired and effective conveyer of the familiar Christmas story. This unique approach is reminiscent of the well-known Lessons and Carols format, but causes one to think anew about the meaning of Christmas through poetry rather than scripture. Accompanied by organ, Word Made Flesh incorporates familiar carols throughout, ending with a fully developed carol quodlibet as a finale.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533179). This work is in three movements: the first and third, very animated and intense, form a sort of framing for the second movemnt which is in another orchestral color and another intensity. This second movement is inspired by a fragment from Masnavi by the poet Jallaleddin el Roumi. The text is recited to express the poetry and the beauty of the cosmos. This text has inspired Thérèse Brenet in several works. This is the orchestral score. The parts are available on rental from the publisher. Small Ensemble Harp,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799604 Composed by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #3417119. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799604). This short song was composed in 2012 during my doctoral coursework at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. It was written for tenor, but given its accessible range (Db4 to G5 in the original key), it would work well for lighter voices in many fachs, including light lyric sopranos, baritones, and mezzos. The text, translated from a poem by Takuboku Ishikawa (1886-1912), is gender-neutral. This would be a great introduction to new music for an undergraduate singer with strong aural skills and a still-light voice (since young dramatics might overpower the harp). If you'd like to talk about commissioning a transposed score, please get in touch! Transposition options will be a bit more limited with the harp than with the piano, but I'm sure we could make something work.Poem text (in English translation, as it appears in the score)Setting sun, Drifting clouds, New moon, Evening twilight, What do they matter to me?Composer biography:Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile composer, teacher, collaborative pianist, and music theorist currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. Currently a PhD candidate in music theory at Indiana University, she recently completed a doctoral minor in composition, having studied with Claude Baker, Don Freund, P. Q. Phan, and David Schneider. She also holds a B.Mus. from the University of Michigan, where she studied composition with Bright Sheng and piano with Louis Nagel. Nicole's music has been heard across the world: along with numerous performances in the Midwest, her commissioned song settings of Muscogee poet laureate Alexander Posey's texts have been performed at Shorter College (GA) and Lincoln University (PA), and the Smithsonian Institution procured copies of two of these (Nature's Blessings and A Vision) to archive at the National Museum of the American Indian. Additionally, Nicole's viola duo Three Episodes was featured at Ball State University's 40th Annual New Music Festival in February 2010. Her early compositions have been garnering interest as well: music students in Kenya performed several of Nicole's such pieces in May 2013 through a pedagogical project spearheaded by IU faculty member Kimberly Carballo. Nicole's music also received its Mexican premiere in October 2013 with a performance of her Divertimento, written for the International String Quartet of Yucatán. In 2014, Nicole published a set of twenty short pedagogical pieces in uncommon keys, entitled Venturing Beyond, available on SheetMusicPlus. Also a sought-after teacher and adjudicator, Nicole frequently judges regional and divisional MTNA composition competitions at all levels, ranging from elementary to college-level Young Artists, and she also served as the composition department chair at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in 2014. Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1257352 Composed by Phil Rawle. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. 4 pages. Phillip Rawle #850685. Published by Phillip Rawle (A0.1257352). In this poem, 'The Greenwood Tree', the poet William Shakespeare describes the charms of forest life and asks people to come and join him in the forest. The poet invites any enthusiastic friends to come and take time to relax under the greenwood tree and turn any melodious note of the heart into the sweetest song that the sweetest bird can ever sing. The friend is free to sing like a bird. So anyone can come immediately towards the greenwood tree. Here one shall find no enemies but only the rough and cold weather of winter. For Soprano solo and Piano.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726093 Composed by Ludvig M. Lindeman. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. Score and parts. 17 pages. Con Spirito Music #4967607. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726093). Built on the Rock is a proclamation, through scripturally anchored words and sturdily architected music, of the nature and eternity of the Church whose foundation is Jesus Christ. Long a favorite of Scandinavian Christians and Lutherans, the hymn was written by Danish theologian, cleric, and poet Nicolai F.S. Grundtvig (1783-1872), whose criticism of the rationalist philosophy then predominant in the Danish Lutheran church, and his argument for Christianity as a revealed, inspired, and sacramental religion, led to the revitalization of that church. The text was translated to English by Carl Doving (1867-1937).The tune accompanying the text, known as KIRKEN DEN DER ET, was the first hymn tune written by Danish organist, composer, and folk music collector Ludvig Mathias Lindeman (1812-1887). It is an austere, arching, and folk-like melody in the Dorian mode. This arrangement begins with individual voices of the brass quintet, like individual members of the Church, joining together in various combinations and as a whole to introduce the tune. Verses 2 and 3 (measure numbers 33 and 65) present the tune in additional combinations. Verse 4 (measure 101) introduces alternate harmonizations and features a soaring descant in Trumpet 1, powerful unison statements by the entire ensemble, and majestic final chords.©2019 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music. It is traditionally played on Holocaust Day, which is on the 28th day of the Hebrew month of Nissan in Israel, or January 27th in the rest of the world. Ani Maamin (I Believe): The words to this simple song are of the Jewish prayer I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah. The tune is attributed to Azriel David Festig, a leading Warsaw hazzan (cantor) who died in the Holocaust. The song was performed after the war by Rabbi Shaul Yedidia Eliezer Taub, the Admor (Rabbinical leader) of the Modzitz Hassidic sect, and has become the iconic song of the remembrance in the Hassidic community.  This is one of four songs for Holocaust Remembrance Day that I have arranged for string quartet. Unter Dyne Vyse Shteren (Under the Starry Sky) was written by Avraham Sutskover, a leading Yiddish poet, while trapped in the ghetto of Vilna, in July 1943. He died in Israel in 2010 at the age of 96. The poem was set to music by Avraham Brodna, a simple laborer in the Vilna ghetto who died in a concentration camp. Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.1007509 Composed by R. LaBanca. Contemporary. Octavo. 14 pages. R. LaBanca #4801000. Published by R. LaBanca (A0.1007509). The text for this piece comes from one of my favorite American poets, Kenneth Patchen, who has been the inspiration for several of my compositions. The sense imagery that is illiciated from his words resonate with me. The sounds of musical waves become the bases for the piece. The women’s voices are used as the vehicles of the text while the men’s voices service as a lilting musical ebb and flow. The idea that life and love float along like petals on the ocean, blowing ashore with no ability to change anything - just along for the ride, is a powerful thought. The poet also suggests that even with a long life, our understanding of pleasure is like that of snow, fleeting and temporary. And life keeps blowing rose petals from the ocean to the land in a seemingly random but perhaps divine pattern. This piece utilizes flute and ocean drum to create the atmosphere of the coastline and waves.

Instrumental Duet,Low Voice,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.984264 Composed by Alexander Campbell, arranged by Karen E McAulay. Arranged by Karen E McAulay. Contemporary,Folk. 4 pages. Dr Karen E McAulay #3680015. Published by Dr Karen E McAulay (A0.984264). A bit of background: the poet of this tragic song was Anon (maybe the tune-collector Alexander Campbell himself?), and he set it to an ancient Lowland melody that he had collected on his song-collecting travels. The lyrics tell the story of a girl who went out of her mind with grief, when her fiance was taken from her on their wedding day. The theme is strongly reminiscent of a very popular song, Crazy Jane.
