This great song by American artist Eric Carmen was released in 1975. The verse is based on the second movement (Adagio sostenuto) of Sergei Rachmaninoff's circa 1900-1901 Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18, famously used to underscore the 1945 British film Brief Encounter. The chorus was taken from the song Let's Pretend, which Carmen wrote and recorded with the Raspberries in 1972. Many famous artists sang that song, among them Celine Dion.

The Accompaniment Book is in full score showing parts for violin pupil, violin accompaniment and keyboard accompaniment. The pupils feel they are making 'real music' when playing with the accompaniment. The accompaniment is such a vital part of the style of learning in the 8 volumes of Collections available separately each for Violin, Viola, Cello and some for Double Bass. In the Fruity Collection the music is based on different fruit with a sharp contrast between Nice and Nasty Raspberries. Banana Split presents a challenge for bowing and plucking on alternate notes. For further details, describing the learning stages for the students in each Collection, please refer to the description for each of the pupils' books found on this site. The Glossary in Volume 9 provides an overview of the 8 other collections. There is a summary of the learning points in the pupils' books at the beginning of each Collection. This is especially useful for teachers involved in recording lesson plans and in planning curriculum development. Each Collection is available separately and will soon be published in PDF in two volumes with four Collections in each or all together in a whole volume. The pupils' book has a total of 66 pages for all 9 Collections. A midi, sound version of the accompaniments is not yet available but is under consideration (November 2022).
