Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.778607 Composed by Don Hodell Chilcote. Arranged by Don Hodell Chilcote. Christian,Gospel,Jazz,Latin. Score. 7 pages. Don Hodell Chilcote #48197. Published by Don Hodell Chilcote (A0.778607). The Star-Spangled Banner. 21st Century, Gospel, Jazz, Pop, Latin. Advanced. Sheet Music Single. Published by Don Hodell Chilcote The Star-Spangled Banner is composed by Don Hodell Chilcote for advanced piano. A setting of the national anthem, just has been updated to include funk, latin, gospel, jazz, and bebop. Simple and groovin at times and also harmonically daring and rich with great resonance. Big Chords and great nonfunctional Gospel sounding voice leading produces a striking example of the beauty qualities of this astounding gem. Piece includes multiple distinct and unique themes and developments before concluding. 6 page arrangement is challenging but not overly so, and well worth the effort to learn. Deeply funky tune draws from inspiration in Hezekiah Walker, Chick Corea, Ricky Dillard, Charlie Parker, and Theolonious Monk. It was used for a piano and drum prelude in church, for a moment in time. It was lots of fun to play.

Choral Choir (5-Part) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1217539 Composed by F. Key/J. Smith. Arranged by Bill ORANGE Lyons. A Cappella,Jazz,Patriotic,Traditional. Octavo. 8 pages. Bill ORANGE Lyons #813988. Published by Bill ORANGE Lyons (A0.1217539). This chart was arragned for the Sounds of Honda which was a community choir made of employees from the Honda HQ in Torrance, CA. Since written for a community choir it is an easier version than S-SB (III) and is more on par with S-SB (I). Having said that, you will still find some interesting chordal voicings that will eventually please. The larger the choir, the better this arrangement sounds. But even if done by a small chorus, you will be pleased. Once again it goes outside of the 'traditional' melodic and harmonic ideas but not by much. It's enough so you notice the differences but pleasing enough that you won't mind them. If at this point you are torn and can't quite decide if this is the National Anthem for you, then go to my website http://BillORANGELyonsMusic.com and listen to the track and after hearing it the only question might become do I buy The Star-Spangled Banner (I) (available only on UNCJazzPress.com), The Star-Spangled (III) or The Star-Spangled Banner (V).Enjoy the music. God Bless the USA and enjoy the blessings of the day!

It closes out with a broad, full-ensemble finale that is sure to bring any audience to its feet. Very playable by jazz ensembles of any level.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933611 Composed by John Stafford Smith. Arranged by Thomas Coker. Folk,Patriotic. Octavo. 4 pages. Thomas Rembert Coker Jr #3503513. Published by Thomas Rembert Coker Jr (A0.933611). In 2009 when Sanctuary Choir of South Main Baptist Church in Houston where I served as Music Minister was scheduled to sing the National Anthem for the Houston Astros baseball game, I carefully examined the several arrangements in our library and other resources. Finding nothing which met the simple, straight-forward criteria I was searching for, we created this simple arrangement. Since its addition to the music library it has proven very useful on numerous occasions for a variety of groups. About the National Anthem:The lyrics for The Star-Spangled Banner were written on September 14, 1814 from a British ship in the Baltimore Harbor where attorney Francis Scott Key had waited anxiously through the night as the twenty-five hour bombing of Ft. McHenry progressed. He had been sent to negotiate the release of an American civilian and then was held on board the ship.  At the dawn’s early light when the flag could still be seen indicating the British had not taken the fort, he jotted down this poem which on March 3, 1931 finally became the National Anthem of the United States. Interestingly, it was Robert Ripley who in November of 1929 drew a panel in his syndicated cartoon, Ripley’s Believe It or Not stating Believe It or Not, America has no national anthem. With the encouragement of John Philip Sousa, President Herbert Hoover signed into law the adoption of The Star-Spangled Banner to rectify this situation. According to the Smithsonian, the melody, written by John Stafford Smith, was originally titled Anacreon in Heaven. Anacreon was an ancient Greek poet known for his love of wine and love. The song had become the constitutional song of a London gentlemen’s club called the Anacreontic Society. Could this explain the wide range of the melody? By utilizing this tune to the moving text, this once merry drinking song took on a bold new and powerful meaning. Thomas Coker, August 27, 2015

My Country, 'Tis of Thee, also known as simply America, is an American patriotic song, the lyrics of which were written by Samuel Francis Smith. The song served as one of the de facto national anthems of the United States (along with songs like Hail, Columbia) before the adoption of The Star-Spangled Banner as the official U.S. national anthem in 1931. The melody used is adopted from the national anthem of the United Kingdom, God Save the King.

Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.796823 Composed by Francis Scott Key, John Stafford Smith. Arranged by Eric Hagmann. A Cappella,Holiday,Instructional,Patriotic,Standards. Octavo. 2 pages. Eric Hagmann #4362333. Published by Eric Hagmann (A0.796823). A staple at sporting events, 4th of July outings, school assemblies, and more, The Star-Spangled Banner is an important tradition in American culture.  This SSAA a cappella arrangement adds a rich, new layer of harmony to the common melody that we've all come to know. Standard progressions are given a fresh approach with chords smoothly moving from one to the other in a manner influenced by changes found directly in jazz theory. A pinch of syncopation, without overdoing it, adds new bounce to lines that were once stiff and rigid.  If your ensemble is looking for a version of the US National Anthem that has some flavor without straying too far from the original form, this arrangement is for you!Feel free to follow me on Facebook and reach out with any questions or comments: https://www.facebook.com/erichagmannmusic/
