Although it’s in 3/4 it’s neither courante nor galliard, waltz nor minuet. It just is. Unusually for me, the chordal accompaniment is written for harpsichord (or any keyboard instrument), in order to get the full arpeggiation not possible on my octave mandola or bouzouki.The Western Heights, in Dover, used to be a really fun place to go; a barracks inter alia for a French invasion that never quite happened. Miles of tunnels built into a mountainside with rotten drawbridges, very steep stone staircases and plenty of rats. I used to climb inside and spend hours wandering around in the dark stumbling over debris, squeezing through narrow gaps, climbing walls. It’s been taken over now by various doers of good and made ‘safe’. I think you have to pay to get in. Back in the day one could be Indiana Jones for a while and have a truly great time.

Cohan that was popular with the United States military and public during both world wars. It is a patriotic song designed to galvanize American young men to enlist and fight the Hun. The song is best remembered for a line in its chorus: The Yanks are coming. Cohan wrote it after he had learned that the US had abandoned their policy of non-interventionism and planned to enter World War I on the side of the Allied Powers. It has been revived on various occasions during and after World War II. It was not heavily used during the Vietnam War but has been used since the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Sections using mallets, echoes, martellatos and shakes are employed, as Carolyn was a percussionist who loved techniques on handbells. The contrasting middle section is the blue period, and is best played on handchimes if possible. This work is suitable for worship, festivals and concerts. The alternate title, The Colors of Love, may be used in secular settings.

A good wedding processional march- it works great for the bridal march of the maids and I have used it for the bride as well. It works quite well for longer processions due to being a three part work. So, there is room to repeat with variety.  Another unique attribute of the work is it's versatility. It can be done with as few as three string players. Or, you can add the viola to make it a quartet. Or, you can complement that with Organ and there is a trumpet obligado part that can be added as well. Works great for any sort of procession music such as school graduation or awards dinner .  I wrote this piece in 1996 and revised it in 2009. Arranged wind quintet Clarinet In A and Horn in D (Alt Clt in Bb and Horn in F included) The Slavonic Dances (Czech: Slovanské tance) are a series of 16 orchestral pieces composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1878 and 1886 and published in two sets as Opus 46 and Opus 72 respectively. Originally written for piano four hands, the Slavonic Danceswere inspired by Johannes Brahms's own Hungarian Dances and were orchestrated at the request of Dvořák's publisher soon after composition. The pieces, lively and full of national character, were well received at the time and today are among the composer's most memorable works, occasionally making appearances in popular culture. This is my arrangement of no.6 (In some versions listed as no.3) :a gentle Allegretto scherzando: it suits the wind quintet I have attempted to give the players somewhere to breath, so they are not always tutti.
