This arrangement is very special and personal for me, because I am a Hate Crime victim /survivor as well. Even in today's society , where about 20% or less of Hate Crime Victims even report attacks or even serious physical harm. The laws have been changing slowly in the last 10 years , taking away penalties and sentencing from this heinous crimes. Legislators and law makers have diminishing what defines hate crimes, if hate crimes deserve additional sentencing, taking away laws that would ensure and help to protect this minority population most vulnerable to being victims. And not just in the USA, but around the world LGBTQ+ persons , are being attacked , imprisoned, and even murdered everyday . IIn the USA, Even where as victims like myself are seriously harmed , and in the hospital , requiring surgery, permanently maimed , broken bones, etc. most criminal perpetrators get minimal sentencing , even probation . And as in my case, these criminals had have multiple other serious convictions of physical harm to others and even serious gun charges. Please make your voice heard, help protect yourself, or your family, friends, and loved ones by contacting law makers local and federal to let them know this is not ok, and laws need to be changed to protect every person . PF, PS intro music is a gift for Mary, Mother of Jesus.  I first conceived of this poem and melody while an undergraduate at Duke Univ, sharing it with a friend who enjoyed the jazz reggae syncopation and melody line as we sang bits of the poem together.  The poem is a long popular song, and it took me some time to perfect the intro as it is today.  I am very proud of this work, as I believe it is a most original P/V intro to reggae melodies as we know them today.  I write this song in honor of Mary, because she is such a genuine Goddess of Creation, the majestic and pure Mother of Jesus who always interacted with others in a straightforward and genuine manner.  This song is about perseverance in the face of interpersonal superficiality, and it will take me some more time and effort to differentially cut and paste the strophic nature of the music on Finale.  Enjoy!PS The title page and introduction to Puddle Jumpin' were written many years ago, and map out my dream of writing the Puddle Jumpin' Songbook Collection, Songs for Children of All Ages.  Come Sweet Jesus, and save us from ourselves!!!  One Family in Christ, JCY

He is aware that danger is out there, but for this moment, the peril is far enough away to let his guard down….maybe…. The pages of the comic book super “hero,� The Incredible Hulk, have always been among my favorites. I am personally one of the great defenders of the character’s films. And, as a child, I loved re-runs of the The Incredible Hulk television show. Bixby Walks Alone is the musical intersection of this love. Inspired by the tragic, lonely ending of each episode of the television series, as well as the intense, expositive opening credits sequence of the 2008 film, I sat down and created the minimalist engine that drives this piece. Originally conceived for bassoon quartet, the opportunity to write a work for the Heartland Marimba Quartet allowed me to flesh out this feeling of tension even further.

Feature a soprano soloist or the section on an ethereal descant that elevates the texture to sublime heights.This piece came about for two different reasons. The initial musical idea evolved while I was working on a short study for piano, so the piece was strictly instrumental.The other idea stemmed from a discussion with my friend and mentor Dr Phillip Cooke, about why the word “Alleluia is so commonly used in choral music. Apart from the obvious reasons – “Alleluia being a significant word in the sacred music tradition, and so on – we discussed the multiple possibilities a composer has with a word like that, in the sense that different syllables can be stressed, such as alleluia, alleluia or alleluia.This was something I used as the other structural building block in the composition, and I added “Alleluia as the only word, but with the emphasis moving to different syllables throughout the piece. For me, the setting of a single word like “Alleluia is far from any texts I usually set. The word, however, has a strong anchorage in musical tradition and composers have always set this word in all kinds of different ways.In this composition, I am interested in the word itself, the build-up of the word, the structure of the music, and adding something to the musical tradition of setting this famous word to music.This piece was premiered by the University of Aberdeen Chapel Choir at King’s College Chapel in Aberdeen, Scotland. The performance was conducted by their Director of Chapel and Ceremonial Music, Stuart Muir. – Henrik Dahlgren.
