The song was added to the 1997 television version in which Whitney Houston sang the song. It was also put into the new 2013 Broadway adaptation of R&H’s Cinderella. Here is the lead sheet version of Were You There When They Crucified My Lord? as heard on my YouTube channel. This version is in C major to match the original recording, and includes a full two-page version with the different chords for each verse as well as a condensed version that has everything on one page for convenience in a worship team binder.

This version of the classic Good Friday hymn has beautiful chords to accompany the solemn, simple melody and point towards the deep meaning and solemnity of Holy Week. It works well as a solo or congregational song for any Easter service, particularly for Good Friday or Maundy Thursday.
