Are We There Yet Blues is an Advanced Intermediate Blues piano solo, 1 minute and 45 seconds long, in the key of C; with 16th notes, and 16th note triplets nested in 8th note triplets. Don’t be intimidated by all the notes, they fit nicely within hand positions. I have found although there is a lot of EASY material for boogie learners, and at the other end of the spectrum, complicated transcriptions, I needed to write intermediate pieces for my students to fill the material gap. Cowper was an English 18th Century poet and hymnist. Mason was an early 19th Century American banker, composer, and conductor. Cowper came up with the tune and Mason did some modifications with it. There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel's veins... discussses the cleansing power of Jesus' blood during the Crucifixion. This is a perfect piece for Good Friday, alter calls, and the like. Section A exposits the hymn. There is a modulation to a new key using a French augmented sixth chord. Section B then includes a descant by yours truly.
