Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1256884 Composed by Lon W. Chaffin. 21st Century,Chamber. 71 pages. LCS Productions #850272. Published by LCS Productions (A0.1256884). Imagine a place where cultures are blended and people of all races can laugh, play, sing, dance, and even pray together.  Colores is a musical tale in which children show us how to create such a place.A child walks on to a deserted playground, looking for others.  Another child joins.  They introduce themselves and begin to talk to each other.  A third joins the conversation, then another, and another, until there is a large group of children, creating a colorful, contrapuntal cacophony of vocal chatter.  After the introductions and lively conversations, they pause to decide what to do next.  As would be expected, they decide to just play.  They run races, play chase and tag, catch and kickball, and laugh and giggle until their energy is gone.  Settling down, and wondering what to do next, one child begins singing a tune that is familiar.  …but not to all of them.  So, it’s time to teach the song to everyone. The tune is shared, bit by bit, and one by one every child learns it and joins in.  Before it’s over, their full-voiced singing creates a choral tapestry in which every child adds his or her own color to the musical palette. After a brief conversation, they add their renewed energy to the song they just learned, pick up the pace, and dance.  They twist and spin, jump and swing, making up their moves as they go along.  But, as before, their energy wanes.  This time, as they settle down, one child feels so comfortable with these new friends, he chooses to share his faith in the form of a chant — a prayer. Some join his prayer, as others add a familiar religious tune.  They pray and sing, and their separate experiences combine to produce a stirring, blended chorale.  As they finish, the day ends and they quickly reminisce about the blended experiences that are now behind them.  Before they go their separate ways, they share a moment of gratitude for the place where they can be free to be who they are, together. On a musical note, Colores combines multiple scale structures and varying types of vertical harmonies to give the piece its color palette.  Each of the five voices is set in a different mode, with different tonal centers and sets of accidentals.  The harmony combines both traditional tertian chords with secondal, quartal, and quintal structures. The colors within the music are intended to represent the racial diversity of the borderland from which the composer drew his inspiration.  It is hoped that we can learn from the example of children who talk, laugh, play, sing, dance, and pray together.  …who are grateful for the time and experiences they share.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1205194 Composed by M.Y Owusu. Contemporary. Score. 3 pages. M.Y Owusu #803377. Published by M.Y Owusu (A0.1205194). Aphelion is one of my few pieces that's meant to tell a story and it's not incredibly specific, but here is the story of Aphelion. However, the definition of aphelion first is incredibly important.aphelion (noun):the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is furthest from the sun.And it's very important to know the definition of its absolute antonym: perihelion.perihelion (noun):the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is closest to the sun. These are terms used in astronomy to describe a celestial object's extreme distance from the sun. I'm using this to describe a relationship between two people. The type of relationship does not matter, it is simply just a relationship. However, you perceive it: platonic, romantic, etc. That is up to your interpretation.Aphelion follows the story of two people, with the start of the piece not actually being the aphelion, but however the perihelion, starting in D Major. It highlights their relationship as perfect, well-rounded, and flawless relationship. Some may call it a honeymoon era/phase or just the possible closest two people could be, i.e the perihelion. Then the two slowly drift away, with a shift to B Minor and D Minor. Issues, flaws, and problems that weren't there before begin to appear. These issues are quickly shoved under the rug, and the two pretend that they are nonexistent. The piece shifts back to D major incredibly quickly, however, there is a slight sense of uneasiness within the piece that I intended to create as it goes through this relationship that is clearly rocky, but it isn't being addressed because neither are choosing to communicate these issues. Then, the mysterious part hits very quickly, this is the aphelion. following a D Minor chord progression, then a shift into D minor itself. This part is where the relationship issues reach a boiling point, neither can stand the other and any attempt to resolve the issues is essentially useless. They stay in a toxic relationship. However, it's labeled as mysterious because the future is an absolute mystery to the two. They don't know what will happen. Then, one confronts the other, they choose to genuinely communicate. It's where the shift back to D Major occurs. They finally come to an understanding. At this point, they can choose to stay in the relationship, and work on the issues, or come to an understanding that it might not work from here, because a relationship takes two. There is a sense of peace, they are finally at peace with one another and their situation. Life can continue moving on, and the piece ends on an A Major chord. This is because A Major can be interpreted as one finally becoming content. That is the story that I intended to tell by writing Aphelion.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.957971 Composed by Nancy Shafer Rohar. Christmas,Contemporary. Score and parts. 77 pages. Nancy Shafer Rohar #3860767. Published by Nancy Shafer Rohar (A0.957971). Piccolo is prominent in this piece that was inspired by the joy and anticipation felt by children on Christmas Eve.  The piece tells the story of children that are trying to stay awake to watch for Santa, and they also can't sleep because it's getting close to Christmas morning.  They start out full of energy and try to sneak down the stairs to peek at packages under the tree.  They run back up to their rooms and look out the window just in time to see the snow start to fall. Just before they nod off they think they DO hear Santa on the roof, and they try again to keep their eyes open but they can't, and they drift off to sleep.  In the final bars you can imagine them dreaming of Santa flying on to the next house, while they are snug and warm in their beds.

Violin Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.545408 Composed by Cindy Blevins. Instructional. 46 pages. Cindy Blevins #5990199. Published by Cindy Blevins (A0.545408). Please note: sometimes the music samples shown on SMP have issues with musical symbols. Your music will look perfect when you download it. The audio sample is an excerpt from No. 7. It was digitally produced. These 10 violin studies are relatively easy and fun to play. They are not just groups of notes put together. They can mostly be played in first position. There are some bowing and fingering indications where needed. Your download includes the violin studies and the piano scores.*If you are purchasing this eBook on Sheet Music Plus, you can visit my website to download the free set of play-along mp3s. Visit blevinsmusic.com and find Violin Studies on the navigation menu. This is Book One of three books of 10 easy, melodic studies. Book One is Item No. S0.839815.   Book Three is Item No. S0.839823.These studies are progressive in nature. Book One is the easiest of the three books, but they are all in the easy category. Each study can be played alone, with an accompanist or with the optional piano play-along tracks. The mp3s were recorded in strict time, for ease of playing along. If you play the pieces alone or with a live accompanist, feel free to give them your own interpretations. These studies help you practice your bowing, your rhythm, your note reading, fingering and scale evenness. Playing with the optional accompaniments helps you hear intonation and gives you experience playing in an ensemble, whether your partner is a live accompanist or just your mp3 player.  There are two mp3s available for each study:  1. A piano play-along track in a slower tempo;  2. The same piano play-along track, but more up-tempo, for when you have learned a piece, or want to challenge yourself. Each study includes a piano cue at the beginning, so you know when to start playing if you’re playing with a play-along track or with a pianist. There are tempo guides on each study. These are for those using the play-along recordings. They match the slower tempo and more up-tempo versions of the play-along recordings. You can ignore these tempo guides if you’re not playing with the mp3s. The studies also include a suggested tempo range. Every study can be played faster or slower than indicated, at the discretion of the player.  My website: www.blevinsmusic.com
