String Ensemble Choir,Electric Bass Guitar,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1105253 By David Kai. By David Kai. Arranged by David Kai. Christian,Contemporary,Pop. Accompaniment. Duration 211. David Kai #708513. Published by David Kai (A0.1105253). This is a backing track for soloist, group or congregation. This new hymn is especially appropriate for Affirming Ministries. The hymn draws on rainbow and rainbow-coloured imagery in the Bible, and the imagery of light which is composed of rainbow colors. The hymn suggests that Affirming Ministries have a badly needed light which they can proudly share with the world. We Are a Rainbow Words and music by David Kai ©2017 Tune: Slocan (see below) We’re the light of all the world, we are a city on a hill, We’re a candle on a stand proclaiming light, We will not hide our lamp beneath a bushel any more, We will shine a ray of hope that’s burning bright. Chorus: We are a rainbow, sign of covenant and peace, For the flood of tears will finally cease to be, Come shine your rainbow, splash your hues across the sky, Paint the world in colours proud and bold and free. We’re a coat of many colours, sewn from many different threads, Covering all in warmth, in welcome and in grace, God said “Let there be lightâ€, created every varied shade, In the rainbow each of us can find a place. Chorus: We are hope to still believe in tomorrow’s better day, We are peace in a world that’s torn apart, We are joy that will last in all the struggles that we face, We are love that blooms and grows in every heart. Chorus: When we face the storms of life, we will never be alone, For our God will be with us on the way, Hand in hand, side by side, we won’t be frightened* any more, As the mourning night of tears breaks into day. Chorus: *alt: clobbered.

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004148 Composed by Matthew Scott Phillips. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 16 pages. Matthew Scott Phillips #3510879. Published by Matthew Scott Phillips (A0.1004148). Throughout the centuries, sundials (a flat plate that marks the time of the day by the shadow of a gnomon which is cast onto it) have been used by civilizations to tell time. Unlike modern clocks and digital watches, in which every single second has its own momentary significance, telling time by sundial is more evolutionary. The seconds, and hours, melt into one another. It is perhaps for this reason that sundials have often been conceived not only as practical time pieces, but as works of art, metaphors, and creations that are inherent expressions of the personality of their creators. Etched in many sundials across the world, in Latin, English, German, and other languages are often found mottoes that reflect the thoughts of the sundial's creator. These mottoes can be fatalistic, humorous, transient, morbid, or serene, and almost always involve the subjects of time, the passing of the hours, life and its brevity, or metaphors involving shadows. Many times these mottoes feature some witticism, such as I only count the sunny hours (since a shadow must be present for a sundial to function). Other times, they can be revealingly existential (We are but shadow), and other times offer advice (Use the hours, don't count them). It is these statements of philosophy, etched in sundials throughout the centuries, that most interests me. I am currently composing a set of movements for piano trio (Piano, Violin, Cello) dedicated to the mottoes found on sundials, and their significance to me. The first movement, subtitled Tempus Edax Rerum (Time devours things) is expansive and attempts a feeling of eternity, into which all seemingly fast moving workings of human beings are inevitably subsumed. For the second movement I am considering the phrase Pereunt et Imputantur (They pass and are counted referring to the hours of the day), and its implication of the way in which time can slip away, whether we observe it or not.

Flute Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.904630 Composed by Various. Arranged by Diana McNulty (ASCAP). Folk,Jazz,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Individual part. 61 pages. Diana McNulty #3008833. Published by Diana McNulty (A0.904630). About this Collection: The music of Québec has been historically rich in cultural diversity, with Celtic and French influences. Québécois composers of the early 1900's were no less inspired by their closest neighbor, the United States. Ragtime emerged at the turn of the 20th century in the U. S. as a popular style of African American dance music, and was an important predecessor to Jazz. During that time, large numbers of African Americans were immigrating north to Canada in search of a better life. With them, they brought music that would be embraced by Canadian composers such as Jean-Baptiste Lafrenière and his contemporaries. For flutists who enjoy expanding their repertoire into a variety of musical styles, this collection of ragtime pieces provides an opportunity to explore a genre that is largely underrepresented this instrument. Ragtime is a quirkly, lively, and entertaining style of music which lends itself well to the character of the flute's voice. Includes 11 pieces, with parts for flute and piano.   Taxi Rag Allonzo, Allons-y! Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,Contra Alto Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.581881 Composed by John Gibson. Contemporary. 90 pages. JB Linear #3012617. Published by JB Linear (A0.581881). Klarifications for Clarinet Choir is a three movement piece for a large clarinet choir.  It is set for Eb Soprano (one player), Bb clarinet 1-2-3, 2 alto clarinets, 2 bass clarinets, and Bb Contra. This would be best in a clarinet choir with at least two on a part in the Bb clarinet section. Here is what Margaret Thornhill wrote about this piece in The Clarinet magazine, June 2017: The dramatic first movement is a dialogue between an eefer (Eb clarinet) and the rest of the ensemble, incorporating paraphrases of excepts from Bach to Bizet.  It is followed by a surprising second movement chorale with slap tongue, flutter tongue and finger popping intended to be individually miked.  The final movement is an exciting montuno, including a section where each person can choose which riffs to play. The 1st movement, Canons Firing From an Ever Rising Staircase, Or, Heed the Effer's Frantic Calls   To explain the title just a bit, the ever rising staircase is an aural trick that, if done precisely, sounds like the music keeps rising without really doing so.  This was derived from what is called a Shepard's Tone. The canons firing are not cannons! The bass instruments play small sections of actual canons (like fancy rounds) written by J S Bach, Mozart, and others. Each time the solo Eb clarinet (the Effer) announces the coming canon firing in a frantic sort of way.  The 2nd movement (Close Encounters with Basses) makes use of a number of unusual sounds on clarinet (or parts thereof) along with a few extended techniques that are fairly easy to play with the clear instructions provided. The altos, basses, and contra should be closely miked to be heard. The 3rd movement (Sometimes Free - A Montuno) starts off with a rich beat in the basses and gradually joined with the rest of the clarinets. In the montuno section there are 4 bar phrases each player can choose from to play during the 32 bars. They may choose what they will, either playing a different variation each time, using the same one each time, or choosing to not play for a particular 4 bar section. This is not a free improvisation, however! This is definitely for an advanced group of players. The 1st movement is also available separately. The sample recording uses Finale software in the 1st and 3rd movement, and John Gibson's recording of the 2nd movement.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024939 Composed by Abigail Gilson. Contemporary. Score and parts. 6 pages. Abigail Gilson #3631511. Published by Abigail Gilson (A0.1024939). Finding the Star is a slow-moving piece that draws out the idea of time being slowed down when one is lost. The theme of this piece is the idea of being lost at sea. The slow ground bass starts, the churning of the dark waves against the side of the ship. The sky and sea are the same type of dark, not a star or light can be seen anywhere above or below. On deck the crew wait for an order, though they are scared, there’s nothing they can do. They cannot make the star appear, and they cannot give direction without certainty that they’re going in the right direction. The waves turn and grow and often push the ship around, making everyone nervous, if they completely get turned they could get lost. The voices of the instruments trade places and come in and out of each other. Dancing around each other making a beautiful eerie melody. At the very end of the piece, the star is found. The clouds move and the moons bright light shines down on the weary travelers and they find hope again.

English Horn,Oboe,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1426549 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Kamada, Mikio. Baroque. 5 pages. ACORDO Sheet Music #1007249. Published by ACORDO Sheet Music (A0.1426549). Johann Sebastian Bach composed the cantata Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis BWV 21 during the Weimar period. Craig Smith of Emmanuel Music suggested that this work was not only written to accompany the readings for the third Sunday after Trinity, but also to bid farewell to the gravely ill Prince Johann Ernst of Sachsen-Weimar, one of Bach's talented students. However, at the time, Prince Johann was seriously ill and was on his way to Swabia for recovery. The first movement, Sinfonia, is a deeply sorrowful piece, characterized by a rich dialogue between the oboe and violin. Julian Mincham of The Cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach described it is a continuous discourse between oboe and first violin, quite possibly suggestive of the dialogue structure (Christ and the Soul) to be found in later movements, however, it sounds like a dialogue between the Prince and Bach for me.The string ensemble part was transcribed for piano to make it easier to play. The solo parts are originally for oboe and violin, but in this arrangement, they are for Oboe and Cor Anglais.  The bassoon (or cello) part is the same as the piano's left hand and is optional.
