Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308788 Composed by Charles Tenet. Arranged by Tobi Crawford. Jazz. 11 pages. Tobi Crawford #898034. Published by Tobi Crawford (A0.1308788). *Purchase 10 copies to perform this piece with your ensemble of any size*Purchase the instrumental pack (bass and drum part) here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/product/beyond-the-sea-instrumental-pack-only-22605052.htmlThis arrangement came to me over a number of weeks in a very organic way that began with the ostinato piano figure that prevails throughout the piece. I began playing it unattached to any tune and I just liked the way the line descended in the left hand and how I had to find voicings in the right hand that made harmonic sense – like a puzzle. As I was playing around with this puzzle, thoughts of my father were swirling around in my head – I was at the end of a 4 year period of separation from my parents owing to the fact that I’m a Canadian expat living in the US and the borders were closed for a long time because of Covid, and then I had work visa issues and my parents were getting older before my eyes. They were also losing friends to cancer and other ailments and my dad, in particular, had experienced the loss of many close family members and friends during our separation and it was taking a toll. One day I sat down and played the now familiar-to-me ostinato but randomly I started to sing “Beyond the Sea” over it and it fit perfectly. I thought it a happy coincidence. As the days went on I committed to putting my ostinato with Beyond the Sea and the lyrics started to seep into my brain. I have, of course, heard these lyrics many times before, (who hasn’t seen Finding Nemo?) but the lyrics didn’t mean what I thought they meant
They’re NOT about the ocean, they are about my dad!!! Well, kind of
I realized, through careful reflection and by slowing the words down, that the lyrics are talking about a person in heaven who is patiently waiting for their partner to join them. Somewhere beyond the seaShe’s there watching for me
It’s far beyond the starsIt’s near beyond the moon And the lyrics end with them meeting, “We’ll meet beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just like before,” and the song ends with: “and never again I’ll go sailing.” It’s like the big bang went off in my head about why all these thoughts of my dad, and his friends, and this arrangement, and what it all meant suddenly just MADE SENSE and I was able to start formulating a plan. Performance Suggestions: The improvisation solo in the middle should be free of any traditional “scat syllables” and should be more of a lament. Listen to singers like Aubrey Johnson improvise on ballads for inspiration. An idea for that improv section might be to have a male singer start the improv, then a female singer joins (as if together in heaven) then they sing letter F together (warning: will cause tears
). All solo sections do not have to be sung as written – soloists can take liberties with the melody as the spirit moves.

Violin Duet Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596615 By John Winstead and Miguel Angel Cotignola. By Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Celtic,Instructional,Irish. 5 pages. Juan Maria Solare #6208589. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596615). Highlands for two violins About the genesis of my work Highlands: There was a composition competition in Scotland (The Gordon Stewart Memorial Competition), they asked to write a short march for Scottish bagpipes. I said to myself: I don't know anything about the bagpipes, this could be an opportunity to get to know the instrument better. So I began to investigate and discovered that there is a huge literature, many works. Of course: all the works are impressively similar, because it is a relatively limited instrument (with forgiveness of the pipers). But this is an unimportant detail for our story. So, with a collection of bagpipe sheet music at hand, I began to investigate the possibilities of the instrument. And I made a huge mistake: Bagpipe scores are written without accidentals, but they are actually in A major. Sharps are not written simply because there is NO alternative. They can't play anything else (at least the traditional bagpipes), so the sheet music ommits the superfluous sharps. In short: then I composed my melody for that contest in A minor ... which is impossible to play on bagpipes. The fact of having written the melody on board a train prevented me from listening to dozens of works for bagpipes as a reference (at that time - June 2015 - I did not have a mobile internet connection). When I realized the mistake (in time) I rewrote that melody in major mode (well, Mixolydian ...), added some typical bagpipe ornamentation and retitled it: Ballone Castle (the name of the castle of the organizers of the contest, the Stewart Society). And now what do I do with the original melody, in minor mode? Instead of throwing it away (which I never do) I titled it Highlands, and it is the work that you are about to hear, or whose score you are holding. I didn't win that contest in Scotland. But I recorded Ballone Castle and posted it on Spotify: Ballone Castle (for bagpipes) - on Spotify (there is a version with drums and another without them). As for Highlands, the saxophone version was recorded by my Chinese friend Yu Han for the album Images of Elsewhere (Images of Elsewhere (saxophone)). In this case, there are also two versions: solo saxophone and sax with electronic sounds. The electronic sounds here actually simulate the typical bagpipe pedal (drone) note. A version of Highands for oboe Solo was recorded by John Winstead (Highlands (oboe solo)) Comparing both pieces (Highlands and Ballone Castle) it is verified how the simple change of mode (major / minor), in addition to the change of instrument, can work wonders for musical perception. They are two related but independent works, each with its own defined character - like two twins. But the story continues. In October 2020 I began an intense dialogue with the violinist Miguel Ángel Cotignola, from Mendoza (Argentina). I suggested him to film Highlands. He suggestd me to write a second violin part. I did it. He filmed it on the shore of Lake Potrerillos, in Mendoza (Argentina). This video can be seen here: Highlands (for two violins)Juan María Solare

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1012606 Composed by Michelle Kraak. Easter,Praise & Worship,Sacred. 16 pages. Michelle Kraak #6102931. Published by Michelle Kraak (A0.1012606). The Betrayal is written for choir (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). It is a religious piece based on the passion of Christ. It has aspects of imitation, with a lot of independence in the parts. The vocal parts represent the voice of Jesus, the voices of those who crucified him, a narrator, and also briefly the voice of Peter, Jesus' disciple. The bass primarily sings the role of the people who called for his death, but as the piece continues others join in this role. I wrote some of the lyrics and also pulled some verses in from the Bible. I think this would be a great piece for Holy Week, perhaps on Good Friday or Maundy Thursday. the piece captures some of the intense emotions involved in the crucifixion and would make a great addition to Lenten music in the church. Lyrics:Why did you leave me?Why did you run?I absolved you of your sin. Jesus Christ must die for what he's done. I absolved you of your sin,I saved you from yourselves,I just wanted to lead you,Closer to God. Death! I wanted to give you new life. Three times you will deny me, Woman I do not know him! Jesus Christ must die for what he's done. Why did you leave me? Why did you run?I absolved you of your sin.I saved you from yourselves,I just wanted to lead you, Closer to God. Jesus I didn't know him.I don't know the man! Jesus Christ must die for what he's done. Peter struck him!Cut off his ear,Jesus touched him and healed him,Though the man had come for him. Jesus Christ must die for what he's done. Why should Jesus die for what he's done? Why did I forsake the Son of God?I'd have called for him to be crucified. We are no better,Then the past. Why did you forsake me,Why did you forsake me? Forgive them,For they do not know what they're doing. Forgive them,For they do not know what they're doing. Betrayed with a kiss. Surely he was the son of God.Surely he was the son of God.Surely he was the son of God.4 minutes 29 seconds6 minutes 29 secondsashevilletrumpet.comhttps://www.facebook.com/kraakmichellehttps://www.instagram.com/kraakmichelle/https://www.linkedin.com/in/michelle-kraak-71b0258a/

Published by OllysPianoSheets (A0.961544). All At Sea is a classical piano ballad in the key of D minor for beginner level pianists at the grade 1 (ABRSM) standard. The phrase All at sea harks from back in the times when sailing ships didn't have navigation aids. So if they were at sea and land was not visible, then they could quite easily get lost and find themselves in dangerous waters...All at Sea expresses the uncertainty and worry that sailors might have had when they lost sight of land. Of course, these days we have satellite navigation, radar and other neat gadgets, which make navigating the seas much easier. However, sometimes life can still be uncertain, so here is a piano piece which could also express those days when we feel like we've 'lost sight of the land'.All at Sea will suit pianists of about grade 1-2 (ABRSM) standard and should be played with feeling and reflection, taking special care of the dynamics as they rise and fall with the melody.Explore more fun piano sheet music by Olly Wedgwood at OllysPianoSheets.com

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023975 By Peabo Bryson And Regina Belle. By Alan Menken. Arranged by Odd Helge Hveding. Film/TV. Score and parts. 27 pages. Oh2Musikk #3056155. Published by oh2Musikk (A0.1023975). How can your trombone quartet gain more audience? By playing with other people. You want your concerts to be well visited and to help you with that, I make arrangements (and compositions) for trombonequartet with guitar, piano, bass and drums. They also contain an optional bass-trombone/ tuba part and sometimes a solo part. This one contains a trombone solo part. This arrangement of A Whole New World, is scored for Solo Trombone in front of the ensemble mentioned above.  There are two solo parts in the set. One high and and one low. You can combine those two if that makes you more comfortable. Durata: 3,5 minutes (approx.) The song itself is about Alladin taking Jasmine on a ride on the magic carpet. The lyrics are all about discovering what you didn’t know about and be grateful for all the adventures life gives. This makes it a perfect piece to play in a variety of places, like weddings, celebrations of any kind, graduations, not to mention many types of concerts. With a few adjustments you can also use parts of this arrangement and make it work. It’s most powerful when you use the whole band, but it still makes a lot of sense if you have to skip some of the parts. There are so many times I have had to skip a piece in a concert, using a not as good substitute, because we didn’t have the people to play it. In this series I have made it easier to still be able to play it, even if you don’t manage to cover every part. Check it out and you’ll understand. Do you want to know more about me and my music? Published by Shelton Ridge Love (A0.779366). I am not a stranger to the dark.Hide away, they say, ’cause we don’t want your broken parts. I grew up in a very conservative, religious environment. My family, churches, and the Christian schools I attended always taught me that being gay was a sin. I hid that part of myself from everyone and fought so hard to make it go away. I didn’t want God to hate me. I didn’t want my sin to isolate me from my family or send me to hell. When the sharpest words wanna cut me down,I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out.I am brave; I am bruised; I am who I’m meant to be.This is me. It took a long time for me to make the words of this song my own. Coming out was a long and often difficult process. But the day that same-sex marriage was legalized in South Carolina, I finally decided to come out publically on social media. I thought about that moment when I first heard this song-the moment that I was able to unashamedly tell the world: THIS IS ME!  - Shelton

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533319 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2343097. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533319). This charming piano solo was first performed by its dedicatee, Jacques Leguerney’s good friend and muse ThĂ©rĂšse Cahen (1897-1944), in the Salle Debussy-Pleyel. They met around 1925. Cahen was the first person outside of his family to encourage his musical aspirations. For years, they met every Saturday to read through and discuss his music. She not only helped him with piano and harmony, but also performed his early chamber works, recruiting from her entourage to help him find high level interpreters for his music. Other early Leguerney works that she premiered included the Trio pour violon, violoncello et piano; the Sonatine pour flĂ»te et piano; and two vocal chamber works presented by the SociĂ©tĂ© Musicale IndĂ©pendente (S. M. I.), Epitaphe guerriĂšre and Clair de lune for voice, flute and piano. Their friendship lasted until Cahen was deported from Paris on July 31, 1944, only a few weeks prior to the Liberation of Paris. Working with the Center of the Union GĂ©nĂ©rale des IsraĂ©lites de France in Saint-MandĂ© (a Parisian suburb), ThĂ©rĂšse Cahen had dedicated herself to the care of children of deported French parents. She left Paris with these children in the Convoy 77, and was taken to the gas chamber of Auschwitz. She left a letter for him, along with her grand piano, which remained in his apartment until his death. My dear Jacques,It is impossible to write on this little page how much I have appreciated your kindness toward me for years and years, and how much happiness this has given me: there have been thousands of Saturdays, and I thought of them every day of the week. Probably you didn’t realize the influence you have had on me: it seems that my whole personality, my way of thinking and feeling has been transformed by you; it is a very deep imprint. If I am taken and in consequence you read this letter, tell yourself that I will continue to count the Saturdays in order to have an idea of the number of songs composed during my absence and that I will be delighted to hear them when I return. If I don’t return, I definitely want you to keep my piano but I don’t think it will happen and I say that I will see you soon.Very tenderly,ThĂ©rĂšsePS Speaking of tenderness, I think with emotion about the little passage concerning tenderness in your latest song.[La Fontaine d’HĂ©lĂšne]

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1177383 By Frederic Chopin. By Frédéric Chopin. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. 19th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Romantic Period. Guitar Tab. 6 pages. Brian Streckfus #776814. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1177383). Key: Changed from B minor to A minorCapo: 2 (If you want original key, but I wasn't a fan of capo 2; it felt like there was no bass notes.)1. Arranged for guitar. 2. Piano pedal markings removed 3. Phrase markings removed and opted for commas. 4. Re-harmonized 5. Key changed from B minor to A minor. 6. Slurs 7. Left hand fingers 8. Tablature9. Harmonics added when advantageous, but playing the regular note would work as well.10. Piano pedal markings removed and replaced with commas. It's a flaw of sheet music that slurs, ties, and phrase markings are all the same symbol, and having all three happening can clutter a score.Compromises This may sound obvious, but of course I had to make some alterations to make this flow properly on guitar. Many of the original chord inversions on the piano were not kept. However, many harmonies were kept intact as far as following the chord nomenclature name. Measure 50 was originally an A minor chord, the irony is that the F major suprise is an homage to Chopin anyways, suprised he didn't opt for it. To be honest, I don't like how there is a perfect authentic cadence in measure 50. I think modern audiences would want to clap too badly, so I believe that ending needs to be slightly messed up to propel the music forward, and give a sense that there is still a problem. The other chord that was changed was an E7b9 to a Ddim7 in measure 78. If you know your theory well, you'll realize these chords have the same exact function and nearly the same notes, it's just that Ddim7 flowed a bit better on guitar. I'd rather have guitarists play the rhythms correctly and with musicality, than have guitarist clunkily go though overly large chords in order to mantain historical accuracy.  Measure 15 was hard to keep the original chord intact. A Bb/D with a G in the melody as a suspension sounds more like a g minor chord. That is cliche Chopinesque neopolitan moment so the Bb is crucial to mantain. Having some rough sort of Bbmaj7 or G minor chord while mantaining the melody seemed to sound the best even though the name of the chord might have gotten a little off. I tried chord charts, but they seemed messier than what it was worth. I also could have the denser tablature in the sheet music, but that does make it look 10x more intimidating. So this version is unique in that the tablature is my denser arrangement, whereas the sheet music would allow someone to quickly make a new arrangement. I like this ethos because most guitarists are likely to be much better at playing chord quickly when they don't have to have an exact voicing. This makes this arrangement easier to further perfect since I am naming the harmonies, which often isn't done in classical music.BackstoryThis is one of my favorite pieces, and also my favorite composer. I feel classical guitar repertoire is lacking easily playable music in the romantic style. Often, if it is romantic guitar music, it is extemely difficult and therefore only a select few can enjoy performing it. Also, I sometimes get my hopes up to find a romantic guitar composer, but then after listening, there's nothing quite like Chopin. Obviously, you will have to have some chops to play this since it's one of the most ambitious undertakings a guitarist could take, but it's also not so hard that you have to be train for a decade because I changed the key.

This next part is copy and pasted from my blog: My inspiration for The pianist's Wind Chimes came mainly from Philip Glass. The Philip Glass Etudes are kind of short, but I've been listening to them recently. They are somewhat profound even though they are brief and not that advanced. Of course a piece does not have to be long or hard to be profound. The Minimalist style is a great way for beginner and intermediate piano students to sound excellent at piano recitals. I usually don't think about the title of a piece first. The title came to me as I was working on it. Funnily enough, the title might be the worst part of this piece. I only used the name The Pianist's Wind Chimes because I thought it was a cool name (ha ha ha!). In the middle of The Pianist's Wind Chimes, there is a reference to Beethoven's Fur Elise. The famous first two measures of Fur Elise were part of my inspiration. The notes are sort of different. I didn't want to copy Fur Elise completely. But I did want to make the reference obvious enough. I do wander how many people will recognize the reference. I hope most of them will.
