Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043121 By Barry Manilow. By Bruce Johnston. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Pop. Score and parts. 57 pages. Kevin Riley #647831. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1043121). I Write the Songs is a popular song written by Bruce Johnston in 1975 and released on his album Going Public in 1977. Barry Manilow's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976 after spending two weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December 1975. It won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for Record of the Year in 1977. Billboard ranked it as the No. 13 song of 1976. The original version was recorded by Captain & Tennille, who worked with Johnston in the early 1970s with the Beach Boys. It appears on their 1975 album Love Will Keep Us Together. The first release of I Write the Songs as a single was by teen idol David Cassidy from his 1975 solo album The Higher They Climb, which was also produced by Johnston. Cassidy's version reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in August of that year. Johnston has stated that, for him, the I in the song is God, and that songs come from the spirit of creativity in everyone. He has said that the song is not about his Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson. Manilow was initially reluctant to record the song, stating in his autobiography Sweet Life: The problem with the song was that if you didn't listen carefully to the lyric, you would think that the singer was singing about himself. It could be misinterpreted as a monumental ego trip.[3] After persuasion by Clive Davis, then president of Arista Records, Manilow recorded the song, and his version of I Write the Songs was the first single taken from the album Tryin' to Get the Feeling. It first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 15, 1975, reaching the top of the chart nine weeks later, on January 17, 1976. Cash Box said of Manilow's version Good work Barry describing the song as melodic, ballad-like beginning grows into an operatic crescendo, all done in clear production that all age groups will appreciate.

Instrumental Duet E-Flat Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.578953 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,World. Score and parts. 8 pages. David Warin Solomons #2063473. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.578953). Journeymen (young craftsmen) in Germany used to be required by law to go from town to town to practise their skills rather than stay in one town, which gave rise to many songs, of which Es es es und es is the best known - (the words of that song mean it is a hard conclusion but I have to leave this town). These journeys were referred to as Walz so these workers went auf der Walz. The idea of travelling auf der Walz was also taken up in Australia (where they called it on the Waltz or on the Wallaby) and it gave rise to the famous song Waltzing Matilda, although in the Ozzie song the traveller was a swagman rather than a craftsman. So I have called this arrangement On the Wallaby. In neither case was the 3/4 time of the Waltz used although there is probably a connection: I initially tried to create this merged arrangement in 3/4 but it didn't seem to work satisfactorily... So here is a 4/4 waltz based on the two traditional and related songs. The pdf file contains score and parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview.

Brass Quintet Baritone Horn TC,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1414066 By Will Corbin. By Edwin Eugene Bagley. Arranged by Will Corbin. March. 10 pages. Will Corbin #995836. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1414066). So the legend goes: Edward Eugene Bagley is on a train, touring with his family band from some Vermont backwater, when he composed National Emblem. He didn't like the ending he wrote, so he trashed the score. Someone in his band rescued it from the trash can. The rest of the band repaired to the baggage car (surely beer was involved in this activity) and secretly rehearsed the new march. They performed it at the band's next concert. It became the most famous (as in, the only one you've ever heard of) of Bagley's compositions and one of the most recognizable American marches. John Phillip Sousa ranked it among the top four in that category, surrounding it, of course, with his own marches. Its trio is regularly played at colors ceremonies. It even pops up in the TubaChristmas version of Jingle Bells. He sold the rights to the arrangement for $25.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1038630 By Kathi Kerr. By Kathi Kerr. Arranged by Kathi Kerr. Baroque,Classical. Score. 3 pages. Melody Music Publishers #643613. Published by Melody Music Publishers (A0.1038630). This piano solo for the early advanced student is in the classical style where the clavichord and harpsichord were the keyboard instruments of the day. They were delicate and didn't have a lot of dynamic range. Some had a two keyboard layer with each having a different volume, hence there are only two dynamics in the song to be true to the era. If you have a keyboard with a harpsichord setting, it's fun to use. Be careful to watch fingering and no pedal throughout.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845966 By The Commodores. By Lionel Richie. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Contemporary,Hip-Hop,Pop,R & B,Rock. Score and parts. 21 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #4967807. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845966). Finally, the slow-dance number that your gig book has been missing for all these years! Dim the lights, pop a fresh bottle of bubbly, and melt your audience's troubles away with this jazzy rendition of one of the quintessential crooner, Lionel Richie's, most magnificent masterworks.A few tasteful reharminizations and backbeat chopping rhythms give this arrangement a groove that you can really lay back into. Feel free to repeat the solo section and throw down your best improv, or just let the Commodores' original signature solo set the Sunday morning scene; the guitar solo is printed in the parts. Did I mention I added a key change at the end? Oh no he didn't... OH YES I DID! You can almost feel the sunshine streaming down upon your face, folks. Chill. Vibes. For. Days. Thanks to the power of chopping and pizzicato bass lines, this arrangement can stand alone with absolutely no need for additional rhythm instruments. However, in the interest of inclusion, I have attached a rhythm section lead sheet so that all of your friends, whether they have bows, picks, or sticks, can join in on the fun.Prove your worth as an ensemble by tastefully caressing your listeners' ears with this sultry soliloquy; a reminder that the space between the notes can be the most important part of a captivating performance. If you love this arrangement, try upping the ante even more by pairing it with my arrangement of Brick House for an epic Commodores medley that's a surefire bet to wow the crowd! The optional transition is included in the parts.Brick House available at: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/brick-house-jazz-string-quartet-digital-sheet-music/21498631?ac....Performance time: 3 minutes. Instrumental Solo,Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.983172 Composed by Craig Wadley. 21st Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Halloween. Individual part. 18 pages. Wadley Publications #4638491. Published by Wadley Publications (A0.983172). Nevermore for Unaccompanied Saxophone by Craig Wadley. As this is an unaccompanied piece, ANY saxophone is acceptable. While most soloists will undoubtedly opt to use alto or soprano, the composer welcomes renditions of this piece on any of the larger saxes as well. This piece was inspired by Nevermore: An Evening With Edgar Allen Poe, a single act play featuring Jeffrey Combs. My good friend, Dr. Brent Bristow of Arkansas State University, Beebe, convinced me to go see the play when it was presented there in March of 2018. That performance by the legendary Mr. Combs inspired this piece. Why unaccompanied saxophone? Brent Bristow and I have been close friends since high school, and since he is the one who convinced me to see this show, and given that he plays classical saxophone (yes, that IS a thing!), I figured saxophone would kill two birds with one reed… or something like that. The show itself is a one-man performance, so that’s why this piece is unaccompanied. I toyed with the notion of including some text from the show. Eventually, I decided to go with The Raven, which is featured prominently in Combs’ monologue. But I didn’t want to RELY on The Raven, so I wrote the piece in such a way that it can be performed with OR without the narrator. I took a bit of inspiration from Bach’s cello music and brought in some more modern elements such as shifting meters and limited use of slap-tongue and multiphonics to keep things interesting. No altissimo is used. This work would make for excellent solo repertoire at the collegiate level, while still being potentially accessible to advanced high school players. If the narrator is used, this work would also be great as part of a Halloween/horror variety show! You may note that the mp3 demo preview uses a cello sound (placing the transposition in the range of the baritone sax, though again, any saxophone is acceptable). A cello sound is used because samples of saxophone sounds generally leave much to be desired, and they are most commonly based on jazz tone qualities which would be completely inappropriate for this piece.
