It's not always easy to transform this kind of music into an idiom that sounds good as instrumental chamber music, however, this is part of my quest to develop a broad range of popular music that I can play live with a small group on the instrument I love - the horn.This is great for university students and professionals. There are not a lot of great, challenging horn quartet arrangements out there, like this one is. Depending on which part you play, this one may require a solid high range and/or low one (although some alternate notes are suggested for those who wish to avoid the extremes). This arrangement helps fill a niche for small ensemble in that horn quartet music typically lacks repertoire in most contemporary and rock genres. I've tried to have the melody move around a bit so it's fun and interesting for everyone. Score, parts and cover arts included. St. Matthew Blue contains unusual harmonies inspired by J. S. Bach’s opening chorus to the St. Matthew Passion. This tune doesn't match the profundity and appeal of Bach's chorus, but the two 16-bar themes of St. Matthew Blue contain some of my favorite harmonic ideas from Bach’s work. This gives a depth to this piece that sets it apart from other swing tunes. Here are the lyrics to St. Matthew Blue:An evil little bug has got me down.I want to drink a mug of beer in town. But now I get supplies brought to my door From many tries to find an online store.   Self-pity brings to mind St. Matthew’s tale, How Jesus saved our kind from fiery hell. It was originally recorded as a big band/swing tune by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra and featured in the 1941 movie Sun Valley Serenade. It was the first song to receive a gold record, presented by RCA Victor in 1942, for sales of 1.2 million copies.The song opens up with the band, sounding like a train rolling out of the station, complete with the trumpets and trombones imitating a train whistle, before the instrumental portion comes in playing two parts of the main melody. This is followed by the vocal introduction of four lines before the main part of the song is heard.The main song opens with a dialog between a passenger and a shoeshine boy:Pardon me, boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?Yes, yes, Track 29!Boy, you can give me a shine.Can you afford to board the Chattanooga Choo Choo?I've got my fare, and just a trifle to spare.The singer describes the train's route, originating from Pennsylvania Station in New York and running through Baltimore to North Carolina before reaching Chattanooga. He mentions a woman he knew from an earlier time in his life, who will be waiting for him at the station and with whom he plans to settle down for good. After the entire song is sung, the band plays two parts of the main melody as an instrumental, with the instruments imitating the WHOO WHOO of the train as the song ends.Here's my representation thereof with Sam Harrill's nifty percussion score supporting it.

De Dionísio para Koré is a theatrical adaptation of the poetry book of the same name, which reveals the uncontrolled love of the god Dionísio for the mortal Koré. They constantly change roles, in a cycle of death and rebirth. I wrote this soundtrack in a simple way. Some actors in the cast played some instrument in a beginner way, so I wrote a simple track inspired by ancient Greek music so that everyone could act and play the soundtrack with me live. In the instrumental formation we have guitar, flute, clarinet, cello and drums. This is piece 3 of 6 that integrates the soundtrack. The writing of the drums must be followed rhythmically as it is written, however the pitches of the notes can vary. The most important thing is that the drums are played according to the relative height (High, medium and low). The songs are excellent for a group of beginning students to play together and practice chamber music, being a repertoire of easy execution and very impressive sonority. Good studies!
