Alto Voice,Bass Voice,Cello,Choir,Flute,Piano Accompaniment,Soprano voice,Tenor Voice,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317730 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by Connie Boss. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Religious,Sacred. 19 pages. Connie Boss #906411. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1317730). This version of Ave Maria has the same beautiful melody as the original. The lyrics, while maintaining the well-known Ave Maria words, also have some English translation along with Christmas Lyrics. It talks about the angel giving Mary the message from God that she will bear his son and needs to journey to Bethlehem. The melody is for a soloist if desired and then SATB quartet or choir parts that give beautiful harmonies off and on throughout the song. There is a very pretty  optional instrument part that can be played on flute, violin or cello - parts included. It's worth a listen. Any requests or questions, email cdboss@cvalley.net. For an accompaniment, please email me with proof of purchase. Lyrics:Ave Maria, I am an angel sent from GodMaria, here is God’s messageMaria, you will bear God’s sonAve, Ave, Hail to the LordThe Lord is with theeBlessed are you among womenFor you were born without sinAnd blessed be the fruit of thy wombOf thy womb Jesus ChristAve Maria….. Ave Maria, mother of GodMaria, do not be afraidMaria, God has chosen youAve, Ave Maria, the time has comeYou will make a journey to BethlehemWhere you will deliver God’s own sonAnd you will name your son JesusYour son will save the world from sinAve, Maria……….

Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1288214 Composed by Chris Becker. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Individual part. 6 pages. Beckeresque (ASCAP) #879245. Published by Beckeresque (ASCAP) (A0.1288214). When I first saw the enormous chair Rachel Gardner and Carlos Canul constructed for A Gift from the Bower, an outdoor, multi-disciplinary group exhibition conceived by renowned artists James Surls and Charmaine Locke, I had a vision of a cellist seated in a chair on the chair, performing solo in a bower deep in the woods of Splendora Gardens. I shared this image with Rachel, who didn’t think I was nuts, and over the course of several weeks, composed a piece for unaccompanied cello to be performed at the opening of the exhibit. I was honored when cellist Patrick Moore agreed to premiere the work; his formidable technique and the deep expression he brings to his playing inspired me to embrace the challenge of composing a solo for his instrument.Knowing my piece would be performed outdoors, I was inspired to evoke the rhythm of sound events one hears in woods, especially the rise and fall of wind as it moves through branches and leaves. The very opening of the piece and later, what I hear as an extended coda, were created as moments for the cellist as much as for the listener and are performed in a sort of meditative state, calling to mind the age-old question, “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?†The repeating measures of 16th notes in the piece’s demanding middle section pay tribute to two of my heroes, Terry Riley and Philip Glass. While composing the work, Bach’s Six Suites for Violoncello Solo was another important point of reference, as was double bassist Eberhard Weber's 1973 album, The Colours of Chloë.Once finished, it made sense to name the piece A Gift from the Bower since the opportunity to compose the work was a gift, and in exchange, so is the music I have composed.A Gift from the Bower premiered on April 22, 2023, by Patrick Moore at the Locke Surls Center for Art and Nature.A revised version of this piece was completed on September 5, 2023.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.943859 Composed by Jonah Koppitz. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 1 pages. Jonah Koppitz #5748861. Published by Jonah Koppitz (A0.943859). The first thing that you should know about this piece is that it breaks nearly every rule of counterpoint that it can. To me, this composition represents the antithesis of how classical composers thought to compose. By directly contradicting the rules they follow and still creating music, it shows that stiff rule formats and limits on what makes good music are not necessary and oftentimes restrict creative composing. My only hope is that, if Johann Joseph Fux were alive today, he’d see my work as an abomination of all the rules he holds so dear.My Ruleset:1. In sixth species counterpoint (countercounterpoint/anticounterpoint), you may write as many notes as desired in your new melody for each note in the cantus firmus.2. The first note and the last note must not form either an octave, unison, or a fifth with the cantus firmus.3. The penultimate note of your melody should not be an even scale degree.4. Augmented Fourths must resolve down and Diminished Fifths must resolve up.5. You may use parallel motion very recklessly because it obscures the independence of the voices.6. The harmonic interval formed between the voices on the downbeat of every measure may not be a perfect/major consonance-unison, third, fifth, sixth or octave. Diminished, Augmented, and Minor are fine.7. The interval formed between the voices on the second beat of every measure may not be a major third or major sixth.8. The overall shape of your melody should have a single high-point, preferably as far from the middle as is reasonable.9. Except for on the first beat of a measure, Consonant intervals are only allowed if preceded by a dissonant interval on a strong beat.10. Every Chord is fair game.11. The interval between the first beat of each measure should alternate between even numbers and odd numbers.12. Leaps must prepare, leap, and resolve in the same direction and may be greater than a fifth.13. Functional Harmony is for cowards who let chords tell them what to do.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1032610 Composed by Norman Mathews. Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show. Score. 83 pages. Eburn Press #5026519. Published by Eburn Press (A0.1032610). This collection of ballads (six instrumental and ten vocal) was composed over a period of thirty years. I place these works together because the ballad is my favorite genre of song. All the songs are presented in lead-sheet format. The vocal pieces, however, are in addition given in their original arrangements. Some of these songs in the arranged form are not truly jazz inflected. I believe, though, that an inventive pianist may give them a jazz feel using the lead-sheets as blueprints. With some of the vocal works, I have transposed them up in order to make them more comfortable on the keyboard. The arrangements remain in their original keys. The vocal pieces are from either my Dorothy Parker musical, You Might as Well Live (which has been performed by Tony-Award-Winner Michele Pawk and Broadway star Karen Mason) or from a cabaret revue, entitled Somebody Write Me a Song (which has been performed by Tony-Award-Winner Debbie Gravitte and Tony-Nominee Liz Callaway). The vocal pieces are suitable for cabaret performances or audition purposes. The instrumental pieces are designed for jazz performers. The first piece, Anders' Theme, was originally written for sax. The recording of this can be heard on ht e AudioClip. I am an ASCAP composer.
