Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.996121 Composed by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. Arranged by Erik Cole. Romantic Period. 33 pages. Erik Cole #4793067. Published by Erik Cole (A0.996121). This is a transcription of the complete Pictures at an Exhibition for double reed choir. It is all in the original keys and based on the well-known Ravel orchestration, which is quite difficult. As a result, this arrangement is even more challenging. It is designed with at least 2 players per part in mind, and all of the oboe and bassoon parts are divisi throughout. The attached MP3 recordings are multi-track recordings of me playing all the parts. This was, by far, the most daunting recording I have put together for any of my arrangements, and I apologize for any minor imperfections in timing or pitch. In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. Faced with trying to recreate the uniqueness of Ravel’s use of the solo Alto Saxophone, I decided to give that part to a solo Oboe d’Amore. It’s quite distinct, and conveniently just exactly fits into the range of the instrument. Many groups won’t have access to a d’amore, though, so I have included an alternate part for English Horn. Using it does make this the only movement that requires 2 English Horns, however. This is also the movement where I discovered that the cheap recording equipment I’m using currently doesn’t like long sustained tones, and there are a lot of them in this movement. For whatever reason, there’s a lot of distortion on them in the MP3, and I apologize for not being able to figure out how to correct that.

Small Ensemble Flute,Harp,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987749 Composed by Dana Taylor. Contemporary. Score and parts. 20 pages. Dana Taylor Music #3053973. Published by Dana Taylor Music (A0.987749). This is the third of three movements: Dance, Tango and Minuet and Duo. They are each about 2 and a half minutes long.So they would make a very enjoyable interlude in your concert, or a challenging and rewarding project for an unusual trio. They are intended for advanced high school or college level musicians, or the equivalent community orchestra members. The Minuet is a classical waltz. The Duo refers to a trio minus one instrument.. (The mp3 uses viola. I have an mp3 with violin. Ask me at Dana@danataylormusic.com) Check out my other works here at SMP, and my website, DanaTaylorMusic.com.Performance Notes:1. Choose either violin or viola, but not both. The piece was written for Flute, Violin and Harp players. However, they didn't play it and I like thelower viola voice better anyway. So take your choice. But remember, Balance Is Everything.2. All three movements are dances. They should sound like it.Even better, they should be played for dancers.(Let me know if you have balanced one or more dancers with three musicians on the same stage.I would love to see a video.)2017 Chamber Music Contest Entry - Original

Instrumental Solo,Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.983172 Composed by Craig Wadley. 21st Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Halloween. Individual part. 18 pages. Wadley Publications #4638491. Published by Wadley Publications (A0.983172). Nevermore for Unaccompanied Saxophone by Craig Wadley. As this is an unaccompanied piece, ANY saxophone is acceptable. While most soloists will undoubtedly opt to use alto or soprano, the composer welcomes renditions of this piece on any of the larger saxes as well. This piece was inspired by Nevermore: An Evening With Edgar Allen Poe, a single act play featuring Jeffrey Combs. My good friend, Dr. Brent Bristow of Arkansas State University, Beebe, convinced me to go see the play when it was presented there in March of 2018. That performance by the legendary Mr. Combs inspired this piece. Why unaccompanied saxophone? Brent Bristow and I have been close friends since high school, and since he is the one who convinced me to see this show, and given that he plays classical saxophone (yes, that IS a thing!), I figured saxophone would kill two birds with one reed… or something like that. The show itself is a one-man performance, so that’s why this piece is unaccompanied. I toyed with the notion of including some text from the show. Eventually, I decided to go with The Raven, which is featured prominently in Combs’ monologue. But I didn’t want to RELY on The Raven, so I wrote the piece in such a way that it can be performed with OR without the narrator. I took a bit of inspiration from Bach’s cello music and brought in some more modern elements such as shifting meters and limited use of slap-tongue and multiphonics to keep things interesting. No altissimo is used. This work would make for excellent solo repertoire at the collegiate level, while still being potentially accessible to advanced high school players. If the narrator is used, this work would also be great as part of a Halloween/horror variety show! You may note that the mp3 demo preview uses a cello sound (placing the transposition in the range of the baritone sax, though again, any saxophone is acceptable). A cello sound is used because samples of saxophone sounds generally leave much to be desired, and they are most commonly based on jazz tone qualities which would be completely inappropriate for this piece.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1458588 Composed by Charles Austin Miles. Arranged by KATHLEEN HOLYOAK. Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Kathleen Holyoak #1037515. Published by Kathleen Holyoak (A0.1458588). This famous and beloved old song, written by Charles Austin Miles in 1912, is often sung at funerals and was inspired by John, Chapter 20 in the Bible where Mary goes to the Garden Easter morning and finds the tomb of Jesus empty. Mary is distraught but then she hears a voice and realizes it is the voice of Jesus and not the gardener.  Upon many requests, the arranger, Kathleen Holyoak, has written this as an organ solo, having previously published it for vocal solo and instrumental versions.  This is one title every organist needs to include in their library or organ music.  The words are inspiring and can be printed in a program as follows:I come to the garden alonewhile the dew is still on the roses, and the voice I hear falling on my earthe Son of God discloses. And he walks with me, and he talks with me,and He tells me I am his own;and the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.711747 Composed by Mykola Leontovych. Arranged by Nicholas Steinbach. 20th Century,Christmas,Concert,Instructional,Sacred. Score and parts. 23 pages. Nicholaas Steinbach #3689669. Published by Nicholaas Steinbach (A0.711747). 2018 Holiday Contest EntryThis is an original quartet arrangement by Nicholas Steinbach for Carol of the Bells. The arrangement features each instrument taking turns with the melody, counter melody, and motor. With the purchase, you will receive a 10x17 tabloid full score (6 pages), letter size score (6 pages), violin I part (4 pages), violin 2 part (3 pages), viola part (3 pages), and cello part (3 pages). Total is 23 pages and the approx. run time of the piece is 2min 45seconds to 3minutes. About the arrangement: The arrangement is primarily written in 6/8, but features some metric modulation (going from dotted quarter 63 to quarter note 126bpm for example). This gives the piece a dramatic sense of escalation as it reaches the final passage. Each player will have his or her time to shine in the arrangement. Also, various playing techniques are used such as ricochet (on open strings), legato, marcato, spicc. It is all written in a way to maximize the virtuosic sound while maintaining a comfortability and playability. There is also some interesting deviation from the original melody. This piece is perfect for a holiday concert. Enjoy and please email me if you have any questions: Nicholas.C.Steinbach(@)gmail.com

Tba. pft. - Intermediate-Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM597 Composed by James Pickering. A piece for Tuba and piano. Score and part. 14 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM597. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM597). ISBN 9790570484966.The story of this composition really begins with another composition entitled 'Play-Time' for solo piano. I showed the score for 'Play-Time' to a friend, Boryana Petkova a very talented pianist from Bulgaria, to whom I eventually dedicated 'the Dancing Bear'. After showing her 'Play-Time' she commented that part of it sounded like a Bulgarian folk dance. The potential of this intrigued me quite a lot so I sketched out a few bars intent on writing another piano piece based around this idea (the melodic line first heard in the Tuba part in the fifth bar after letter A). However, upon discussing these sketches with Boryana she mentioned they no longer sounded particularly Bulgarian. As this was the main aim of the sketches that eventually became 'The Dancing Bear' it is fair to say I was slightly miffed. Undeterred I decided to shift focus and write for the instrument I knew best, the Tuba. The 'Bear' part of the title refers to the tendency of composers to use Tubas to represent angry bears, most famously in Stravinsky's ballet 'Petrushka'. Musically it still contains quite a few elements of eastern European dance including the use of drones, some typical scales with flattened seconds and sevenths as well as the rhythmic oscillation between bars of 2,2,2,2 and 3,3,2 quaver (8th note) division. However, the goal for me was to writes a slightly humorous piece, with a technically demanding Tuba part, that could show off the musicians abilities and still retain the feel of a rhythmical dance.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Oboe,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.532808 Composed by Jules Demersseman. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #36921. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532808). Jules Demersseman was born on January 9, 1833 in Hondschoote, a small town in the north of France now near the border of Belgium. He entered the Paris Conservatory in 1844 in the class of Jean-Louis Tulou and won a first prize in flute in 1845. Demersseman had a career as a pedogogue and soloist, often performing his own compositions. A close friend of Adolphe Sax, he wrote some of the first works ever written for the saxophone, as well as for the saxhorn and for Sax‘s valved trombone, most of which were published by Sax himself.. Demersseman died in Paris on December 1, 1866 at the age of 33. The work is in the form of a Cavatina and Cabaletta, a vocal aria form used in Bel Canto operas during the life of Demersseman. In this form, a slow, expressive and ornamented melody (the cavatina), usually with solo cadenzas is followed by a faster, usually more dramatic but equally florid section (the cabaletta). Famous examples of this form include the aria Una voce poco fa in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia and Casta diva ... Ah! bello a me ritorno in Bellini‘s, Norma. It is important to listen to vocal performances in this style, especially in performing the solo cadenzas, which (in spite of the notation) are not necessarily meant to be performed as virtuoso effects., but rather as a means of displaying expression and beautiful tone. The piano part, obviously written to be quickly readable for a conservatory accompanist, has been modified to provide a fuller sound for the concert hall. If the work is used for examinations, these doublings may be changed back to single notes, if desired. Other dynamics, articulations, and expressive marks, absent in the first edition, have been added.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1040262 Composed by Mac Montgomery, Mitch Wong, and Ryan Ellis. Arranged by Barry McCormick. Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 12 pages. B. McCormick #645041. Published by B. McCormick (A0.1040262). About this Piano/Vocal/Guitar arrangement of “Heart of the Father†This arrangement containing a simple piano accompaniment and melody with chords of Heart of the Father by Ryan Ellis was created with the focus of ease of use in a Church setting for this modern song of worship. In the popular recording of this song Ellis uses his musicianship to change the melody slightly each verse as well as include expressive and elaborate vocal runs in numerous places through out the song. My aim was to write the melody omitting these vocal flourishes which are not as suitable for a corporate worship setting. With my many years of experience as church musician, worship leader and MD, I shaped this arrangement in a way to convey all necessary information for a modern church worship band with ease. Firstly the main Score simply has the melody and piano accompaniment. Secondly the parts are split up so the melody and accompaniment can be shared separately. The Lead, melody part, includes the chords so this part acts as a lead sheet which can be used for guitarists. I have also included the melody for Bb instruments also for bands which may have them. I have used repeats in a optimised way so that the music for each part takes up no more than 2 pages. All musicians know the frustrating limitations of music stands to hold much more than that! If you like this arrangement a also have some other arrangements of Christian worship songs and Hymns from Lead sheets to classical guitar arrangements you may also like to check out. Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.951999 Composed by James Leith Macbeth Bain, John Hughes. Arranged by Steve Stanfill. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Steve Stanfill #6536431. Published by Steve Stanfill (A0.951999). This is an arrangement for organ of the Brother James Air and the Welsh Hymn tune of CWM RHONDDA.  It is suitable for postlude in a church setting, or as a solo rendition.  It is of intermediate difficulty and can be performed on a modest instrument.  Full AGO pedalboard is recommended.  Note that this piece is arranged as an aaba stanza arrangement rather than the original aab triple stanza tune most current interpretations use.  It just seemed better balanced to me to add the 4th stanza.Dedicated to my oldest son Michael, who loves this hymn tune.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.871131 By Enya. By Enya, Nicky Ryan, and Roma Ryan. Arranged by Austin Kitchell. Celtic,New Age. Score. 5 pages. Austin Kitchell #4831689. Published by Austin Kitchell (A0.871131). This song may look like it has more than one instrument, but trust me, it can be performed by one person. I do it all the time.A prerequisite for learning this song is knowing how to snap your fingers with both hands. The sheet music will tell you where to do this, and with which hand. This is to imitate the sound of the claves in the original. Other than the snapping fingers, this song isn't very hard, and it's very beautiful. Enjoy!  The MP3 was generated with MuseScore 3, which is the app I used to transcribe this song. As such, it might sound a little funky.

Trumpet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1099560 Composed by Eddie Lewis. Classical,Instructional,March. 13 pages. Tiger Music #703450. Published by Tiger Music (A0.1099560). Upgrade your library of easy trumpet literature with At Last Victorious! easy trumpet quartet. This is a 6/8 march in three sharps. As a trumpet teacher with over forty years of experience teaching beginners, I believe that solid range should be developed over a long period of time. But this doesn’t mean that the beginner students need to wait for their range to improve before they dive deeper into the musical side of the instrument. At Last, Victorious! easy trumpet quartet includes the most difficult combination of skills without moving into our first intermediate level. We will talk more about skill levels below, but let me say that many people would label At Last, Victorious as an intermediate piece. In our skill level system, three sharps and six-eight time signature are both in our second beginner skill level. And yet, the highest note in the first part is fourth space E. At Last, Victorious! easy trumpet quartet is the kind of piece I would assign to my students right before they “graduate†from the second beginner skill level into the first intermediate skill level. At Last, Victorious! is a march in six-eight time signature in three sharps. It is not as long as a traditional march and the “trio†is not technically a real trio (and therefore not marked as such). But I do believe that the piece serves as a nice introduction to marches for beginner trumpet students.
