Dark Eyes (Les Yeux Noirs) Arranged for Easy Classroom Ensemble by Dan JonesYour download includes a full score and all parts in notes and, for guitar/ukulele and bass, chords and TAB. There is some debate as to whether the tune to Dark Eyes (Les Yeux Noirs) is a traditional melody, or a Russian cabaret song. Whichever the case, it is a tune which has captured the imagination of musicians for many years. It was made famous in the 20th Century by the great Belgian jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Several sets of lyrics have also been added to the tune, in many languages. The instrumentation is:(1)  The melody for C instruments (such as flute)(2)  An easy part for C instruments(3)  The same melody for B flat instruments(4)  The same easy part for B flat instruments(5)  The same melody for E flat instruments(6)  A similar easy part for E flat instruments(7)  A single-line percussion part(8)  A piano part which could be played by a pupil (approximately ABRSM Grade 3) or teacher(9)  A ukulele part with chords, the melody and TAB(10) A guitar part with chords, the melody and TAB(11)  A bass part in notes and TAB. This part could also be played by a cello, bassoon, trombone or any low-range instrument(12)  The melody written in a higher octave for more-advanced players (approx. ABRSM Grade 3-4).In the absence of some of the above, the arrangement is still effective due to the doubling of the melody and all inner parts. This collection contains 10 praise choruses notated for 13-note (one octave, C to C chromatic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. For each song, there is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. A note and chord reference chart is also provided for each song. To aid in the learning and teaching of these songs or for use with other instruments (such as a Ukulele), chord names are included on each Boomwhackers® staff and score. More info below!The outside of the wheel connects to the events which are to be played upon an instrument capable of producing the written chords, while the inside wheel connects to the events which are to be played upon an instrument capable of the range and 3 timbres (open, muted, and either a harmonic of a multiphonic)***. This piece is meant to begin at whichever musical event the performers agree upon and rotate in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion which is also determined and agreed upon by the performers. The orientation of the page is also left to the players discretion but must be agreed upon. When the lines connecting the musical events to the wheel are staggered around the wheel then each musical event must be played in full before the other performer starts his or her next event. When the lines are directly across from one and other the events are to be played simultaneously. The musical events must stay in the order in which they occur around the wheel. When two lines connect a single musical event to the wheel, that event is to be vamped(repeated) until the completion of the other player's event which occurs within that time. The moments of locking in time(both performers playing the selected notes in time with one another) are indicated by parentheses around one or more notes in two simultaneous events***. An arrangement for soprano voice and classical guitar of I Know That My Redeemer Liveth from Handel's The Messiah, arranged for voice and classical guitar. The original key for this was in E major, and while that is a very good key for the guitar, this arrangement seemed richer in the key of D, with the guitar tuning the 6th string down to D. Should anyone want to perform this in E, the guitarist would need to used a capo at the second fret, and the vocal line would be sung a whole step higher.     While this work was written for soprano singer, this arrangement could also be performed instrumentally with either flute, violin, or oboe playing the vocal part. Aggressively insistentThe genesis of this diminutive composition, and its subsequent title Six Forays for Flute and Clarinet had its inception at a dinner party held by flutist, Emily McKay. Jeremy and Emily were planning a collaboration including a CD recording featuring flute and clarinet music, and wanted me to compose a piece for them. I decided against a formal plan, and began in a sense, to unravel sound organization from the inside out. Imagining myself an audience participant, I wanted to hear clarity through brevity. I definitely did not want to impose gimmickry, but did choose to play with slight pitch bending-something to arouse the listener, but not to bore her with 20th century musical clichés. The result is a six-movement piece, around six minutes long. Organizing the music through titles allows for imagination for both the listener and the performers.Beauty of tone, magnificent musicianship, and virtuosity-these qualities in instrumentalists inspire all who create music. I am very grateful to Emily McKay and Jeremy Reynolds for commissioning me to write this music for them.
