Violin Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018956 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078707. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018956). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  â€ƒThe second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Mixed Percussion B-Flat Tuba,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,Bass Trombone,E-Flat Cornet,E-Flat Tenor Horn,E-Flat Tuba TC,Flugelhorn,Percussion 1,Percussion 2,Tenor Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1467794 Composed by Chris North. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. Brass Band. 189 pages. Danetre Music #1046092. Published by Danetre Music (A0.1467794). A Suite for British Style Brass Band which was chosen as the 4th Section Test Piece for the Butlins Mineworkers Brass Band Championships 2015 in Skegness, UK. Each movement is based on a famous French Impressionist painting as follows:1. Boulevard Montmarte (Pissarro – 1897) The Boulevard Montmartre is one of the four grand boulevards of Paris. This painting gave me the idea of writing a piece to portray a journey in a pony and trap through this busy street scene, starting out serenely in the suburbs, travelling through all the hustle and bustle, before trailing off into the distance.  An all pervasive Poulenc mouvement perpetual accompaniment style is present throughout this movement. 2. Lac d'Annecy  (Cézanne - 1896) Although marked Waltz triste (sad waltz), the mood of the music is rather reflective in nature. This movement is the longest of the five and I would not recommend it being played too slow. Stylistically, it is a characteristic accordion piece, so touches of rubato here and there wouldn’t be out of keeping.  3. La Cathédrale de Rouen  (Monet - 1894) This is the most difficult movement to play in respect of intonation, with lots of unisons, octaves and parallel intervals. The opening should be a true piano in order to allow the piece grow. The plainsong statements should be played smoothly and with plenty of air.  4. Les Parapluies  (Renoir - 1884) A jaunty, playful theme leading in to a little fugue. A little low in places for the euphoniums and baritones. The music should skip along comfortably without rushing to allow the finer detail to come through.  5. Au Moulin Rouge  (Toulouse-Lautrec - 1895) A lively tempo, always chasing forward without slackening. As in the previous movement, good dynamic contrast, swells and tight precise articulation. Lots of work for everyone, especially the baritones and euphoniums. Take care that the mf dynamic of the 'bass solo' is not overdone. If needs must, the siren whistle could be substituted with a referee's whistle, but I would like my duck call! The champagne cork 'pops' are really more visual than audible, however, it would be advisable for more of the band to join in,  as required.

Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719762 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. 8 pages. Curtis Hanson #6069335. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719762). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include This Is My Father's World, I Love to Tell the Story, and Faith of Our Fathers. This collection of arrangements is also available for SATB voices and piano or piano solo.

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.757442 Composed by James Michael bicigo. Contemporary,World. Score and parts. 52 pages. Polar Publications #3012023. Published by Polar Publications (A0.757442). This work was commissioned by Ron Inyoue for the Arctic Winer Games in Fairbanks, Alaska 2014. When Ron Inouye first discussed a fanfare for the Arctic Winter Games to be held in Fairbanks in 2014, he asked me to somehow represent the peoples of the north and to include something of native drumming, particularly, Inuit drumming. Since the fanfare is for the games, it needs to be able to be used in its entirity or in parts depending on how much time or the purpose of the fanfare in a given situation. This fanfare is therefore composed with three distinct sections that can be used separately or together depending on the circumstance. The Opening four measures of the brass is reminiscent of much of my music representing the Aurora Borealis. The Drumming is inspired by Inuit and Yupik drumming. I use the two different types of drum and blend the drumming style of the Yupik and Inuit cultures in a bit of a western context. The Yupik tradition of hard beat and soft beat is represented in the dynamics of the drums. The Inuit tradition of establishing the steady beat and then passing rhythmic patterns between the parts is represented throughout the work in all of the drum parts. There is a nod to Athabascan old time fiddle music in the choice of an Irish/Scotish traditional melody entitled The Far North. This is also a traditional Canadian Northern Tier American camping and scouting song. Finally, there is a traditional Fanfare that can be used independently to call people to an event or back from an intermission. It is my sincere hope that this fanfare represents all of us in some way and leaves enough to the listener, that they will relate their own experience of the North in the music they hear. Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.996121 Composed by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. Arranged by Erik Cole. Romantic Period. 33 pages. Erik Cole #4793067. Published by Erik Cole (A0.996121). This is a transcription of the complete Pictures at an Exhibition for double reed choir. It is all in the original keys and based on the well-known Ravel orchestration, which is quite difficult. As a result, this arrangement is even more challenging. It is designed with at least 2 players per part in mind, and all of the oboe and bassoon parts are divisi throughout. The attached MP3 recordings are multi-track recordings of me playing all the parts. This was, by far, the most daunting recording I have put together for any of my arrangements, and I apologize for any minor imperfections in timing or pitch. In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. Faced with trying to recreate the uniqueness of Ravel’s use of the solo Alto Saxophone, I decided to give that part to a solo Oboe d’Amore. It’s quite distinct, and conveniently just exactly fits into the range of the instrument. Many groups won’t have access to a d’amore, though, so I have included an alternate part for English Horn. Using it does make this the only movement that requires 2 English Horns, however. This is also the movement where I discovered that the cheap recording equipment I’m using currently doesn’t like long sustained tones, and there are a lot of them in this movement. For whatever reason, there’s a lot of distortion on them in the MP3, and I apologize for not being able to figure out how to correct that.

Electric Violin,Instrumental Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845977 By The Khromatiks. By Kayleigh Moyer, Kyle Pudenz, and The Khromatiks. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Latin. Individual part. 10 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #5375599. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845977). This is a loop station composition for electric violin that I composed for my live-looping duo, The Khromatiks, in 2013. Doing my part to increase the available repertoire for extended range violins out here on the internet!I originally recorded this tune on a 7-string electric violin with a Boss RC-30 loop station. That being said, there are plenty of other gear configurations that will work. Any phrase looper/sampler that is capable of playing 2 separate tracks or sections with overdubs will be able to handle this structure, such as the Singular Sound Aeros, Boomerang III, Ableton Live with a MIDI controller, etc. If you don't play 7-string, a 5-string can also play this chart as written if you use an octave pedal to record the low bass lines. A standard 4-string can also work, although some phrases will have to be transposed 8va.A little about this tune: the head melody is a basic lydian dominant motif that gets displaced forwards or backwards by a sixteenth note on each iteration. In Nashville Number System, we call this sort of syncopation a push, which inspired the title. This idea transitions into a B solo section with a latin songo groove. This is a great tune for practicing tight rhythmic syncopation, or for developing solo ideas on modal scales! With The Khromatiks this piece was performed as a duo with violin & drums/percussion, but also works as a violin solo. If you have a looper capable of syncing to a click track, you could also try adding bass (plays the bottom line of loop 2 only) or guitar/keyboards (read the chord symbols as a lead-sheet). The sky is the limit, feel free to get creative with it!Please, if you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/, or on Instagram @theviolinvagabond

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.999346 Composed by Dennis A. Westgate. Contemporary,Musical/Show,Pop,World. Octavo. 107 pages. Tyne Music #5871343. Published by Tyne Music (A0.999346). U. F. O. : Is my newest sci-fi full length modern play in the TYNE ONSTAGE series of original musicals. I wrote this specifically for the senior students of the Performing Arts. It has many leading parts for both sexes and has a hint of the 60-70 style of writing found in those musicals of the times but modern in context. The story line includes opportunities for many individual performances covering song and dance numbers, group singing, contemporary dance, dramatic interludes and strong comedy parts. This is an original story taking a humorous look at a possible visitation from our space neighbours. The story begins with the arrival of   GS2, an ‘Interstellar Space Surveyor’ on its mission to map this part of the Universe. Whilst reporting its position to the home base ‘Niva’, the surveyor informs them that one of the planets (Earth) appears to have intelligent life forms. On receiving this information Niva decides to dispatch a party of college students to study this unique planet, much to the annoyance of GS2 who take umbridge at being appointed, what he calls a Galactic Nanny! Events take a dramatic turn when the surveyor is called away on an ‘emergency rescue mission’ so has to beam the students down to planet Earth, where during transmutation, they are warned not to integrate with the population. But ‘students being students’ the consequences are both hilarious and profound. This album includes the Piano & Vocal Score along with the full Libretto. For full information please see my website:- https://www.tynemusic.com/u-f-oP.S. Owing to the high cost in orchestration The music is only available as a piano score with lyrics and chords. However this is reflected in the price. You would have to add your own instrumentation, but this would be an excellent opportunity for any up and coming senior student to take on.SONG TITLES 1)   Earthbound 2)   Hold the Front Page 3)   Sex Talk 4)   We’re In This Together 5)   The Annual Bazaar 6)   You Are Me 7)   Body Talk 8)   Bionic Love

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576012 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. Score. 9 pages. David Warin Solomons #46379. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576012). This is one of a suite of organ pieces composed by David W Solomons performed by David Carlston Williams Registrations are as suggested by the performer. (the sound sample is from the CD, available from this site)  The suggested order for this suite is: 1. Passacaglia: based on an ostinato passage in 3 time. The idea behind the passacaglia relates to the origin of the word, it is basically a gentle stroll down the street (pasar la calle in Spanish, which was converted into Passacaglia in Italian) 2. Dorina: a descriptive piece in Dorian mode based on a song about a cat, from the aptly named village of Chattevoix, who stalks, but never catches, a little bird.  3. Playtime: also about a cat, the composer's own cat who is playful and rushes around the house but occasionally stopping to pummel the soft furnishings. 4. Early Evening in Camden Town: a more serious and sad piece - in 3-3-2 time. It is an evocation of the poor folk in Camden and their dreams of what could be, if only….. It was originally a song, which the composer wrote when he was living in London, based on a poem by fellow Londoner Sandra Erös The streets are part of a toy town, waiting to be played with…. 5. The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men  To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... The rest of the suite is also available on this site: separately (with performances by David Carlston Williams) and as a set Video of Dorina:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tunykPeiU4M

In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. The original orchestration for this very famous movement is enormous. As a result, it's exhausting to play a reduced transcription, cause, except for the chorales, I pretty much needed all the instruments all the time. It's especially exhausting if you've played the whole rest of the piece first. That aside, I think this does a pretty good job of recreating the Ravel orchestration.
