The 12 trio sonatas were originally written for 2 violins with cello or harpsichord. The publication was supported by George II who gave Boyce 14 years of copyright protection from 1745. The subscribers' list printed in the edition included everyone of importance and included G.F. Handel and Thomas Arne. The editing has been lightly done, additional dynamics in parentheses ( ), slurs added in dashed lines. A couple of short passages in the 2 upper parts have been transposed up an octave to suit the range of  the instruments. The bassoon part can also be played on a cello. The Trio Sonata  can be played by players of about grade 5 - 6 ABRSM and is also suitable for more advanced players and professionals  as concert repertoire.
