The music may be performed with one or more instruments missing as frequently happens for church services. The file contains full score, instrumental parts, and a vocal only which may duplicated for congregational use. The complete setting is also available in a simplified version for piano only. Much of the liturgy is in the form of Call and Response, that is, a music leader sings a phrase and the congregation responds, often repeating the initial phrase exactly. There are two versions for the Nunc Dimittis, the congregational response following Holy Communion. The first is a paraphrase of Simeon’s exclamation at seeing the child Jesus. The second is the traditional text as found in Luke 2 with accompaniment on organ only.
