Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1121678). I Love You Truly is based on the 1906 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond; a song which stayed on the charts for nearly 40 years. I have created a piano solo of 4 variations with each variation getting further from the original theme and each progressing further into jazz. Variation I - I utilize rich chords of the ballads of that period. Variation II - I rhythmically augment the melody, simplify the texture, and add chromatic passing tones and progressions. Variation III - I set this in stride jazz with syncopated riffing based on the melody. Variation IV - I make this one a slower, bolder jazz with various triplet patterns on fragments of melody and a strong jazz chord progression based on fifths. 5 page score; 2:51 minutes This piece is also found in my book, Carrie Jacobs-Bond, Popular Songs 1900-1925, a collection of 51 of her songs I have arranged for piano solo, which is also available on this site.

Originally written for an octet of 3 wind: clt, Hn & Bsn, and 5 strings: 2 Vlns, viola, cello and bass, this is a tricky piece to arrange for a standard wind octet. I have left the three original wind parts mostly unchanged, with some additional notes as required. I have simplified the string parts in places, making them more playable by the wind player: I have not simply allocated the 5 string parts to the 5 wind players. The second horn part is used for the low sustained notes originally played by the double bass. I have had to utilize notes not in the horns harmonic series, unlike horn 1.
